10.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy to find and access, no frills, comfortable, amenities adequate for stop over and visiting area. Friendly staff.
Cons: Nothing that I can think of.,especially for price .All was adequate.
6.0 Good
Pros: Although the menu was basic, the evening meal was quite acceptable. Shower was good with plenty of hot water.
Cons: Whole building tired and in need of redecorating. Strong smell like air freshener in corridors and bedroom - overpowering. Carpets stained. Bathroom needed good bleaching to remove stains.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location was fine maybe some local signage to point to the hotel may have been helpful.
Cons: The Hotel looked tired and in need of a refresh stuck in the 90's. Room 106 looked as though it had had an attempted break in, wood chipped near the door lock. One bedside light not working at all an more worrying masking tape applied to a faulty switch. I have to say that first impressions; the manager looked as though he'd been dragged through a hedge with ill fitting suit, toe-tector working shoes and excuse for a beard. Although the staff were very good there multi-role seemed to detract from being either a chef or a receptionist.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were efficient and very pleasant
Cons: The bed felt quite uncomfortable and noise from the room above and next door disturbed our sleep
7.1 Good
Pros: Brilliant location for where I was working. Decent room
Cons: The bathroom smelt really bad
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great service
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well equipped, clean and comfortable room. Room 141
Cons: Room 141 overlooked a main road and the traffic noise commenced at 5am. The sound insulation was ineffective.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room, good breakfast
Cons: nothing
6.0 Good

Cons: evening meal .
7.3 Good
Pros: Manager and reception staff excellent. Bed as very comfortable and bedroom well fitted and very clean. The bathroom was reasonably spacious with good fitments and spacious shower with seat... a good touch.
5.2 Okay
Pros: Comfortable clean room of acceptable standard. good value for money
Cons: Food facilities very poor.Unclean tables, chipped glass jug, tumbler for wine, food of very poor quality and presentation even for budget hotel. It definately let the rest of the hotels standard down. £30 for two drinks two starters two mains one pudding that were definately not worth the money.
7.0 Good
Pros: The bed was very comfortable - best night sleep for ages!
Cons: Heater was broken and though pointed out, the portable heater didn't appear
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent value for money. Spotless and very welcoming. Spacious rooms with every need catered for. Lovely breakfast - you can eat as healthily or unhealthily as you want!
4.4 Okay
Pros: Nothing - staff were slack, and our room was not made up one day. Would not stay there again.
Cons: Hard to find - need clear signs on corners near the Hotel, and a big sign on the building as you approach.
7.2 Good
Pros: Location good for us
Cons:
7.2 Good
Pros: the bed and the breakfast
Cons:
7.2 Good
Pros: The very friendly. helpful staff. The large and clean rooms and large shower.
Cons: There was hardly any hot water for teh shower, the information in teh room said it was possible to have food on an evening at teh hotel, we were told that it wasnt possible. Also, you charge £5.45 for a glass of wine - thats totally over priced!
7.6 Good

