We asked to be in the same floor as our friends and after a small hiccup this was arranged.
Bigger area for breakfast as there was a bit of a wait for a table. Comfortable to waiting place though .
Hotel and staff were excellent and perfect location, will stay there again.
Decor, staff, location
Excellent service, great rooms, really have thought of everything. Excellent location to explore Edinburgh with super helpful staff to guide you. Any issues, the staff are more than happy to help. Nice restaurants and bars with excellent decor. Gym & spa facilities are great for a city hotel with nice swimming pool to relax in.
Parking is expensive at hotel so better to park at local carparks and difficult taking luggage out of the car to bring into hotel
The hotel is located brilliantly, the staff were amazing and the hotel was very nice and not too pretentious. The facilities were really good and the breakfast was fabulous. We sat in the main area for drinks and tea and loved the vibe. It was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful at all times. The only issue was that some things were missing from the room when we arrived - no soap (especially as this was at the beginning of the UK governments advice of hand washing with the Coronavirus), no milk for the tea/coffee. Also, the noise from the street outside was as though the street was in the room... they need to fit better windows to ensure better sound proofing. Due to the location of the hotel it is in the city centre and likely to be noisy but the hotel could improve this and fit proper windows. My suggestion is to book a room that is on the inside overlooking the courtyard - likely to be less noisy. The spa and pool were lovely and the again the staff could not be more helpful. We were celebrating our 50th birthdays and we were given a nice bottle of complimentary wine. We dined in the Baba restaurant one night and it was fabulous food and would highly recommend it. A great stay, just snuck in before social distancing measures and then lockdown...
Nothing that we did't like just a note about the windows and sound proofing. We did wonder if the room we were allocated was a 'spare' room that they rarely sell and was a bit out of the way, hence why you can get a deal through booking.com.
Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel is Temporarily Closed New government restrictions mean that we have taken the difficult decision to temporarily close the hotel beginning March 24,2020, to support the health and well-being of our guests and hotel colleagues. We wish you well, stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel soon. Overlooking one of Edinburgh’s prettiest private garden squares, Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel consists of seven interconnected Georgian townhouses. Outside is where you’ll find the New Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s delightfully removed from the city’s tourist hubs. But it’s inside where things really get interesting. The newly renovated interior blends handsome woods, plush fabrics, and rich pops of color—and, yes, just a touch of tartan—to luxurious effect. And with a magnetic inner courtyard and an acclaimed Middle Eastern restaurant, it’s no wonder the hotel has become a natural meeting point and a sociable heart of modern life.
