Good 7.0
Pros: very nice pub/hotel; superb food and a great team of staff.
Cons: The bedroom I was given had very low ceilings; this would be ok for most people but I am over 6.2 and so it was a little uncomfortable. Maybe taller people should not be put in these rooms
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Fantastic overnight stay in The Bell at Hampton Poyle. Always our favourite and never disappoints. We had a fabulous dinner and the customer service was truly excellent. Lydia really knows how to make guests welcome. She looked after us right through our stay and should be highly commended on her professional approach in making sure we were all having a wonderful time. Covid-19 SD/Mask guidelines were followed to the letter and made us feel very safe. We look forward to a return visit very soon and would like to thank Lydia for going the extra mile and having such a welcoming manner. We would highly recommend The Bell at Hampton Poyle.
Cons: Nothing - it was 100 percent perfect.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Worth going for the restaurant alone. A really interesting menu and creative chef. Staff all very positive, professional and friendly. Room a little small but perfect for our needs.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The Bell is a very nice gastro pub in Hampton Poyle with a number of rooms available in the adjoining cottages. The food was excellent and the staff very attentive and professional. We very much enjoyed our stay and would visit again.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great breakfast, dinner and friendly staff. Excellent location for oxford town centre.
Good 6.0
Cons: Terrible, inedible prawns. Remarked on this, but no one seemed terribly interested! And we were charged for them
Good 7.0
Pros: Our normal hotel in this part of the country was closed so we tried this cute little old pub with rooms. Room was comfortable and quiet with a large bathroom. Large TV with access to prime, Netflix etc which is a nice touch.
Cons: Staff could have made more effort complying with covid best practices - no masks worn on checkin or in onsite restaurant. It’s such an easy thing to do and puts guests at ease that all hygiene practices are being followed - disappointing and slightly unsettling in these strange times when travel is a luxury.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very tastefully decorated and furnished. Excellent staff and excellent food.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9.7
Pros: Beautiful and quite just outside oxford with a bus stop almost every 30 minutes going into town.

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Staff were excellent, breakfast was lovely, room was nice but very expensive
Cons: Shower was intermittent in temperature and low in power 😕
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Service from the staff was fantastic and they even arranged an nice birthday surprise for my wife in the court yard without even asking. The staff was always accommodating to our needs and made it a great experience.
Cons: Lack of proper air conditioning in the room in the very warm weather, but that is understandable due to the age and authenticity of the hotel. Staff tried to be helpful with an extra portable fan.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The age and character of the hotel was special. Lovely tall entrance and original features.
Cons: Breakfast wasn’t great. Local produce, well cooked would have made the stay a perfect 10
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The room was beautiful, spacious and beautifully clean. Additionally, you couldn’t wish for nicer and more helpful staff.
Cons: It could do with a bit more outdoor space. However, Blenheim Palace is no distance at all.
Good 7.0
Pros: CLEAN -FRIENDLY STAFF.
Cons: . UNIMAGINATIVE BREAKFAST!! LIKE BEING BACK IN THE 70’S!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The hotel was full of character, beautifully clean and the staff couldn’t do enough to help. Excellent location for visiting oxfordshire. Walking distance to many lovely restaurants. Excellent breakfast included, with choice of options

