Prices are average price per night of stay and may not include taxes and fees. "Total" includes our estimate of the taxes and fees. Please verify the total cost on the provider's site before you complete your reservation. Prices and availability are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller
At KAYAK we don’t set prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We aggregate tonnes of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we don't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car hires can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find on occasion that certain prices are no longer available.

More questions or if you have a bad price to report to us
Please send us an email and someone from our team will get back to you promptly.

The diverse metropolis of Chennai

One of India’s largest cities, Chennai is multi-faceted and cosmopolitan, with a mix of glamour, luxury hotels and artistic and religious traditions. Recent years have seen the addition of high-end boutiques, contemporary restaurants, clubs and bars to this already diverse city. Although this bustling metropolis is an interesting place to visit in itself, it is also the gateway to Southern India, making it an excellent stopover or short stay destination.

Do, see and experience

Immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of the colourful and traditional Mylapore neighbourhood. Here you’ll find the active and impressive Kapaleeshwarar Temple surrounded by narrow streets filled with fragrances, sounds, crowds and tiny shops that make for an unforgettable experience. Continue to wander through Parry’s Corner, one of the best preserved examples of Art Deco architecture in India. Then head to San Thome Cathedral, home to the tomb of St Thomas, thought to have brought Christianity to the subcontinent. Royapuram, India’s oldest surviving railway station is also worth a look before the constant threat of demolition becomes a reality. The old British Fort and Georgetown area are the busy heart of commercial activity in Chennai and boast a number of bazaars great for bargain hunting. More British heritage can be seen in the colonial era structures that form the Pantheon Complex and house Chennai’s best archaeological museum, the Government Museum.

Leisure activities are easy to find in Chennai. Try your hand at wind surfing, water skiing, speed boating and other water sports at Muttukadu. Take an early morning or evening stroll along Marina Beach and mingle with the locals, eat street food or watch a game of cricket. At the end of the Marina Beach stretch is Edward Elliots Beach, a favourite among the younger crowd and a lovely spot to dip your feet in the cool waters. For something a little different, the Chokhi Dhani theme park provides a fascinating look at Rajasthani culture, showcasing its unique elements in a recreated traditional village.

Arriving in Chennai

After Mumbai and Delhi, Chennai International Airport is the third most popular arrival point in India. The domestic and international terminals are in close proximity and many travellers use Chennai as a brief stop for a continuing journey from London, Frankfurt, Singapore, Malaysia, New York and other major international cities. The cheapest way to get into Chennai city from the airport is by suburban train to the two main passenger stations. The train station is a 500m walk from the airport so this isn’t a viable option for everyone. The best alternative is a pre-paid taxi, however even with a pre-paid fare this can be an unpredictable experience. The national bus and rail networks make arrival by land convenient from cities including Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Kolkata.
