Compact SUV

After researching the cars available at multiple locations, I selected this place specifically because of the car that they said was available, which I reserved. When I got there, they told me that car was not available but that they would put me in a smaller car for the same price. There was a car available there that was one class larger than the car I had selected but they told me that would be more expensive however they would be happy to charge me the difference. The staff was nice but I left feeling unsatisfied. I think, since it was the fault of the company that my selected car (and car class) was not available they should have offered the next class up for no additional charge. They told me this was not possible. This was definitely a missed customer service opportunity, possibly by the company and not necessarily the staff since they told me it just couldn't be done. Again the staff was very nice but I left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed.

I booked my vehicle to be picked up at the Richmond VA airport. Upon arrival at the counter I was informed that they didn’t have any cars available and that my reservation was kicked over to an enterprise office 25 minutes away. I then had to take a $40 Uber ride with my wife, 3 young kids, and 78 year old Aunt to the other office to pick the rental car up. I asked if I could return the van to the airport so I wouldn’t have to take another $40 Uber ride at 4:30AM on the day we were to return the car. I was originally told that would be fine, and then when double checking with the enterprise employee on that before driving away she then informed me that if I were to do that I would’ve be charged a $50 fee for not returning it to the same place. The van we rented didn’t look like it had been washed on the outside at all, and the inside looked like it had been quickly vacuumed by an employee with no interest in making sure the vehicle was actually clean. There was also a book in the glove compartment from the previous renter which indicated that they didn’t really go through the van before renting it to us. I called enterprise the day before we needed to return the car to get clarity on if I would be charged a fee or not. The person on the phone told me that there might be a fee, but that the office I rented the car from would call me that day to give me the details. I never heard from the office I picked the van up from and was left with the choice of return the car to an office that wouldn’t be open the next morning at 4:30 and then take a $40 Uber to the airport, or just drive to the airport and maybe be charged an extra $50. We dropped the van off at the airport (which was a very quick and easy process). I guess I will have to wait and see if I get charged an extra $50 or not. If so, I believe that should be refunded as well as the $40 Uber ride I head to take on the front end. If Enterprise is at all interested in customer satisfaction and retention, refunding me some of the original cost of the rental would be a great move in that direction and I would then be more than happy to rent with them again

Car tires were not inspected prior to giving to me and had blowout at midnight that left me and my family stranded on the side of the road for three hours. Both front tires had steel belts showing fully around both tires.

The employees at the richmond airport Budget office we're not very friendly they gave me an SUV instead of a car and SUV was a Ford not a Toyota Corolla like I asked for it was raining heavily I did not understand the car and I was not comfortable with an SUV but it was the car that they gave me and since other people were waiting in line for another car I felt I needed to just go ahead and take it I brought it back I believe the next day and said please give me a car I was afraid to drive the SUV I'm very comfortable sedans and especially Toyota brand the Ford controls were completely different from the Toyota brand and did I mention how rude the Richmond Virginia employees were at the Richmond airport unbelievable ! when I was returning the SUV the lady taking the car said what is the mileage and I said oh that's a good idea let me look at the mileage too what is that mileage? And she said oh so you're gonna do my job now huh? Excuse me? I mean was that necessary such attitudes I found not only from the budget Avis employees but just the large majority of staff in Customer Service positions were just plain rude and had such attitudes I don't know what made them so unhappy I had just met them so it wasn't my fault I just didn't understand why they were so unhappy in their jobs so leave if you hate the job there's no reason to be rude when someone has done nothing to you .

I arrived to pickup my car only to find none were available. The agents onsite were not customer service oriented. DId not offer suggestions or help with finding another rental agency. I did however go to the Avis rental agency at theRichmond Airport and they were very professional and accommodating.