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Good location, good price and good food!
Cons: Nothing.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The Staff are friendly and helpful
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Very friendly staff and the food was good.
Good 7.0
Pros: Good breakfast . Helpful staff
Cons: Noisy location as it was at side of main road. Kitchen closing at 2000 in midweek !!!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Friendly staff, flexible approach to our travel needs and good location for our weekend sporting activities. The only observation we had (party of 3) was that the beds were on the soft side for our personal taste.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The welcome was great, we phoned ahead to advise that we would be arriving later than expected and this was not an issue at all. The room was well decorated, clean and the bed was comfortable. Tea/coffee in the room was good and biscuits a bonus! Plenty of car parking.
Cons: The food portions were huge...which may be ok for some people but for us not so, we felt overwhelmed by the volume of food on the plate. Although the taste was ok (except for the mushrooms....not good at the evening meal or at breakfast the following day) and there was a lot of choice.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Comfortable room and good breakfast. We had also had dinner and the steaks were excellent. One issue that often concerns me is the availability of parking. Loads of space here.
Cons: One of our reasons for booking was that the menu on-line when we booked looked good. The reality was that it was a bit more limited but this was, I'm sure, a consequence of covid. The on-line menu during our stay was an accurate reflection of what was available.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Staff and food
Okay 5.4
Pros: Nice clean room, good tv. Ample parking. Near main road.
Cons: The way the manager talked to me when I told him I did not like the food. I ordered a hotpot (regular price £12.95). What I got was a tiny bowl of stew with sliced boiled potato on top. On the plate were unappetizing green beans and carrots (boiled from frozen?). When I said that this was not hot pot as the potatoes need to be thinly sliced and cooked with the meat I was told that "this is how we do it". I showed him many photos of hot pots on google but he was having none of it and argued and was nasty. I returned it to the kitchen but he told the lady at the till 'she's paying for it!'. The other lady behind the bar was angry with me too as the 'chef' was her son. Very unprofessional, nasty, aggressive and an altogether horrible experience. I was tempted to call the Police because of the way I was treated (single woman alone). Please note: there was no swearing however I have never had such a bad experience in hospitality.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: The House Manager, Ashley, couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. She gave us information about buses, pubs to eat in on Saturday evening, and allowed us to leave our cars there whilst we went into the centre of Oxford on Sunday morning and looked around the Colleges, after we had booked out. She was able to deal with my husband's dietary requirements, which we had told her about in advance. The décor of our room was light and modern.
Cons: There was not much moving around room in the ensuite bathroom, but good use was made of every available space in the whole room, and we managed.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Clean, comfortable and Ashley (the manager) is super lovely and makes you feel super welcome Breakfast is superb
Cons: The location is a bit out of hand but if you are into walking it will take you around 40 min to reach Oxford City centre walking and around 10 min by bus It is in front of the Wolvercote Cemetery (the one that holds JRR Tolkien tomb)
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Lovely host, nicely furnished room with thoughtful additions such as fridge, sweets, hairdryer were above and beyond expectations. Likewise breakfast very good. Ample parking and bus stop right outside with buses into city centre every few minutes made this a good location.
Cons: Bathroom was very small, but amp!e with good shower. Being in a city there is a little traffic noise when window open, but not enough to be an issue.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: amazing staff, great breakfast, great room with nice facilities
Cons: nothing
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Lovely host, great place to stay
Cons: All OK
Excellent 8.2
Pros: The staff was very accommodating and kind. The breakfast was excellent with many options. The location is right off of a bus route which was very convenient.
Cons: The bathroom was very small and the bed was not very comfortable.

Good 6.0
Pros: Confounded
Cons: Not suitable for disabled due to steps. Overpriced. Hard to find parking
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Everything was perfect
Cons: The shower wasn’t very powerful
Good 6.0
Pros: Breakfast reasonable, location good.
Cons: Accommodation was ok, but bathroom really tatty.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Probably the best omelette I've ever had. Very good quality breakfast
Cons: Room was boiling and fan didn't help much, but there's not that much the property can do about heatwaves and old buildings where I guess heat rises
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Fantastic location, friendly staff, great value for money
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Sizeable room, comfy bed, wi fi access. Fan provided- useful in this heatwave. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast - lovely poached eggs. Centrally located, at times a bit noisy at front from street but a great choice. Cute courtyard. Thank you.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Staff were exceptional, couldn't be more helpful - they made our stay amazing, next time we are in Oxford we will be staying at the Blenheim Buttery. 10/10 ***** Thankyou!
Cons: Nothing
Good 7.0
Pros: Excellent location, friendly staff and good breakfast.
Cons: We had booked and were charged for a superior king room but were given a classics double but not told this. The room and bathroom was quite small. I had to point out to the manager that this was not what was booked and was then told that there had been a problem with the plumbing in the king room and therefore it could not be occupied. I can understand that this was out of his control but we should have been told this on arrival and not charged the higher price which was only taken when we checked in. He did say he would refund the difference and gave us a free bottle of wine as a good will gesture. I have not see the refund yet though.

