The food was excellent. Large bathroom. Centrally located. The beds were old and sagged in the middle.
Right in the town centre Extremely busy hotel would not recommend to someone looking for a relaxed time
loved use of swimming pool
Central location, rooms were clean and spacious. Good night out had in the bars!
The location of the hotel was so convenient and the use of the next door hotel's leisure facilities was a plus.
The hotel is central to everywhere, staff are friendly and helpful
Staff very friendly. Spacious, Clean & Warm Rooms. Excellent value for money. Centre of Town. Will definitely be staying here again. No WiFi available in hotel
Nice room with a jacuzzi bath Very soft mattress. Not a great choice for breakfast and I hate buffets. Why not cook it fresh for each person. We are being charged enough!!!
Convenient location, good sized comfortable, clean room When booking, I requested a room away from the bar and nightclub yet was accomodated directly above the disco. Disco every night until 2am made it impossible to sleep. Nobody on reception to answer the phone at night
Very comfortable room and a friendly, efficient staff. Shower control was a bit shaky.
It was certainly close to town ! Maybe a little too close. It was not a 'value add.' In other words, not what I expected for the cost, especially in comparison to other similarly priced B and B's. This is not a 'home' B and B, but more like a hotel. It was not as clean as it should be.
Great hosts; comfortable bed in spacious room; wonderful breakfast. Also appreciated local knowledge & map of regional highlights. Definitely recommend. No
The room was very comfortable and the staff very attentive. The breakfasts were very satisfying. We were given lots of information about the area and directions.
this is a jewel of a guesthouse, located truly close to not only Donegal town but to all the surrounding area. the welcome you get is matched by teh frienldy and helpful staff.. theresa is a princess of hospitality. the rooms are great, there are dozens of small extras to delight, the atmosphere is so friendly and the range of breakfasts available would merit a longer stay on its own! we could not use teh restaurant this itme due to time pressures but we will definitley return here adn will avail of teh wonderful evening menu then!! Have already recommende this place to friends adn we look forward to our next visit
Very nice and comfortable The "tone" is too important
Enjoyed location, the beautiful scenery in and around Donegal.Certainly would go back and shall reccomend to friends and family. Very friendly atmosphere.
basic friendly service, relaxed and good quality
Friendly staff. Loved communal kitchen. Hot showers!!
Great hostel, loved the music theme. none
Great deals on surfboard and wetgear rental. They even threw in a free roofrack rental for the car. My mums wee car never looked so cool
Staff friendly and welcoming Not clean, I.e toilets and bedrooms. Would expect to have a clean bedroom and toilet to stay in.
It was a family friendly hostel, very relaxed, yet security conscious, with clean bedding, new mattresses and excellent heating. I was one of 12 family members there ranging from 4 years to 38 years old and we could cook a family meal together, we could sit up til 11pm in the living room and laugh and sing without anyone being offended. Home from home!! Perfect for backpackers, budget travellers and surfer dudes. Loved it and would bring my kids there again. Collie and Eimear are lovely. as were others. Free internet access. Friendly staff on hand to answer questions. children were perfectly safe and well amused - they enjoyed staying in bunk beds above mummy and daddy! As good as any hostel I stayed, in australia - highly recommended! I can honestly say that my stay was great there. The only minor detail was that the water in the jacuzzi in our dorm (yes we had a jacuzzi!) was never really warm so we used the communal bathroom down the corridor which was a good hot shower. But it wasn't a big deal at all. It was as good as any hostel i stayed in, in Australia andI was there for a year. I know my sister's first room, smelt of damp and she asked to be moved and this was sorted no problem very quickly.
The live music provided by Mark Langan, the quality of the martinis and the excellent array of different foods for breakfast. Everything was great, although 300 euro was pretty steep for the room! The bar staff are great but service was a little slow at times.
We went there to get engaged. They gave us champagne, wrote congratulations on my desert dish & put rose petals all over the room. It just made our stay so special.
the hotel was very attentitave to us but not to the point of being invasive which we have experienced elsewhere. the room we were given had a disabled bathroom and shortly after we checked in we were offered a room change. a very pleasant stay and will definitely return. unfortunately we were dissappointed with the main course of our meal. However again no complaints about the staff or the ambiance.