HERTZ IS THE ONLY CAR RENTAL PLACE AT THE AIRPORT THAT HAS A MILE LONG LINE. I HAD TO WAIT AN HOUR IN AN EXTREMELY HOT AND HUMID PARKING LOT FOR A CAR....EVEN THOUGH I HAD A RESERVATION. THEY DON'T SEEM TO BE IN ANY RUSH AT ALL NOR DO THEY SEEM TO CARE/TAKE THEIR JOB SERIOUSLY. THE RETURN WAS QUICK AND EASY...BUT I KNEW THAT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. The usb port was not functioning so I couldn’t connect my phone to the screen to see navigation. I had to balance the phone on the dash or hold it the entire time which made for a very stressful driving experience. Also unclear instructions in the parking garage led me to choose an electric vehicle initially which I then had to return. Disappointed.

Passenger van

There was no one at the airport counter, and a sign for dollar that was misleading. The actual rental location was a booth in the rental garage outside in the twenty degree weather. There was only one person working the holiday weekend and the process took over an hour

Pros:

Drop off was very easy. The Explorer was super comfortable and easy to drive.

Cons:

Inside of car was not cleaned very well at all. Fold down seats were full of dog hair. Between the seats was a nasty baby pacifier. So discusting !!!

Nothing, we got in at midnight and just wanted to go to our hotel but all the staff at the airport had already left and locked us in the parking garage. We were left stranded in a town we didn't know well and had to scramble for a late-night uber (of which there were almost none).

Someone could've been there to let us out so we could go safely to our hotel

Alamo cancelled my reservation. I received a voice message on my phone when I was making my connection at O'Hare. When I arrived at Richmond they did nothing to help. I called the Alamo Customer Service number - would be on hold waiting for over 20 minutes each time I called. The only way you could get someone to answer a call was to choose the "Make a Reservation" option. Appears like the only time they would answer the phone is when they think they were going to get money. I had 4 different times when someone said they would call me back with some information. No one ever called me back. The manager at the Richmond Alamo counter provided me with no options. I had to press them to get information about being compensated for my Uber charges. I tried to get a car the next day and they still didn't have any available. With today's technology there is no excuses on why they could not have contingency plans in place to ensure they have enough cars based on the number of reservations they have booked. I will never rent another car from Alamo or Enterprise again. In Richmond they had 15 to 20 SUV's in the garage, when I asked about them then said that they were reserved. If my reservations got cancelled because I booked through Kayak and had a lower rate I will need to rethink about using Kayak. Having no car for the 3 days made it very difficult doing business and also on my client you had to chauffer me around the entire time. Alamo definitely demonstrated to me that they don't care about my business.

It was easy to pick the car up and the staff was very friendly. I wasn’t, however, crazy about the fact that they gave me a Prius (I wanted a compact not a hybrid). Drop off was a little tough to figure, I think you just need better signage. All in all, a pretty good experience.

Pros:

The staff was amazing! When we learned it was not at the airport we were concerned, however, we should not have been. A quick call (when we landed early) and moments later someone was there to pick us up. The driver was incredibly personable and professional. Arrived at the office and our car was "spiffed" up and ready to go. The staff could not have been better or more efficient. I would definitely use this service in Richmond again!

Cons:

We had an excellent experience. When we returned the car, someone drove us to the airport in the same car that was packed up. Super happy!

Pros:

Will never use this company again. And the fact that you allow them to post on your site is reprehensible. I had nothing but issues to start with they moved during the night (their words) before I picked up and they had not left a forwarding address until I called. It appears they are at the airport but they are not which adds to issues. I blew a tire on the way to my destination and they were no help. I called the car manufacturer to get a tow and paid for the tire replacement myself. There is also large scratch on vehicle which I am sure will be an issue. I have already turned over to my insurance company to handle. Clearly something hit the car and caused tire to blow. ABSOLUTELY NO HELP WHATSOEVER. SHADY COMPANY. DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

NO SUPPORT. SOMETHING ISN'T RIGHT WITH THIS PLACE. NOT SURE WHAT IT IS BUT IT'S NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY OR TIME. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. NEVER AGAIN. CAR WAS ACTUALLY NICE AND NISSAN WAS WAY BIGGER HELP WITH TIRE ISSUE THAN ACTUAL RENTAL COMPANY. INEPT AT BEST.