Okay 5.0
Pros: Breakfast was poor it was a bag of bits No cooked food and was not told beforehand
Cons: Told us I had to pay for parking ridiculous Never had to pay for parking at a hotel before
Good 7.0
Pros: The room was a family room so was large and spacious. The note was in a great position hair a £10 taxi ride from the city centre
Cons: The noise from the people Upstairs walking on the floor kept us awake as it was so loud
Mediocre 2.0
Cons: The room we were given initially was designed for wheelchair access, with big handles either side of the toilet, handle and seat in the shower and had large dirty marks on the carpet. We was offered an alternative room that wasn’t much of an improvement for a 4* We then learnt the following day that the room wasn’t cleaned, bed made, clean towels provided or toilet roll replenished, etc due to covid which to be honest I think is a poor excuse. We had to ask the staff along the corridors that were turning around the rooms for new guests arriving for clean towels, extra toilet paper etc. They weren’t impressed by our request and certainly didn’t offer this service with a smile!! So our stay was far from pleasurable and we wouldn’t stay again or recommend this hotel.
Okay 4.0
Pros: Friendly and attentive staff Bus stop handy nearby. Parking charges reasonable. Beds were comfortable. Good size tv
Cons: Food from the bar was clearly microwaved and not sufficiently hot. Insufficient tea making facilities in room; only enough for one tea each. Cold coffee from the costa. Swimming pool tiny (especially with 12 people in it). 30 min slots too brief to be meaningful. Changing rooms a bit tired and a bit smelly. Having to have breakfast in the room seemed unnecessary given that you could have evening meal in the bar.
Good 7.0
Pros: Quite.poor and comes all in plastic
Good 6.0
Pros: Was very annoyed that they weren’t doing room service and not serving breakfast 😡
Excellent 9.0
Pros: no
Cons: no
Excellent 8.8
Good 7.6
Excellent 8.2
Cons: No elevators. Long walks to
Excellent 8.4
Okay 4.2
Pros: Breakfast except for The coffee
Cons: Small room, tiny bathroom, small pool Long walk to room No Soap in bathroom No minibar in room
Mediocre 2.8
Pros: the place was clean
Cons: Jurys Inn had no charm. It was a modern space, dorm room style maze. A lot of eastern European workers with no charm. The red head curly haired euro woman need to learn to smile. I hated my stay here. No food at night. Cold AC. Wankers!
Good 6.8
Pros: Staff were friendly
Cons: THe hotel is geting a big refurbishment. Restaurant is closed, so rather than eat breakfast in a conferance room, we went into the city instead. In the bedrooms, the choice of opaque glass door to the bathroom was an odd one. Especially as in my room it faces directly onto the bed. I may look stylish, but is not particularly sound proof! And if anyone wants to us the bath room in thhe night, the doors is lit up like an enormous night light!
Excellent 9.4
Pros: Great Staff! Great workout room and Sauna!

Cons: No car parking spaces or parking permits
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location, room, staff and breakfast were all excellent.
Cons: Nothing
Okay 4.0
Cons: The noise, kept us both awake. Our room was next to a very busy road and throughout the night lorries frequently applied their brakes right buy the room as hotels is located near a bend. Also a lot of steps including to the ensuite. Our room was allocated despite informing the hotel that I’m disabled and have very limited movement. I specifically ask to avoid steps!
Good 7.0
Pros: Location was great.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The Staff. Nothing was to much trouble, even when under pressure due to last minute staff shortage.
Cons: Nothing to complain about
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Staff were polite and friendly. The location was central and the food was good.
Cons: Our attick room was exceptionally hot and noisy due to road noise and we couldn't see out of the small, very high window.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Beautiful room (Henry) Breakfast was superb - no buffet, wide choice of menu options and all freshly prepared Staff were lovely Location perfect for Blenheim
Cons: Dinner menu was a bit limited as a few things not available but what we did have was excellent. We booked close to end of service on a Sunday evening
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Clean, COVID compliant, staff were friendly, comfortable rooms, good bar & restaurant area, excellent food & location
Cons: Nothing to dislike at all planning to revisit when in the area & would recommend to family & friends

