The staff are always very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The rooms are comfortable, well decorated and clean. We particularly love the views over the lake and this is always our first choice place to stay when visiting family in England. Would be good to have more teabags etc in the room (although these were freely given when we returned to reception to ask) and a few biscuits would be very welcoming after a long journey. Breakfast in the service station is good but some more information on the discount system and children's free breakfast would be helpful. After eating a cold breakfast my husband had a discussion with the restaurant staff and only then discovered that instead of having to take our breakfast all in one go to get the discount, we could have been given a voucher to go back and collect our cooked breakfast from the counter after we had eaten our cereal. Also the discount only covers a value of up to £10 and then you pay for the extras. The children's free breakfast was confusing - again after breakfast we discovered that this is for three items off the menu. We ended up paying considerably more for our breakfast than we expected and we ate it cold because we weren't informed that we could collect the cooked breakfast later.
Super view over a lake from the bedroom window. Balcony there also for the summer weather. Clean. Ample parking. Ample parking - but beware ! Without a "permission to park" voucher on your car dashboard, the services parking warden will issue you with an £80 parking fine whilst you sleep in your bed ! Reception at the hotel assure you they will be able to get the fine revoked - we still await the outcome of our overnight stay with baited breath. Water drained too slowly from the bathroom sink.
Very quick check in with friendly helpful staff and comfortable clean room. Thank you.
The location but relies on this too much The room and bathroom smelt very musty on arrival ; heating was erratic ;couldnt use the shower as the shower head was so unstable it sprayed the whole bathroom
Disappointed to pay full price when all around were adverts for £25 per room. Staff were not interested.Cafe next door advertised two meals for £10 but did not have most of the items on the menu, no alternative to chips, no hot drinks, only cold drinks available were sprite or small bottles.
Clean large room Had to wait outside to checkin which took 50 mins !
Room and proximity to motorway Breakfast in services using voucher sold from hotel.. Breakfast very expensive and we were charged twice for cooked breakfast when only had one.. Also it was not clear what the kids eat free meant and conseqiently we had to pay a considerable extra amount for a childs breakfast. . because of the above we we charged a further 13£ on top of the breakfast voucher cost.. We have been making this stop for many years now and has been good value until this year.
Hotel ok,main eating area filthy full of flies walked out very unhygienic! Uncovered food. Hotel was ok
An excellent one night stop over for a visit to/from Scotland, with excellent service from the receptionist. Although part of the motorway services, no road noise from our room at the back which had beautiful views overlooking the lake.
Very friendly receptionist and free WiFi. Poor quality breakfast and although WiFi was free it was unreliable.
The staff were very helpful The heating in the bedroom was ineffective and after asking for an improvement nothing seemed to happen
The room was comfortable.
high standard of room comfort disappointed with the poor selectoin of available food on offer
good location the beds not big enough and no duvets
Staff very friendly. Food at dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Bacon at breakfast was a bit overcooked.
Staff were very approachable and attentive. Dinner was excellent.
Very nice hotel which I would recommend. The receptionist could not have been more helpful. Very enjoyable evening meal. Cooked breakfast could be served 30 minutes earlier for business guests and the room I had was an adjoining room and the man coughing next door sounded like he was in my room. However these points apart I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
Location, quality and price
food room very cold on arrival
second time we have stayed at this hotel, excellent staff who could,nt do enough for us,beautiful countryside, makes an excellent stopover on the way to edinburgh.
Breakfast was cooked freshly and the produce was good The floorboards creaked extensively in the bedroom - felt sorry for anyone below as we had 2 children with us. Porridge was tepid and room was basic no freeview on TV and small bed. The Hotel was not busy and at breakfast we were only people in dining room but plates were not cleared from our table so it became very cluttered.
Meal was excellent
Very spacious clean well appointed bedroom with large en suite bathroom. The food was very good with ample choice from the menu. Breakfast was very good too. The hotel is also convenient for the main road and easy to find.
Snooker Table and very good breakfast
Relaxing Would have liked a shower in room.
quality food and excellent staff room was very basic for the cost
We only stayed for 1 evening and dined out so it's difficult to comment. However, as it was our anniversary, the hotel kindly upgraded us to a small suite, which was lovely.
shabby and well over priced
the quietness of the surroundings, and the fact that the rooms were immaculate. The staff were very polite and helpful. none
Good breakfast and friendly staff
Friendliness, cleanliness no
We liked the personal touch associated with this stay. As close to a B&B as you can get. Would certainly have stayed longer, had time permitted. Nothing was spared for the breakfast, served by Mr. Spence. Hope to return one day. Thanks to all at the Hotel. Adrian/John Jardine
Family atmosphere and warm welcome Nothing
Hospitable staff room very clean quiet It would have been useful to know that food was not available at 10:20pm as I did send a message about my late arrival however hotel staff alowed me to eat a takeaway in the hotel and provided a plate and cutlery etc which was very much appreciated. It was a genuinely warm scottish welcome. Thank you.
It was a very welcoming and warm hotel to return to after a day out and the food is very good. On one occassion my tea/coffee tray was not replenished. I did go down to the bar to ask for tea bags and milk which I was told would be brought up to me but they never were. Just a minor glitch tho!
The food was very good and I got the best pint of John Smiths I have had in a long while. The evening staff serving food were very friendly. The staff at night were very busy, had to wait to get served at the bar. Comment only not a complaint
I found the Kings Arms Hotel to be brilliant for comfort and the staff are very helpfull and pleased to assist with any help that is need, nothing is to much and will use the hotel again. Exellent Roger.
Friendly and welcoming management and staff with a great sense of humour who cared for their customers. The mattress of one beds in the family room was lop sided and the socket by the door was difficult to access.
evening meal was excellent. broadband wireless internet.
the two young men who was in the office and who served on the evening were brilliant characters, the room we had was a bit on the small side for the amount of furniture that was in the room, but other than that it was great,
Warm, friendly welcome. Countryside location but near motorway, convenient after a long journey.
Manager was friendly and helpful Limited choice self service breakfast Our room was too noisy--too near the Motorway running past
Clean & comfortable. Very convenient for travellers by road.
food good, motorway noise
The hotel was spotless, the room (bridal suite) was lovely, staff very friendly. It was quiet there even though outside there is a busy road nearby.
Very friendly people, interesting building. The room was very clean but shabby. The hotel was next to a very busy, noisey road which was not stated in the hotels description
owners dog roaming around the hotel
the staff were very polite and helpfull also it was very clean
It is a very friendly hotel and there are some beautiful state rooms. Food was excellent. Rooms were comfortable. It was warm inside and enjoyed the log fire in the bar. It seemed to be managed by just a couple not much staff about. My room was hardly cleaned and my bed never made. It is unfortunate that this lovely building is situated between a railway line and motorway. Noise factor was high. No double glazing and windows in poor state of decor on the outside. Hotel needs some modernization.
The hotel was very friendly and clean and very easy to find the bar prices were very high and the dog barked a great deal through the night and kept us awake
Limited menu, no on-site parking, no choice offered at breakfast
We liked the room , but noticed that there wasn't any heating in there so it be cold later in the year
Room freezing cold, had to sleep fully clothed. No hot water, luke warm at best and hit and miss as to wether or not you even got this.No flexibility on breakfast times, strictly 8-9am, no use to people on business at all.
