6.8 Good
Pros: The owner..
Cons: Breakfast staff...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Colin was an excellent host. He met us on arrival which was a really nice touch and then allowed us to change the timing of breakfast to a later time in the morning that suited us better. This was greatly appreciated. Very helpful with local knowledge of where to visit, restaurants, etc. The breakfast was made fresh to order which meant it was lovely and hot together with warm toast.
Cons: The ensuite facilities were not to a good standard. It was very contained and the shower itself was not securely fitted to the wall and the operation switch gave us issues. The building is of an age that no outside pipes are allowed to be shown and therefore we had a saniflow toilet system which was a little noisy.

Pros: The breakfast was good and we got what we ordered
Cons: It was to our satisfaction.

Pros: Soft comfy beds that were long enough for me (6'2''), private entrance so I didn't wake people returning late. Modern bathroom was small but totally adequate for 1 or 2 people. 7.0 Good
Pros: Interesting building. I read the file in the room hoping to find out a bit about it. Perhaps a bit could be added? It felt a bit like an extra building to generate income rather than a loved building. Good breakfast and friendly staff
Cons: Room was very warm. : can’t be helped, a fan might have been nice. Mattress more towards end of its life than the beginning. I think as the room we were in was a small one, a communal sitting room type thing might be nice ... these are just things worthy of mentioning since you asked :)

Pros: Paid £35 for room, description said shared bathroom - it was en-suite. Was immaculately clean, comfortable bed, nice Freeview working TV. Tea, coffee, biscuits and galaxy hot chocolate amongst the tea making facilities. Lovely shower with shower gel and shampoo sachets. Nice bar with good selection, and great buffet breakfast. I’ve stayed in worse places that cost over £130. All in all very thoughtful and seems like they’d put the customer first.
Cons: Nothing

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good, plenty of choices.
Cons: Evening meal menu, the specials menu was the same every night!!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was reason for choosing holiday inn. The rooms were the best I have stayed in, well proportioned and comfy. Breakfast was great. Good checkout time and amazing grounds to enjoy
Cons: There was confusion at reception about our booking and my motherinlaw was sent to the wrong room which she entered and there was someone in there. They took a while to confirm on the system the room account was all settled as I had to leave early and did not want my mother in law to be faced with an unexpected bill. The staff at the bar had issues using the till, and our second drink as a nightcap seemed to be too small for a standard measure.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The way the staff resolved an issue
Cons: Air conditioner didn’t work properly and property was hard to find with sat nav

Pros: Location. View. Cleanliness. Staff especially the lady at the Reception was very nice.
Cons: Nothing
4.5 Okay
Pros: Quiet, scenic location
Cons: Hair in the shower tray, grout missing from bathroom floor, dirty marked walls in bathroom and bedroom, lift area stiflingly overheated, drink prices extortionate, keycard didn't work, breakfast staff surly and terse - I was told not to use the toaster to toast the bread that was available - but there was no other bread! No ketchup without asking for it - and it was kept in a cupboard not out and available for guests to self-serve. Dirty glasses and cigarette ends outside. Reception staff offered no response when given a written list of complaints.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was adequate. Location very pleasant but you probably need transport.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast good. Location excellent. Evening dinner very good. Staff friendly.
Cons: Air con not working in very hot weather. Staff should ensure this working before residents arrive. Drinks in bar very expensive. £8 for glass of wine. Can buy this cheaper in Edinburgh. 10am finish for breakfast would be more in line with other hotels especially at weekends.

Pros: Breakfast was fine , I opted for continental but had a cup of tea and very pleasant veiw over the gardens.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located in a lovely, peaceful, quiet setting. We had booked a suite and it was exactly as described and shown on the website: very spacious with a comfortable bed and an impressive modern bathroom with both shower and bath. We had dinner in the bar area and we were impressed by the quick, friendly service and the food was lovely (I had steak which I had ordered medium-rare and it was cooked perfectly). Breakfast was also plentiful and well cooked. No complaints when it comes to the food.
Cons: Luckily, I had read the reviews of the hotel on Tripadvisor and knew to expect the abandoned building work which is quite the eyesore at the side of the building. It really is quite a shame as it is spoiling an otherwise beautiful building. While the hotel was clean, the decor was somewhat dated and could do with being updated. We also had to take a cold shower in the morning as there was no hot water. When my husband highlighted the issue to staff, he was told that they were aware of the issue and that an engineer was working on it. This was good to hear however the engineer needed a part and was unable to fix the problem so cold shower it was...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A little out of Dumfries, but lovely grounds and staff with a personal touch.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Set in beautiful grounds . Could really be a top class place with a little extra effort/money spent on it.
Cons: Half finished building work at the side of hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a lovely hotel
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel was very clean comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Very nice grounds.
Cons: Is generally like a B&B. The hotel could be so much better - in need of general improvement throughout. Needs a much improved dinner service to be attractive, Could be a great venue if a good dining menu and perhaps a spa facility.
