There are good reasons to stay in one of the Mykonos hostels when you’re planning a holiday to the fabled Greek island. A hostel offers a cost-effective alternative to a hotel, given that Mykonos has become such a popular holiday destination. For a fraction of the price of a hotel, you can book a comfortable holiday stay without having to pay for amenities you don’t need. You might never use a hotel’s complimentary laundry service or breakfast, but it’s still built into the room rate. So choosing a hostel might only give you the basics, but it has everything you’ll need for a clean, comfortable stay, leaving more of your budget to spend on your holiday. An ideal choice is Paraga Beach Hostel, roughly only 10min from Mykonos Airport (JMK) and right on Paraga Beach.
If you want to stay in a really fun, eccentrically modern hostel, book through KAYAK at Mycocoon Hostel Mykonos. It’s designed to mimic the smooth organic lines of the underwater grottos in the Aegean, with moulded curves and barely a straight line, other than the beds. At the same time, it has a futuristic look that could come out of a sci-fi movie. This is one of the most interesting Mykonos hostels and promises to be quite unlike any other you’ve stayed in. It’s well situated, within a 5min walk of Mykonos Old Port and within half a mile of Mykonos Museum of Folklore. Laundry facilities are available on-site, and there’s an outdoor pool, if you don’t feel like going to the beach.
Another of the Mykonos hostels to consider if you’re on a backpacking trip and really like to get close to nature is Paradise Beach Camping. Although primarily a campsite, it also has wooden bungalows that can fit up to three people each. It’s under 100 yards from Paradise Beach, so you’ll practically be living on the golden sands. There’s a self-service restaurant on site, plus a snack bar and two beach bars.