Poor 1.0
Pros: Very nice welcoming family.
Cons: Disappointing, wasnt l clean especially bathroom and the room needed upgrade, on a very noisy road with noise from people sat outside under our window chatting . Food dire .
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Lovely family run pub and B&B. Very friendly and helpful. Bar food excellent recommend the curry. Great location for visiting Oxford and Blenheim.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast was great, we both had the full English and it was cooked well and in good time too. Can’t explain to you how nice the management are. It’s family run and they made us feel so welcome and went out of their way to help us in any way. It’s a 10 minute drive into Oxford centre where there’s loads to do. The Chequers is right next to a small church in a really pretty and quaint village. Plenty of choice for food and drinks and the bar, Indian and British food. The decor was lovely too. Well definitely be returning!
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
Good 7.0
Pros: Excellent location to visit Oxford & Blenheim Palace. Lovely fixtures & fittings in the Pub. Our evening meal was excellent, really tasty and very well cooked. Host’s friendly and welcoming. Customer service was very good, especially at meal times. Comfortable bed. Powerful hot shower.
Cons: The Pub lacked atmosphere in quiet times. Background music would have made all the difference, both in the mornings at breakfast and in the evenings. Signal for BBC very poor. Limited car parking spaces. Outside seating area very tired. Would benefit from new tables, chairs & parasols. Plus hanging baskets and flower tubs. Bedroom needed updating.
Good 7.0
Pros: The bed was comfy, the breakfast was great.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Our room was lovely but small , one of the larger bedrooms would have been better suited for our needs but this was not clear at time of booking
Cons: Choice of double or singles at booking
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Dinner was good, go for the curry! Near Blenheim Palace
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Owners and staff very friendly and local people. Food good. Nice bar area and room. Adequate parking and fan provided for hot weather.
Cons: Doors banged a bit downstairs.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very good location for Oxford and Blenheim Palace.

Pros: I paid online requesting also sofa bed, which was readied with linen and extra towels when I checked in -thoughtful! The room and bath were sparkling clean. We didn't need to pay our teenage sons extra for b'fast which was tasty. Easy parking and grocery.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Very pleasant stay. Helpful and pleasant staff. Full room rates feel a bit expensive though.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: We couldn’t t fault our stay, lovely room, great food and staff helpful both on Reception and housekeeping, especially Taylor who cleaned my car after birds made a mess when parked under a tree 😊.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 8.0
Pros: When we arrived our room (38) was an adjoining one and we could the people in the next room to us just having a normal conversation. We flagged this to reception and they immediately moved us to a better room. Really fantastic service and wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We have stayed at The Bear many times over the years and always look forward to a return visit. This time did not disappoint. The room was comfortable, quiet and a great place to relax. The bar area is very cosy to sit either with a coffee or a drink and the staff were as friendly and helpful as always. We hope we can return soon!
Cons: Nothing we can think of.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Typical English country hotel , understated luxury .Very nicely appointed , comfortable , lovely courtyard for drinks and dining . Mostly efficient attentive staff although very occasionally when busy the service can get slightly disjointed . Excellent breakfast . Dinner ok but only dined once and it did not quite live up to its AA Rosette rating . Nothing bad but not exceptional . Nonetheless a throughly enjoyable stay and would do so again
Good 6.0
Pros: Location excellent. Staff polite and friendly.
Cons: Rooms in need of an upgrade. Not compatible with price of £200 per night (single occupancy). Safety chain broken in my room so not secure. Breakfast service appalling. I had stressed that I am gluten free and my poached egg arrived on normal bread. The charge was removed when I complained at checkout. Very disappointing. We cancelled dinner and ate out for breakfast the next day.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The size of the room was great. I loved that the bed wasn't a rock hard mattress like other hotels. Please don't follow that trend.
Cons: The carpet in our room could do with a good clean. There was no fridge which is disappointing for a 4* hotel

