10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel workers are very helpful. Property clean and has a history. Room was huge. Service incredible. Room was made sometimes twice a day. Location of the hotel very strategic, 45minutes to one hour by car to the places I visited from my list. ( Florence, Montecatini Terme, Montecatini Alta, San Gimignano, Space outlet, The Mall, and many many more.)
6.7 Good
Pros: The property is beautiful and has a lot of history in it. Wine tasting was spectacular, Anna a great hostess, if it weren’t for her, I would say the staff was a little nasty.
Cons: It was winter, and had to go in and out in the cold just to get anywhere, restaurant, pool, reception, room. Shower was too small and water did not sustain temperature for long, while taking a shower it was either very hot or very cold. Not appropriate for wheel chairs, too many steps and stairs. We spent New year’s, there and our waitress was quite nasty. Afterwards we noticed she had been drinking.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: DINNER IS A MUST TRY - WE HAD DINNER AT THE HOTEL FOR 3 CONSECUTIVE DAYS AND STILL LOVE IT SO MUCH BREAKFAST IS GOOD, STAFF BEING REALLY HELPFUL GYM IS SIMPLE BUT SUFFICIENT FOR WORKOUT BEST OF ALL IS THE INTERIOR DESIGN AND RETRO STYLE OF THE HOTEL FREE AND SPACIOUS PARKING
Cons: NOTHING
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The historical building is really great. Staffs work kindly and smart. Spa and pool worth the cost. Breakfast and dinner are delicious. A pasta I ate at dinner is the best dish for me in this 10 days holiday! I wanted to stay here more!
Cons: My room's shower space has only curtain (another room has a shower box). This type of shower makes me hesitate to take a shower... mainly because we have an independent bathroom in Japan. The cleanness of the bathroom was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location Location Location !!! People are very friendly and willing to help!!! Thank you Very much. We needed to store extra luggage from a ski trip, and the place was provided for us. Thank you.

6.7 Good
Pros: The room was beautiful and the bed was big and comfortable
Cons: The service was dreadful. Our room didn’t get made up, despite us being out for most of the day and when we ordered room service they took the order but didn’t deliver it to the room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is an amazing location. Quite , beautiful and charming. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Loved it.
Cons: I feel like the food dinner and breakfast could use some help. Food was ok but I feel they were trying too hard and it was just ok. Ordered a Ravioli dish and received 4 ravioli"s. The presentation was nice but not really very good.
4.6 Okay
Pros: It’s beautiful around, some of the stuff is really nice. Dinner food has been delicious.
Cons: No service whatsoever, location is on the middle of nowhere. Breakfast actually has been terrible. No selection at all! If you don’t rent a car, it’s mean you stock there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a location ! I will not easily forget the view you get from the terrace. Breath-taking. The hotel is absolutely wonderful. You are surrounded by piece and quiet. The personnel and their service is top. Always with a smile and a friendly approach. Dinner in the restaurant is certainly recommended. High level cuisine and again with top service and knowledgeable advice on wine.
Cons: Surprisingly enough what they offered for breakfast was very poor. Both on quality, in great contrast to the offerings for dinner. As on quantity, not in proportion to the amount of guests staying.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The Tuscan experience The waiter in the restaurant provided a wonderful experience The courtyard off our room was gorgeous! The bed was very comfortable Check in was a very pleasant experience
Cons: No reserved parking for hotel guests so we had to move our car to a place less convenient after checking with villa staff Cleanliness of the bathtub/shower. There seemed to be a buildup of mound/mildew which made it feel dirty No tea and coffee facilities in the room The food at the restaurant had no flavour (ravioli particularly) WiFi was very patchy The lighting in the room was very dark
Il Gavillaccio - Figline Valdarno - Building
4
9.5 Excellent (50 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Vacationing at Gavillaccio is ideal for those who are interested in complete relaxation in touch with nature and also having the possibility in easily reaching the most important artistic and historical sites of Tuscany and Umbria. Among them are to be mentioned the small romantic ancient churches of Valdarno, the most important of which is S. Romolo at Gaville, the medieval towns of S. Gimignano, Cortona, Volterra and the park of the casentinese forests with the hermitages of Verna and Camaldoli, which were quite dear to S. Francesco; last but not least there is also Chianti with its splendid farm houses, medieval villages and ancient castles.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Place and all property was sparkling clean! Very quiet. And beautiful views
Cons: took a while to get hot water - it is an old house
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location the facilities eg pool
Cons: No air conditioning
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very well appointed and maintained property. Clean and beautiful. This was our favorite property out of the five different ones we stayed at in Italy. Ms. Lorna was a friendly and attentive host. We would gladly come back.