The castle was amazing. It looks recently renovated so it doesn't have that spooky feel. There isn't much to do on the grounds except relax and enjoy the scenery which is perfect for a romantic night's stay. Just a note- when booking the castle, not all rooms are in the castle itself. You may be in the quarters in the back.
Friendly, helpful staff in all areas. Excellent food and wine. Comfort and general peacefulness. Overall very high quality and nothing pretentious. Brief disturbance by one noisy guest in the middle of the night
Size of the room especially the bathroom. Attention to detail such as up-to-date copies of magazines, herbal tea as well as black, light in wardrobe and two wash hand basins in the bathroom. There wasn't music or live entertainment in the bars any of the three nights that I stayed there, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The hotel was a bit too quiet for a Saturday night!
Bed was luxurious, bathroom was exquisite, staff excellent their service was second to none, garden and grounds gorgeous Food from lounge bar dissapointing
The setting of the castle is breathtaking when you drive up,and the friendlyness of all staff was outstanding, and our room was luxurious. We cant wait to go back!!!!!!!!!! Nothing.
The staff were all very helpful without being over attentive. The grounds of the hotel were stunning and very peaceful
The peace and quiet of the situation, first time I really enjoyed staying around an hotel, very relaxed and the lounges and grounds wonderful Just felt that in the dining room at dinner, the dining room was very busy but either the staff were not experienced enough or they do not have agood system for serving the guests. Had to ask four times for a glass of wine, despite this am really looking forward to our next visit to Solis.
Fantastic staff, fantastic food, fantastic room.
nice athmosphere, nice comfortable, modern surroundings
comfort, friendliness of staff, good service. and excellent food,as usual.
this hotel is good for the purpose of our visit - viz a family wedding. The whole reception and subsequent fesivities went almost flawlessly, and all without exception enjoyed the experience. would come again if we ever needed to visit that part of the world again.
The staff and service at the hotel was excellent. The hotel is a well furnished and comfortable hotel and the location is excellent. I attended for a wedding and the management of the wedding itself was first class. The hotel was very cold. There did not seem to be adequate heating provided as the rooms and indeed the function room we were in was very cold. Every one who was staying there commented on this. Taking into account the time of year this made my stay very uncomfortable as was cold and looked forward to going home.
The food. The leisure centre was shabby:the first day the pool water was very cold and the shower outside the steam room didn't work. Steam room very shabby - broken lights, broken seat, dangling black strip from ceiling. Two staff cleaned and hosed while I was in the pool after bfast - cleaning fluid came into pool. Better if cleaning is done outside leisure centre opening times. Stafff in leisure c poorly dressed.
Staff were friendly and extremely helpful and polite
Food was good. Facilities were also good The bed was hard and uncomfortable
Very nice food and staff Not enough towels in the room, food a little expensive.
Nice location, VG room and food Diffident reception. Ringing phones and the computer monitor came ahead of me. Over 2 hours to get a bath plug and no apology,
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner very enjoyable, although it was difficult to book for dinner. Lovely atmosphere throughout hotel.
friendliness of staff and cleanliness
We were upgraded to an executive room and it was beautiful. Breakfast was delicious and the service was great.
Hotel room -first class Restaurant was excellent but service was terrible.
Beautiful landscape. Stayed in the least expensive Courtyard rooms, but feel they are best as excellent view of Lough Eske right outside room door. Request a room facing Lough. Would have stayed for longer if I could have. N/A
Our little poece of heaven and indulgence in a totally peaceful environment. Everytime we go back it jus sems to be better and better. Staff are so friendly and atmosphere so peaceful. If the world was ending next week this is where i'd like to spend my last days.
The food in the main resturant was excellent.Bar food was good. I stayed in courtyard room which was not in keeping with the overall standard of this hotel. The room was old fashioned and fusty.
