Loved all the different activities they had on the premises.
Pricing of food on the premises is quite high.
Secluded
The resort itself is absolutely beautiful with plenty activities, some for a price. But, if you plan on exploring the city of Escondido or visiting San Diego, a vehicle is required because the resort is in a very secluded area.
Didn't like the bottom level floor/ground level of the mountain villas.
A great getaway from it all
Gym is the best equipped I have ever seen. Lots of exercise & yoga classes available Very nice Executive golf course Staff for most part very helpful They really try to keep you entertained right on the premises with shows, & other activities. The units are very nicely laid out large & comfortable If you have kids, lots of playgrounds, slides, & pools to play in. Overall it's the staff & the rooms that make this a very nice relaxing stay
Terrible internet connection on my laptop Location not convenient, have to drive some distance for evening out or dinner out
Great location to everything, friendly staff but W
Comfortable beds, spacious for our family, washer & dryer in villa, fully stocked kitchen to prepare anything, helpful, friendly staff, and most of all, Esco is a short drive (minus CA traffic) to all sights.
We are a family of 6 and stayed mid July. This was our second stay at Welk and due to a lot of noise upstairs from us last year, we requested an upstairs villa this time. They were nice about accommodating our request however, when we pulled up to the villa, parking was limited because of construction. The first night we discovered ants crawling on the kitchen counter, so I called and they sent someone over to resolve the problem(but not completely). Oh and the people below us smoked, so whenever we chose to sit on the patio we were greeted with cigarette smoke. Construction began early in the mornings and it was loud. I can't help but think it was our fault for requesting an upstairs villa and that is all they had available. We stayed for 7 days and housekeeping came once. Let's just say I never felt comfortable removing my shoes inside the villa. The kids loved the rec center and the pool, however the latter was never kept clean. I overheard a guest mention how he could actually 'see his feet' today but then pointed out everything floating on the top of the water. None of this bothered me overly much until I took my kids to the pool on a Sat night around 7ish, and encountered a group of twenty year-old girls at the hot tub, drinking, cursing, and talking very loudly about their sexual escapades. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some prudish anti-fun individual and my kids are not completely ignorant about life but what those girls discussed made even me feel uncomfortable. We were about to leave until they took their party elsewhere, but I can't help but wonder what they were doing there in the first place? Were they with family, or did Welk rent a villa to a rowdy group of individuals who wanted to party in a family environment? We will not be returning next year.