5.0 Okay
Cons: Dinner was dissappointing. Swimming pool not working
7.1 Good
Pros: Restaurant service was great, good quality menu, breakfast was good value
Cons: Hot tub in swimming pool not working, room pillows hard until replaced eventually
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place and facilities. We had a great time and would definitely return
7.9 Good
Cons: The jacuzzi was far too small, the pool water looked dirty and there was a severe shortage of towels in the room and spa.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great value.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast food was very good. Easy to find, Nice location.
Cons: Stayed for business in a 'Privilege Double Room'. The double bed arrangement between bedside tables is clearly made for 2x twin beds leaves a ridiculously large gap between the bedside and the beside table and light switches. Wardrobe sliding doors were off the rails and unusable, staff attempted to help but were unable, and proposed repair never happened. Provided soft drinks replaced for diet soft drinks as requested, but supplied with bottles with no bottle opener. Phone seemed incapable of contacting reception, meaning all issues had to be reported in person to the reception each time. TV needed resetting by staff for the remote to work. Not too much of an issue, but when combined with above, annoying. Fire alarm set off at 4am. These things happen, better working than not, but no explanation or apologies under the door or on reception the next day, as other hotels do. Breakfast is lovely, but the breakfast team were frankly miserable. Stayed for business, not allowed to start a tab at the bar meaning over the course of the stay, a handful of receipts builds up to provide for expenses rather than one or two clear receipts. Inconvenient rather than a deal-breaker... but still annoying.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice setup
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff was lovely, room was clean the transport from hotel to town was quick
Cons: Nothing
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The food and spa
Cons: The fact I paid £196 for a superior double room yet when we got there the lock was broken and they couldn’t get us in we was left waiting for over half hour on the stairs with our bags then to top it off we had to take another room which was no bigger than a closet over looking the kitchen bins when checking out the bill come to £415 yet all we had billed to the room was a bottle of wine and two breakfasts as I paid for drinks and food at the bar as we had them! When we questioned about the room change and if we got discount we was told that room was superior lmfao! I said well if that’s superior ide hate to see your normal rooms I would also like to point out we was told because of the room change our breakfasts was FREE yet they billed us anyway TO SUM UP NOT WORTH THE MONEY WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was as expected, the staff, food and facilities, especially the gym.
Cons: The corridors and room were too warm even though it is winter, the heat was pretty unbearable. I even opened the windows in my room to let in some air.

Cons: No problems
10.0 Excellent
Pros: In particular the helpful staff. The the weeing a very special day
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb breakfast using local ingredients
Cons: The bed was too small, particularly if you are tall.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel ticked all our boxes - quiet location, excellent value for money, comfortable beds, good standard bathrooms, friendly and professional staff and plentiful parking. The breakfast was first class with a range of cereals, fruit salad and tasty hot breakfast items. And a beautifully restored Victorian former rectory to boot with period details. Heartily recommend.
Cons: nothing of any significance
5.0 Okay
Cons: very quiet, booked evening meal for saturday night, nobody else dining, so cancelled and ate in Wem. Hotel in need of updating.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: location was easy & parking easy, large enough property & clearly popular
Cons: little bit of 'attitude' which made the odd question feel like you were asking a bit much, room was quite a trek & not sure the last time the bed had been changed........... just a feeling!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfasts are always excellent, with fresh fruit, homemade marmalade, loclal sourced produce and a fish alternative to their superb English breakfast. The rooms are an enjoyable experience, in keeping with the period of The Old Rectory.
Cons: We visited at a weekend out of season and evening meals were limited. We were aware of this before we visited and it did not spoil our stay.

4.8 Okay
Pros: Reception sraff were very helpful and organised a ground floor room as Mum hurt her leg that day.
Cons: The hotel is being refurbished so the restaurant is closed and there is no 24 x 7 room service as stated. We arrived late due to busy day do were relying on room service. Wd made it with 5 mins to go. The brekkie was in the golf clubhouse. The window would not open as painted shut. The room itself was ok but view was of a building site. V expensive for lack of facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant stay we will be back in February
5.4 Okay
Pros: The staff are friendly, the food can be delicious and the beds are comfortable
Cons: Friendly, but not always helpful. The staff lack initiative when things go wrong, dead flies on the window ledges, handprints on the doors, food encrusted on some utensils. It is not their fault that there was a power cut just before the party(that we had travelled the day before to attend)was supposed to start. But thy might have done more than explain that the kitchen was all electric. Like offer us a drink and then try to find a hostelry outside the power outage. A decent manager would have at least appeared, apologised, and offered a refund - before we made a fuss!
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location worked well for the Hawkstone Park MX event.
Cons: Very poor experience, looks the part but clearly can't offer the service to match it's price point. £150 for a twin with breakfast! Room was poor and cold, very small and dark and outside on the court yard. Service at check in was poor, covered the basis barely. Sat for dinner at 19.30, finally got our deserts at 21.50! It was a busy weekend but room wasn't packed and they should have been able to cope. Apologies from the one waitress who was clearly facing up to the issues but no one else was bothered. A beer is £6 at the bar but then £5 on the restaurant menu? Yet they charge you the £6! The younger male staff serving are a waste of time by the look of it, I'd invest in some staff training to save wasting money on their wages. Room barely warm enough overnight. Breakfast good, but again hap hazard service.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was very friendly and try there best to help with everything that was going on.
Cons: We had to move rooms as the shower and heating didn't work and in the second room the heating didn't work either ! Dinner service was extremely delayed and starters didn't come out together and had to mention to to bring the other startert out, also we have to wait over an hour for the mains to come out and drinks was very expensive also.
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good, They usually do a buffet breakfast but as there was only four guests the breakfast was cooked to order.
Cons: Bar staff didn't seem to have a clue as to what he was doing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very chatty and friendly. Will be visiting again
Cons: The views and surroundings
6.0 Good
Pros: Brilliant place all round except the service in the restaurant, very slow.
Cons: The service in the restaurant,