Cons: We would have really liked to have had air conditioning. Although Ms. Lorna did provide us a couple of fans that helped a lot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Recommend very highly. This place is great. Location Apertments Owner very nice and helpful View brethtaking
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is very beautiful and Lorna was very welcoming and friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well maintained, clean. Great views. Quiet.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was absolutely beautiful. The swimming pool area, playground area and apartment were lovely. We have received all kind of tips and suggestions by the property manager who was very helpful during the whole stay. Lorna was a great host.
Cons: We would certainly recommend placing a mosquito net protection over the master bedroom balcony door. In the summer period it is very hot, but you can’t open the doors through the night because the room gets attacked by mosquitos. Whit a baby thats even more uncomfortable and we had to use our own mosquito clamboe in order to protect the baby bed. The towels were changed only once during 8 days of stay, which we found insufficient. Nearest restaurant is only in the city nearby which means you need to drive everyday through the steep and narrow road up and down the property location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was amazing and so was the apartment, we truly enjoyed our stay. The host Lorna is such an amazing person, I will fell short of words on thanking her. She made us feel at home right from the moment we arrived at Figline Valdarno. I can only say this, we will miss our time at Figline so much that we are already planning to visit it again and guess what, we have already decided to stay again at Residence Gavillaccio. Lorna and her son Roy are amazing people, Lorna had kept the property so beautiful, its difficult to leave it to visit anyplace else. Apartments are cozy, clean and well equipped. There is a minimart close to the residence, 10 minutes walk uphill, where you can find almost everything you need. The park and pool are located at a hilltop with a magnificent view of the valley. Keep it up Lorna and we hope to see you again once the boys are little older. :) Special thanks from Swati for making her birthday more amazing. :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Beautiful views and setting. Very peaceful and relaxing. Pool was in a gorgeous setting which we had to ourselves most of the time. The apartment was fantastic! Lots of thoughtful touches and absolutely spotless - as was everything else around the accommodation. There are lots of little spots around the grounds, seating areas, play spaces for kids, bbq spots with equipment. So much thought has gone into making this an amazing holiday. Our apartment was amazing - with 2 balconies - one covered so we could still sit out on our one rainy evening. Lorna was a lovely host - really helpful and friendly. And cats!! Lots of them - especially loved our 2 friendly visitors we had each night.
Cons: Nothing! The is nothing not to like - perfect getaway.

6.0 Good
Pros: It was utilistic. We wanted basic accommodation at a cheap price and that is exactly what we got. We are satisfied with the choice.
Cons: The furniture was tatty.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The full building shake when somone use the loft it looks like the building will collapse
Cons: Old lift, old building old and low quality furniture
5.0 Okay
Cons: Hotel next to the highway, it's not worth the money. No more.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Ideally located just off of the Autostrada. It was very clean & the staff were friendly & helpful.
Cons: The building is a little ‘dated’ but that could be fixed easily just with some new paint on the exterior maybe.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Old
4.2 Okay
Pros: It’s located right at the highway exit
Cons: It wasn’t clean as expected and the bed was really uncomfortable. Bathroom shower completely broken
7.1 Good
Pros: The rooms were clean and the hotel is located close to the big outlet mall in Florence which is convenient if you want to do a lot of shopping.