I loved this Hotel as it was pure luxury all the way. The bed rooms are out of this world and there is no need to ask for any thing else Nothing
Luxurious rooms and warm friendly atmosphere. Staff very helpful and friendly also. Location and setting very special. We had booked a family room and although given a free upgrade we did not find sufficient bed space for 4 people. two beds in our room that were both small doubles and it really was a tight squeeze.
I loved the whole set up, the surroundings, the staff, the food, it was just what we needed, complete relaxation. Next time I hope to stay in the fabulous Executive Suite which has to be seen to be believed. N/A
the room and bathroom. welcome on checking in. view over lough at breakfast. no entertainment at nite.
good food plenty of space eg residents lounge lack of sports and swimming facilities lack of radio service on tv even thoughit its availability was advetised
On arrival, changed the room to accommodate a disabled guest
The great view from the bedroom No fruit for breakfast
Our brealfast was diabolical. cold we pointed this out to the staff but it was liitle better when returned. The rashers were like leather, no fresh fruit, no yoghurt very poor for the price. We were not told about the short cut through the leisure facility to the car park. It was an inconvienence.
it was very relaxing
Clean and comfortable. Staff most helpful. Good central location for touring Donegal county and beyond. Breakfast, although adequate and nicely presented, was not served hot. Most items were cold at time of serving and this appears to be an ongoing problem. (I overheard others making similar comment).
Rooms were to hot & heating could not be regulated Seemed to be short on staff, which left breakfast a free for all
the friendliness of the majority of your staff whiles respecting my privacy. A special thanks to your restaurant staff. Their willingness to prepare a different breakfast for me. being directed to the restaurant when I asked for coffee in the lounge and when I asked if room service could serve coffee in my room
Breakfast was a bit overdone and I have tasted better
Bedrooms outdated. No heat in bathroom. Tiles around shower area in bathroom - grout needs cleaning - build up of soap, grime etc. No choice for breakfast - only one option full cooked breakfast. Hotel is not very good for older guests, whilst it does have a lift, there are lots of steps in corridors, reception area to get to dining/function room, steps to bar areas. Access to hotel is difficult - no real drop off area, parking at the back is restricted and once again lots of steps to get into the hotel from parking area.
great location, good breakfast booked non smoking and got smoking
location and proximity to Sliebh Laoig cliffs. Food and service could be recommended to anyone visiting the locality There was a noise from some type of cooling machienry during the full night which was probably something to do with very nearby fish factory
execellent value for money
The views were spectacular, staff friendly, hotel spotless and the dining mouthwatering None
Excellent staff, very friendly. Nice comfortable room, clean, good view of harbour. Value for money. Killybegs in november is not a tourist hotspot
Staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The location, overlooking the harbour was lovely. It may have been noisy during the day, but at night it was quiet and I had undisturbed sleep. Good breakfast. There is no free internet connecton as advertised: they charge 10 euros a night which is, frankly, antedeluvian. In any case, I couldn't get a connecton in my room, so took my computer to the hotel down the road where there is free wifi throughout.
It was good and clean and where I wanted to stay in the harbour
Staff was very kind, very good breakfast.
Spacious room with balcony and great views. Breakfast was excellent as was hotel restaurant. Nothing
View over the harbor . Had to complain twice to keep the heating on.
the thing i liked most was the staff they were excellent and very friendly and the hotel and food was fantastic
The room and breakfast was very good, the staff were very helpful (in particular the receptionist on the day of my check out -she was really under pressure but remained cheerful and patient).
Location is great but hotel is very old and needs bit of repair and it's not worth that much money
The standard of food and the welcoming staff. Nothing
Not much hotel to old and ran down , staff where unpleasant and one with glasses was annoying . Way over priced 150 for one night a real joke .
the surrounding countryside I have written a letter of complaint to the hotel
The hotel location was good. Hotel was a bit 'aged' but still fine
Good size room, great views, clean, good bathroom facilities Nothing
i liked everything a wonderful experience. No
Swimming pool Rooms very cold and not worth €150 would not stay there again
We had booked to attend an Elvis weekend that was on in the hotel so staying in the hotel was brilliant
The welcome was excellent. The room was very comfortable. Breakfast was good.