Pros: Location and staff
The Vaults - Shrewsbury - Building

7.7 Good (791 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at The Vaults in Shrewsbury, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Shrewsbury Castle and St. Mary's Church. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access and luggage storage.
6.0 Good
Pros: The accommodation was really close to the station. It was great being above a pub because there was always a drink available, which I took up to the room.
Cons: It took me some time to work the tv, though I am ok without, and could always have asked staff. Cold getting into bed but fine when I woke up during the night. (I miss my leccy blanket - perhaps I should start taking it with me.)
7.0 Good
Pros: Basically rooms above a pub, but cosy and warm, and definitely comfortable. Seemed to be a security person who spent night sat in pub (I got in at 11pm and left at 6am) which surprised me as didn't see a single other person staying but reflects well on how seriously they take the welfare of their guests.
Cons: I've no problem with pubs - I spend enough time in them myself - but worth noting seemed to be a bit of a weekday (this was Tuesday) 'afternoon drinking' spot if you're familiar with the type of people in them, so awkward checking in getting key from bar, one strange bloke wanted to shake hands and rambled away to me. Room is reached through the pub goers from the corner of the bar.
7.0 Good
Pros: Bed comfy
Cons: The entrance area to room on stairs and landing could do with renovation, rather dated and scruffy
5.0 Okay
Pros: The Vaults is a pub which has been around a while; the rooms likewise. Tatty even. But the room was clean and comfortable and convenient to sleep after a night out in Shrewsbury, which is a friendly, safe and vibrant town.
Cons: Checkin. No flexibility over time - I was just 10 minutes early and the keys were obviously ready but i was turned away; and then I had fight my way to a bar busy with football drinkers a second time.
1.0 Poor
Pros: The bathroom floor had a hole in it. When we informed staff about this they said that they would provide a refund however they still have not provided this to us despite numerous phone calls.
Cons: It is not good ethical to say that you will provide a refund and then not honour this.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location was great, decent value for money
Cons: Toilet was leaking

Pros: The staff were exemplary. The food superb and attention to detail was brilliant. The canapes were delicious. Malcolm is a treasure, every hotel should have someone like him overseeing their functions. The hotel has wonderfully cosy atmosphere and everyone seems to be happy to be looking after the guests. The owner was also in attendance to ensure that all was to everyone's satisfaction
Cons: The weather
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved this hotel! The rooms are amazing and the staff are great.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast and the lady who served us was wonderful, the outside of the hotel is stunning and looks extravagant
Cons: Everywhere is extremely shabby, it needs some money invested into it. the heaters outside wasn’t switched on, the bed was extremely uncomfortable you could feel ever spring the pillows/duvet was as thin as paper the room was cold with no radiators working even the fire in the room didn’t work, the food on the night was cold, very expensive bar. the photos looked amazing of the suite very disappointed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything room was beautiful, staff exceptional & breakfast was divine.
Cons: The bar prices are very pricey.

