Overall our entire stay/booking was pretty awful. Before booking a hotel I did a fair amount of research. I called several hotels to inquire about transportation from the hotel. On the hamptons website it states that shuttle service is available and is complimentary within 5 miles. I called and spoke with an employee to confirm this and she did confirm. I let her know we would be in town for a concert and where we would need transportation to. She said they did provide complimentary transportation to this event and a shuttle would be picking up approximately every 15 minutes. Due to this information I booked a room. Upon checking in we were told we booked a smoking room, which we did not. We were then given very confusing directions about the shuttle service. The “complimentary” shuttle took us to a restaurant, where we had to pay $5 to take another shuttle to the venue. After the event we went to the parking lot to get the shuttle (shuttles) back to the hotel. When we got to the lot there was a huge line to get the shuttle, which took approximately an hour to get a shuttle back to the restaurant, where we then were told we had to wait in another long line to get a shuttle back to the hotel. After now waiting in this second line for 20 minutes and realizing there was only one shuttle running, we decided to spend $30 to get an Uber. An hour and a half later we are finally back at the hotel after spending hours in the 90 degree heat. We get into our room that we set at 65 degrees before we left (the room was 74 when we checked in) and find out it’s even hotter, a balmy 76. I went to the front desk to ask for a different room at this point, where I was told the hotel was sold out. The employee looked into the issue with the temperature in the room and told me that he would reset the unit and give us “VIP access” to the thermostat. In what world do I have to access access to use the thermostat during a heat wave? Reluctantly I went back to the room as the employee assured me I would be able to now use the thermostat. My husband and I then went to sleep where we slept in our 76 degree, smoke scented room for the next few hours. When we woke up the temperature dropped a whole 2 degrees. We then headed to check out since we couldn’t wait to leave. We wanted to grab something quick to eat before we left since breakfast was included. Well nothing was left by the time we got there. It was one thing after another with this hotel. If you are going to provide transportation in such a manner then be upfront about it. Don’t say you provide complimentary shuttle when you don’t and don’t require guests to ask for access to use the thermostat which clearly doesn’t work.