Excellent staff, excellent location and a lovely room in very nice surroundings No
friendlyness of staff cleaniness of all parts of hotel and excellent food and nothing was too much trouble no tea or coffee facility in rooms
having a meal in the resturant the hair dryer in the bathroom was not very powerfull, bring your own.
The restaurant was very good and an excellent breakfast in the morning.Clean and airy room.
Very good location. Car Parking facilities help.
Excellent cuisine & location. Very friendly & helpful staff Tea & Coffee facilities within the room would have given our stay the final gold star
Great service, great value.
We really enjoyed our stay, Staff were very Friendly & efficent...Can not say anything bad about it.... No We loved it.......
We loved the reception rooms which had lots of interesting and imaginative paintings, prints and ceramics. The bistro was exceptional and the service, style, surroundings and food was of a very good standard. We had a picture window in the bedroom overlooking Donegal bay and could sit watching the sun go down and people surfing at low tide. The bedroom was very spacious with pleasant decor. I was not convinced that we were warmly welcomed and there was a slight lack of professionalism in attitude and behaviour of staff but it did not significantly affect our overall very pleasant experience.
I thought for the price charged of 180 euro per night the hotel was very bad value. The room was not aired and I needed to dust if before I could unpack. Overall not good value for money
Staff & food were excellent. One of the best meals I have experienced. /
the room we had was spacious, clean and comfortable.
House was a beautiful and very old fashioned with high ceilings. Staff were very nice and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
Well situated for walking and sightseeing. Beautiful location with good views. The hotel was comfortable, atmospheric and relaxing, the staff friendly and service excellent. Ideal for a weekend break
Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. Very friendly owners made our stay extra special. Gardens are beautiful and relaxing.
loved the old original feel of this country manor type house. full of family memorabilia and lots of character. lovely designed garden, if weather good! food was excellent and rooms in annexe conversion were large, comfy and had private balcony that you could sit out in overlooking garden. would love to stay in original house next time but only 4 or 5 bedrooms there.
Quiet location, large comfortable room, friendly staff, good dinner
Good accomodation, good food, good hospitality no
Wine prices exhorbident. Could have been a lot lower and still generated a good mark up.
good areas to relax in during the day, great atmosphere. The conservatory and balcony were really good
Everything! We have already given information to other friends!
Great view of sea from bedroom - very relaxed - excellent breakfast and relatively quiet. Arrived too late to have evening meal
The welcome by the recptionist was second to none. She could not do enough to make our stay pleasureable No tea making facilities
friendly and efficient staff, good food and a view to die for
Location is superb - right on the beach. Our room was lovely - superior sea view double room. Meal in the restaurant was very good. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Accommodation and meal were both good value for money. I thought the bar facilities could be better. We were looking for somewhere to have a dink and relax after our meal. In the foyer there were some lovely chairs seats by the fire but no drinks are allowed in that area for some reason. The lounge was very quiet and I felt not wholly enviting. After some time we realised that you could go in behind the counter in the lounge to go through to the Surfer's Bar. That was a bit of a strange setup and not very obvious that there was another bar through there! The Surfer's Bar was a bit if craic and had a bit of atmosphere. But I did feel that with all the space in the hotel it would be nice if there was a nice lounge area or some comfortable couches to lounge about in after our lovely meal.
The strand is great for walks, hotel is really splendid.
Brilliant location, good selection of quailty food, lovely beach.with weather chilly outside the rooms were very warm.good friendly service. I would expect the price of the room to be a bit more competitive given the time of year.
A most relaxing break, the food was excellent.
I liked the cosiness of it, the view from the window, access to the beach. Breakfast also very nice and staff were very efficient Nothing I didn't like really. Would have been nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room
The ball room is nice for weddings. The rooms are very smoky
it was very central in ballybofey yes we were placed in the older part of this hotel and as we were at a wedding function in the new part it was almost impossible to find my room and the rooms were not very well signposted. hotel not well sign posted from the town.