Pros: Very good but more than we needed but we still had to pay £15 each

Cons: Nothing, a fantastic hotel
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect. Good food. Comfortable bed. Quiet. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Cons: Kept banging my head on the low doorway to the bedroom.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: excellent breakfast incuded with the room.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Sheets and towels clean, good value food and drink central location and great breakfast.
Cons: The room was heated by small Oil filled radiator, but window open and not switched on for arrival. The description says private bathroom but I hadn’t realised this was out a door through another up a step and a Yale lock to get through. The bathroom which was shower sink and toilet was functional. The bedroom sadly was poorly lit and lacked plugs. Trying to Do hair and make up a nightmare. Sink had airlock making a noise all the time unless plug in . This sounds whiney and I don’t mean it too, Shrewsbury has lots of old buildings which don’t lend them selves to modern facilities. If you are a fit person with excellent stair climbing facilities who is not bothered about meeting strangers on the way to the loo , this really represents great value for money with a great location and hospitality. Those of A less fit and more reserved nature may find it a little less appealing. They do offer one room with en suite however X
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were obliging and the bed was comfy. Tea/coffee and biscuits in room. Nice and quiet
Cons: Nowhere to hang my evening dress. Coatpegs and a wire hanger would be useful.

Pros: It is only a short walk into the centre of town, the breakfast was delicious and the hosts excellent.
Cons: The windows in the room did not fit properly, so it was draughty and noisy.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was near to town and my business the following day, I was welcomed and looked after suitably, there was a small car park which I made use of, I took the economy room for a one night stay if you were stopping longer I would suggest slightly more
Cons: The bed was a little hard on me, so if you have a temperamental back don't book the cheapest economy, I'm looking forward to stopping again where I might get in on a larger room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable clean nice bed an excellent breakfast no
Cons: Because we are senior citizens the stairs were a bit of a challenge
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is only a short walk from the station and town centre, in a reasonably quiet location. Breakfast was cooked to order and of a very decent standard. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and there was everything you expect in a hotel room, at a competitive price.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great welcome for us and our dog. We upgraded but the room was a bit small and all surfaces seemed to be covered with literature. My only complaint was no gluten free bread for breakfast when they had so much warning including when we arrived. But the staff in the sister restaurant The Loopy Shrew were lovely and welcoming to us including our dog.
7.0 Good
Pros: Comfy bed, great breakfast!
Cons: Delivery for the pub across the road at 7am, noisy water pipes, room got a little cold.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was superb, gluten free accommodated for and all freshly cooked.
Cons: The kettle in the bedroom had to be moved to stand on the floor to plug it in
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else! Location, decor, furnishings, bedroom, great breakfast, snug honesty bar. What more could you ask for?!
Cons: Sticky floor in serving area in breakfast room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a good location only a few minutes walk from the town centre and close to some lovely boutique shops on the Cop. There are a number of good restaurants, bars and brasseries all within easy walking distance, and the railway station is only a 15 minute walk away. Check in was easy and the lady on reception was welcoming and friendly. I stayed in Room 15, one of the garden rooms, which is separate from the main house and is situated on the ground floor. There is a choice of steps or ramped access for those with mobility issues and a table and chairs outside which would be great in warmer weather. The room is large and clean and beautifully decorated. The bathroom has a walk in shower and plenty of room to manouever. A kettle and bottle of water is provided, with coffee bags (regular and decaff) and a wide range of teas. Breakfast is excellent - there are pastries, fruit and yoghurt on the buffet and there's a good range of cooked breakfasts avalailable including smashed avocado with chilli and lime. I was only there for one night but as a regular visitor to Shrewsbury I'd be really happy to repeat the experience in future.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent for the town, the staff are very friendly and informed, the breakfast was a great start to a new day.
Cons: Having selected Parking as part of the criteria for selecting the hotel was disappointed to find that this was infact a separate charge which I had to cover. Other than that nothing else to complainabout
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location with a good standard of services.
5.7 Okay
Pros: Very central setting. Welcoming owners.
Cons: Parking is an issue in the mornings
4.0 Okay
Pros: The bathroom tiles and the wifi
Cons: I found the brekfast staff unpleasant. It seemed as if he didn't want to be there - he keep banging the plates and cups about - in fact another breakfaster commented upon this. He was quite grumpy. Maybe he should look for a new job. The cleaning lady and the young girl were much nicer.
5.3 Okay
Pros: Good location, close to shops, restaurants and attractions but on a quiet(ish) road; easy to come and go when we wanted and a car park nearby.
Cons: Service a bit uninspired; certainly not the friendliest hotel we have stayed in. Decor a bit tired and old fashioned.
5.7 Okay
Pros: I only stayed one night, but my overall impression was of an efficiently run hotel.
Cons: There was nothing I disliked.
7.0 Good
Pros: Queit cozy place but within few minutes of town square. Family-run informality, excellent breakfast.
Cons: The breakfast window of 8-9 on a Sunday was too early, too short. The room cleaners also worked only till 11 on Sunday which was surprising.
6.0 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed. Lots of clean white towels. Interesting old building. Handy for river.
Cons: Noisy (near building site and pubs). Instant coffee with breakfast. Lots of stairs to climb with suitcase. Overpowering "air fresheners". No thermostat on radiator. Owner not particularly friendly.
6.8 Good
Pros: The room was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.
Cons:
7.6 Good

