Modern elegance in the center of the tourist area
The front desk staff could not have been nicer, very professional considering, especially considering their current lack of a working front desk. Breakfast was available at a great little restaurant only a few doors down from the hotel staircase. Great hot and cold variety of buffet items for any taste. New rooms are pretty great and very quiet. Convenient location to central tourist sights. Hotel is located in a flat part of Lisbon which is helpful at the end of fabulous day touring, eating, and drinking.
While I had been warned of the renovation in progress, I had not been prepared for the extent of the renovation. This was my second stay at Hotel Lisboa Tejo. I really enjoyed the old style hotel for its large, open rooms with hardwood floors and big windows.The newly designed rooms are sleek and comfortable but could be in any hotel in the world. As of July 2017, there is no public space - no lobby, registration desk, restaurant, bar, or breakfast area. Guests access the tiny temporary registration desk, which is also the landing for the elevator to above floors, by climbing a steep marble staircase. Anyone with accessibility issues will not be happy here until the renovation allows better hotel access.

Overview
Established in April of 2018, My Story Hotel Tejo brings 135 rooms of elegance to Lisbon. The hotel is located in a 19th-century building, bringing elegance, comfort, and modernity to a traditional site. The delightful design of the building spans over six floors of the charm and history that's inherent to this location near Praça da Figueira, which is one of the most famous and historic squares of Lisbon in Downtown Lisbon or “Baixa." The hotel is also near the typical neighborhoods of Mouraria, Alfama and Bairro Alto.
This hotel is close to every attraction in Lisbon that should be visited: The Castelo de São Jorge, Terreiro do Paço, Rua Augusta, and Chiado - a favorite place of famed poet Fernando Pessoa, where guests must try a "bica" (an espresso) on the terrace of A Brasileira, where the legendary writer is immortalized by a statue. The streets near this hotel are also filled with plenty of other exciting shops and venues. From Rua do Carmo to Praça Camões, the area is filled with bookstores, cafes, restaurants, museums, theatres, boutiques, and even more. Guests will find it difficult not to enjoy a day on the town before returning to the comforts of their elegant hotel.