Good 6.0
Pros: Lovely room. Very comfortable and cosy with a good bed and plenty of hot water. Friendly Head lady on at breakfast. Plenty of gluten free options.
Cons: Very slow breakfast. Waited along time for the breakfast to arrive. Not very comfortable restaurant or bar area. No evening menu until the restaurant opened at 1900 and then very limited choice.
Excellent 9.4
Pros: The room was clean comfortable and surprisingly modern, refurbished sympathetically. The bed was very comfortable with quality linen. Very friendly welcome and old fashioned customer service standards

Excellent 8.3
Pros: Friendly staff, great breakfast, cosy pub with open fires.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Yes the room are a little dated but they are spacious, very clean and have everything you could want ! The friendly owner let us check in early ! The food was of a good standard ! Lovely cosy pub sitting by the log fire.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful old building lovely village beds very comfortable and lovely shower
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great staff very friendly and helpful. Hygiene is a priority here which is good to see especially their COVID measures. Good breakfast very tasty but more selection would be nice. Excellent location and value for money.
Cons: Good breakfast very tasty but more selection would be nice.
Good 7.0
Pros: Hospitality, breakfast and location close to Woodstock all good. The parking on-site is very good if that is a need.
Cons: The rooms are motel style, separated as a block from the pub and are a little dated, needing some refurbishment. Not a 'vacation' option, but fine for a 'stop-over'. WiFi code was not available in the room and was needed as mobile signal reception is poor in the area. Otherwise fine and reasonable value overall.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The room was fairly basic but the bed was very comfortable, the shower was good. There was a good choice on the menu, very pleased with our meals. The music was great, an excellent mix of popular music, played at a pleasant level. It was a pleasure, thank you Derek!
Cons: Nothing worth mentioning.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The beer garden was lovely very restful over looking the canal easy parking and good bus service for Oxford and Blenheim palace
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Great breakfast!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Excellent location
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The room was clean, functional and well presented. The kettle turned itself on and off a couple of times in the night! Could market with ghosts ha ha ha…👻 The staff were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Bus stop just over the road, making for an easy quick outing into Oxford. On-site parking a bonus. We had a lovely break, thank you.
Cons: The bar shut at 9am, but after a long day walking around Oxford not a problem for us, but may be for others - again to be fair we were not ushered out at 9 and offered the opportunity to buy another drink, but, felt cruel if we did as it was the guys home-time! Full fry up not available until 10am, we knew Thai before booking so not a problem - but, if we could of had full fry up in morning would have paid to have it. To be fair we were offered a continental breakfast outside the room - but like a fry up on holiday.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: It’s perfect for visiting Oxford as the bus is only a few minutes away. The canal beer garden is wide enough to feel safe even in these difficult times. The place is lovely and excellent value for money.
Cons: The room was very small - still functional but small.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The room was clean and tidy. Basic but good for the money. Staff very helpful and and professional. Friendly and understanding.
Cons: No air conditioner so had to open window which overlooks the beer garden very noisy. Traffic was also noisy. Cannot sleep as I was on night duty. So may be it would be better during the night time.
Okay 5.0
Pros: Food was great, Staff were great and helpful and location was good for our purposes.
Cons: Rooms a little tired, dirty marks on bed frame and quilt had seen better days. Photos are all of the bedroom.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It was a good price and a comfortable stay. My little dog was welcome. When I travel to the south in future to visit family I would aim to stay again.
Cons: No complaints A fan would of been perfect in the height of the summer.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Nothing wrong with this as an overnighter on a budget.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: A gem really on the banks of the canal great roast dinners reasonably priced meal and drinks
Cons: No Sunday evening menu Breakfast a little hap hazard with vital things missing from the breakfast bar ie milk fruit juices hot water Plus there were a hell of a lot of flies in the dining area. So something not right there