Pros: The lion and pheasant is a lovely old building ,all the staff were friendly and helpful .Its in a good location and close to all that Shrewsbury has to offer,we stayed in the loft suit absolutely amazing room .We didn't have an evening meal at the hotel ,but the breakfast was very good and lots of choice
Cons: There's very little to say about what I didn't like ,but if l have to pick one thing it would be the tight enterance to he car park but once threw the arch there's lots parking space
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fantastic, bed comfy.
Cons: On suite was quite small
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A large room with a lovely ensuite newly refurbed with great taste. The breakfast was lovely too.
Cons: In Room 1 the TV could have been better placed directly in front of the bed above the fireplace rather than too the side. I think the four poster bed is too big for the size of the room, would have more room in that area if you had just a normal bed. My husband has a snoring problem so we also booked a second single room at £70. It did work out a little expensive £117 + £70 for both rooms.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: The noise from the bar below. We were in room 2
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Food was great although service a bit slow at busy periods. Bar ambiance good but more comfy seats please.
Cons: Bed Rooms clean but quite basic, lack of comfy chairs in the bar, seating areas.

Pros: Friendly staff and very helpful manager.. exceeded our expectations and dealt efficiently with our request
Cons: The hotel Can be slightly noisy during the night and at weekends especially in first floor because of the restaurant’s guests. It calms down around 11pm. so wasn’t that big a deal

Pros: Breakfast was good
Cons: The bathroom shower area needs attention The curtains need to be black out curtains
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nicely styled hotel, simple yet good quality, nicely segregated different areas for varying vibe. Staff couldn’t do enough for us and I think we wished that we had stayed to dinner rather than go out. Our lunch was so nice with a glass of bubbles. So close to the river and town, fantastic location and would highly recommend.
Cons: Nothing....
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great stay fantastic breakfast and cinema room a bonus
Cons: Hot in room overnight with no facility to adjust

10.0 Excellent
Pros: 2nd visit and still as good. Close to all the shops. Would recommend a stay .
1.0 Poor
Pros: Breakfast - food was good The location was good being in the town centre everything was accessible.
Cons: Parking is very poor - tight and limited number of spaces. Paid extra for an Executive Room which was advertised as 'newly refurbished' - it was not. The furniture was tired, curtains were threadbare and the brand new bathroom was manufactured before 1969 when the company stopped making it! See pictures... they say it all. Complained to the hotel and they did nothing about it - said they were full, the manager was off and still no-one has got in touch to discuss my complaint. It was room 220 for everyones reference.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: the staff were professional , the location was perfect ,
Cons: the decor and carpets were very tired
7.5 Good