Cons: The employees do not communicate properly with each other. When we checked in, the employee who handled our check in said he won’t charge us the city tax for the second day as an accommodation. However when we checked out (it was another employee) we were told to pay the city tax. We explained to that employee that we were told we won’t have to pay it for the second day and she argued with us instead of calling the other employee and confirming with him. After some arguing she finally understood and didn’t charge us the city tax but it was a waste of time as the employees should have already communicated this to each other. Also, the breakfast could be much better. There is not much selection and variety of foods.

Pros: Breakfast room was located separately from the main dining room, was light and airy with beautiful views. Coffee from the machine was excellent and food selection extensive.
Cons: The only thing I could fault was the fresh fruit selection was a bit limited.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect!!! The staff was very friendly!!! The apartment was very very clean !!!
Cons: Was a bit cold at the kitchen and in one of the toilets. All other was perfect
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent & the setting fab
Cons: It is very remote & taxis are scares & expensive
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We were there to attend a wedding reception. The food and service at the wedding reception was exceptionally good. The place itself is very relaxing, peaceful and scenic with lovely pool areas. It was a three hour drive from the airport (Bologna) which was double the time we expected to spend travelling. Our apartment was very comfortable and spacious. We had the option of using the air conditioning.
Cons: Breakfast offered a good variety, however, there was no fresh fruit on offer when we were there, which was disappointing. We did have to ask daily for the usual toiletries which is inconvenient. There should be an ample supply or replenished daily if not.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: One of the greatest assets of this property is its location in the hills above Arno valley, about 30 km east of Florence. While resting in the extensive gardens, you can rejoice in a 360° breathtaking view of lush wine and olive yards. There is literally no car traffic, which is great for children, no engine noise, or exhaust fumes, for that matter, and only the birds' chirping can be heard. Have a good look at web site's pictures. Be careful when planing your trip, San Donato in Franzano is difficult to find and guests regularly lose their way even with a navigation system. Our room was located in the "new" building to the west, at the "new" pool. The room was large enough for the two of us. We came prepared with our own water heater for coffee. Airco is available at an additional charge of € 3,- per day. During the last week of the "low season", our stay was moderately priced. Not all rooms were occupied, and so the premises were not crowded at all. The ladies at the reception were very accommodating for all our wishes and generally very helpful. I also had the opportunity to recharge my electric car in the parking lot over night. There are three pcs. 230 V 50 Hz "Schuko" (CEE 7/3) sockets available, albeit fused for only 10 A. This should have been just sufficient to trickle charge my Nissan Leaf, however the fuse tripped at each start-of-charging. I wish I could have manually dialled down my charger a tick. Also, the energy meter seems to have been wrongly connected, as it didn't record anything. Breakfast has often been criticised by others - keeping in mind that in Italy breakfast is generally just a cup of coffee, for me there was ample choice. We had booked evening meals at the restaurant, and took these outside, on the terrace, watching the sunset over the hills. The highlight however was the Thursday buffet, accompanied by a live singer.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff extremely helpful from booking until we left. We were a very late night/early hours of the morning check in and staff fully accommodated this. This was very helpful especially as we were in Reggello for an unexpected family funeral. We also had to add an extra night and Roberto ensured this went smoothly for us and allowed us to keep the same apartment, number 5. Breakfast was really appreciated and there was a great range of continental, sweet and savoury items and drinks. However although the setting is beautiful it is very much out of the way and apart from the restaurant being open in the mornings only for breakfast there are no other facilities for food drinks or snacks outwith that time. The inclusion of a kettle in the apartments would also improve the guest experience.
Cons: The lack of a kettle and lack of any facility to obtain food snacks or drinks outwith breakfast time. Staff are fabulous though and very helpful.

