Roberts Riverwalk Urban Resort Hotel

the location - right on the river the pool - on the river and sunny/shaded options the terrace drinking area on the river the reception arrangements - informal, efficient, helpful lady who printed off bus timetable and gave us taxi cards the wonderful high ceilings the huge bedroom the easy free parking the wonderful building, tastefully turned into a hotel efficient a/c the Atwater brewery (bar in real brewery), Andrews bar almost next door and the wonderful restaurant and bar a few doors away with a strange name I can't remember which are a safe two or three minutes walk away. the half hour walk along the Detroit riverwalk (mostly|) to the centre of the city the bus from the times square bus station in the centre of the city to the end of the road 5 mins (safe) walk away the building wasn't on our GPS so we had to ask directions the lack of room maintenance (bathroom door hinges loose so wouldn't shut - needs a screwdriver), bath tub lever falls off (needs a grubscrew). the dingy room lighting the curtains that wouldn't shut as the tracks were broken only 3 hangers in the huge wardrobe THIS SHOULD BE A FIVE STAR HOTEL - WITH A LOT OF TLC

The efficiency of staff (especially the lady at the reception who found for us how to go to the Henry Ford Museum at Dearborn by public transport). The excellent shuttle bus service offered to the hotel guests. The location, with the pleasant view of the river. Complimentary coffee and tea and evening wine.
