Car hire at Gibraltar North Front Airport

It’s important to bring the correct documentation or you may be refused a vehicle. Always read the small print, but generally you will need a valid driver’s licence with at least 1 year experience and no major accidents. If you are from a non-EU country, you will also need an international drivers permit. Your booking confirmation, passport and a valid debit/credit card is required to take for payment and deposit. The minimum age to drive a car is 21 years old, you may have to pay a young drivers fee if between the ages of 21-25.

Even though Gibraltar is British Territory, it follows some road rules of Spain. For example, you will be required to drive on the right-hand side of the road. Stay cautious, as roads are narrow, and have a general speed limit of 50km/h. Like Britain, all passengers within the vehicle must wear a seat belt and people on foot have right of way at pedestrian crossings.

A Gibraltar North Front Airport car hire usually comes with a basic insurance cover. For example, if you book a car with Inter Rent through KAYAK, a collision damage waiver fee is included in the price. You have the option to upgrade to full cover for an extra fee. This protects you from theft, loss of keys, breakdowns and exterior damages, which may actually save you a lot of money in the long run.

This depends on which company you book with. An advantage of booking with Avis, they offer a reservation policy, covering you for 24 hours after your advised pickup time. We recommend to contact them if you foresee this happening. Other companies operate on a first come first serve basis, so they may try and accommodate you, but it may not be the car you originally booked. Check with your provider before booking.

On average a car hire at Gibraltar North Front airport costs £29 per day.

The only car hire company that offers shuttle or pick-up services from Gibraltar North Front airport to off-airport locations is Budget.