Leisurely atmosphere and friendliness of staff Given dinner vouchers on arrival a little more information on what we could have on these vouchers and the difference in the bistro and dining room
Great location and all the Facilities were first class
The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the generak ambience of the hotel was warm and welcoming. The late night nightclub generated a high noise level and both the room windows had to be kept closed (the room was above the club courtyard area.
The freindly staff and the swimming pool. they were great! Our room looked out onto a roof and there was a very noisy fan/air conditioning vent which also didnt smell very nice.
Log fires in reception and christmas decorations.
staff were generally helpful room cold and hard to find and very very dated
The food in the bistro was poor, a chicken maryland dish should consist of more that 2 ingrediants.
I was very happy with my room this time, it was clean, quiet and great valu for money, and the holyrood is a great location as it's only 1min away from the slots!!! lol
Location of hotel No iron or fridge in the room and when requested it was not provided.
Food was nice, hotel clean, good entertainment When we arrived, the Hotel was doublebooked so we were told that we had to stay in The Great Northern Hotel for one of the nights then pack up and come down to the Holyrood for our last nite of out stay Generally most of the staff were helpfull with the excption of one of the girls on Reception, who was very rude...
The hotel was very comfortable and friendly. I really enjoyed my stay Unfortunately the dining room during evening meal was a wee bit hectic
Very little The room we stayed in wasn't clean, the bathroom had mould growing on the grouting, and it was noisy. Breakfast in the hotel was adequate, however queueing for up to 20 mins outside the dining room just to get breakfast was unacceptable. The evening meal (which was part of our package) was poor. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Spacious rooms and bathrooms, comfortable and good bed Bad tv reception, very few tv channels and wireless internet was on in function.
I did not like the food and I did not like the smell in the bar as it was of cooked cabbage.
It was nice to stay mid week for a good price, good to get to use the swimming pool, Breakfast good, Was very quiet not many staying at that time of year, no Dinner available at bar, Dinner not as good as hoped.
The room was decorated very modern and had a hairdryer and television which was good. The spa was excellent, best part of the trip. Food in bar nice also.
The room was spacious, with a couch as well. The staff were helpful with recommendations for places to eat. The bed linen needs changing - the sheets were very coarse and the blankets very scratchy. There was no remote for the TV in the room, and no WiFi available within the hotel. Overall, not a bad hotel but just ordinary with no added extras, I wouldn't rush back.
the friendleness of the staff and locals the food was nice ,it was homely but not gourmet or much variety
the toilet extract fan was very noisy during the night even though we had switched our room off
Leisure suite including pool, sauna etc. Good breakfast. Excellent location
Nice location in the middle of Killysbeg. Free Wi-fi in the room. Awful value. The bed spreads in the room were seriously worn and actually had small holes along the top sides. The room and furniture looked old. Be sure to get a room with a nice view. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a harbor view. Instead, when the curtains were pulled apart all we saw was a clear view through a window showing guests walking back and forth down a corridor in the hotel.
The staff were friendly, food good, bar atmosphere excellent and location excellent.
Downtown Killybegs location is excellent. Tour buses use this as an overnight stay and the bar/restaurant serves very good bar food...nothing fancy. No complaint, but it seems to be getting a little worn around the edges. We hear a new owner has taken over.....it needs sprucing up. I've stayed at the Tara Hotel across the street and will continue to do so.
there was a very relaxed feeling, staff were very helpful to our needs. rooms were spacey and clean, over all would go back to bayview at a future date. no
The food and drink was very nice. The staff were also helpful. The man who served us our food in the bar was a delight.
The thing that I liked best was the day that I left. No smoking room requested, given a smoking room, one room no heat requested staff to help turn on heat for a disabled person, request ignored completely, had to request help again late on that evening with a heater offered for room, ridiculous in this day and age, cold breakfast given to room on first morning, no facilities offered by staff in hotel, staff moaning about delivering drinks to room.
The staff was great. They were helpful and friendly. The food was good as well. Best wings I've had since coming over to Ireland from America. Our room, although clean, was old and tired. The room we were in could stand some updating, new carpet, bed spread, etc. The tub had a horrid gash in it. Windows needed cleaning on the inside.