Pros: What a pleasant surprise! I've stayed at over ten small inns and B&Bs in the area and this was by far the most exceptional and warmest service I've ever had. Hosts truly made you feel that you were at home. From offering a delicious home-cooked dinner shared at their kitchen table, providing insights on local things to see and do, to truly getting to know each and every guest over the incredible breakfast spread, Terrazza di Reggello was exceptional. This will be my go to spot whenever I'm back in the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very beautiful place. When you arrive you're warmly welcomed by Lorenzo and Giovanna. From our room with balcony we had a great view over Reggelo. Giovanna and Lorenzo really do everything for their guests with a lot of love and attention. You can taste that in the best home made italian dinner we ever had. There is a nice garden where Lorenzo gets all the tasty vegetables and herbs for the great dinners. Every morning a delicious breakfast is ready and you will be welcomed by Lorenzo. Giovanni is the coffee queen and provides a traditional Italian cup of coffee. Lorenzo gives you good tips for where to go and where to park. When you come back after a day out you jump into the nice refreshing swimming pool and enjoy the tranquility. Reggelo is a 5-minute walk away and it is a nice village with restaurants, coffee bar and gelaterie. It feels like home with very good friends. We will definitely come back here again!!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing spot in a quiet corner of Tuscany. Away from the tourist crowds but a quick trip to Florence or other tourist highlights. Hosts were friendly and accommodating. House is beautiful, set in gardens and groves overlooking the old town of Regello. Room was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Breakfast was fresh made each morning and there was lots to eat. We spent two weeks around Italy and this was our favourite accomodation. Hope to get back.
Cons: If you do not have your own car, getting here could be some what difficult.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Food was lovely. Great shower. Pool was great to relax in during our hot stay. Staff was amazing. Frederico and Irene were amazing hosts and went above and beyond to help. Frederico came and picked us up from figline valdarno after we were stranded and also dropped us off at the train station when we left. He also made sure we were on the correct platform and were ok. They also organised a hire car to be dropped off to us and picked up as we were not very experienced at driving in cities. Grazie mille.
Cons: Was a little bit hard to get around if you didn't have a car.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best place for relax, best breakfast and dinner!!! The old vintage furniture in the rooms!!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff really lovely, swimming pool great, undercover terrace for eating, breakfast, reading etc., very nice. Traditional building, maze of rooms, steep stairs everywhere but has certain charm. Standard room, basic but beautifully decorated - good bathroom, shower with usual shower head + 3 further vertical body heads.Tranquil, peaceful location in the countryside, look out for the twin horses roaming the fields by the pool. Nearby restaurant has best chocolate orange ice cream ever!!
Cons: Bit disappointed with food , menu bit samey, no sauces and quite pricey. ( Walnut bread is fab if you can get it). Watch out for mosquitoes, take precautions if you are badly affected.

Breakfast buffet is an assortment of cold cuts, scrambled eggs an many different cakes. The property consists of 12 Hektars of land and a beautiful and well-tended park. My room was traditionally decorated and clean. The staff as well as owner very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Nothing.
Cons: !!! I DON'T RECOMMEND. I booked a room with breakfast. The room was dirty, a unclean smell is in the room, the staff was not at all friendly. Every morning at breakfast I couldN'T eat anything, they only had croissants and ham, other people were eating omelette and we requested them to receive omelette but they told us is not possible but without any reasons why for others is possible. I took a slice of ham and I signaled that it was no longer food, their answer was "that they no longer have food" and have received injuries, I have never experienced such a thing, to receive injuries by personal. IT'S A MISERY !

Pros: We stayed 2 nights. Adorable place. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The shower is a bit small but I managed just fine. Good hot water. Its located perfectly for exploring Tuscany, which we did. The owners, Luigi and Loraina were wonderful. They don't speak English but we had no problems. They also have a restaurant that serves delicious food. I had a filet and a grilled pork chop that was just perfect. The entrance drive is very steep but, we did fine with it. Will definitely stay again. Loved this place and the staff!!
Cons: Breakfast was mostly sweet, I would have liked something a bit more savory, but, it was good and fresh. We were the only 2 people staying that weekend so we fully understood. Coffee is great.
