Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The rooms, the location, and the friendly and helpful staff
Cons: They don’t pick up their phone due to busyness but it meant there was a miscommunication on parking and we ended up paying for street parking . I tried to call to ask about parking, but again nobody picked up.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The breakfast one of us ordered was incorrect, and no sugars were supplied with the coffee.
Cons: We were meant to have towelling robes and slippers in the room, but they had been overlooked, but were supplied after we rang reception
Mediocre 2.0
Cons: By adding two single beds, thay made one bed 😜sleeping man used to enter inside 😥

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Perfect location, friendly and helpful service.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The location was great and the breakfast was lovely.
Cons: We were on the top floor, which would not be great if you had physical issues and the room was very hot. Unfortunately for us, building work was taking place both next door and opposite, so having the windows open was not an option.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: We had the estuary suite which was spacious and airy and the decor was pretty bright and had a nice shower the room was very clean the negative thing about the room was the furniture which I thought was going to collapse
Cons: The WiFi was pretty slow sometimes it didn't work
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great location, just minutes from town, but out looking over the sea. Lovely, character room, and a great breakfast, sitting out in the front plant filled area in the morning sun. Great helpful staff.
Cons: Noisy seagulls!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The breakfast was lovely

Excellent 10.0
Pros: We stayed in balcony suite for 4 nights lovely and clean
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location was perfect. Very close to the pier. The staff was amazing. Debbie the manager is very friendly and made the stay very comfortable. The room we had was really nice. I was glad we had carpeted flooring. The breakfast was nice. Overall the stay was just perfect. Couldn't fault it. Thanks Debbie for a wonderful stay!!!
Cons: What was there not to like?!?!? Everything was perfect!!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The room was bright and super cute and clean
Cons: Nothing really. Everything was nice
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Loved the location and the owner who greeted us was lovely!! The extras in the room were a treat and it was a good night had by all in Southend!
Cons: The only little thing was the bed was pretty lumpy and uncomfortable, so it gave me a bit of a sore back the following day, but its not the end of the world as I only needed 1 nights stay for a gig I was performing that night…
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast was delicious, veggie options available
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very friendly staff, very welcoming and helpful. The room was quite small, but fine for staying for a night or two, nicely decorated and furnished, with a powerful shower. Very clean. Nice little touches such as complimentary sweets, buscuits and crisps in the room. Very enjoyable breakfast and an excellent location for the town centre and sea front.
Cons: Nothing.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Wow! What a beautiful hotel! Such charm and elegance. The owner, Debbie is wonderful and so lovely! Anything you needed, she was there to help - including my mothers nerves on my wedding morning! Would definitely recommend to anyone for a wedding, or celebration or wanted somewhere to stay that has gorgeous character! xo
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: Great breakfast and location.
Cons: The property on booking.com is a total misrepresentation vs reality. We were totally misold and mislead on our room. We booked a superior double en suite with a sea view. On arrival we were given an attic room on the top floor with no lifts. I really struggled to get up the very narrow steps. The room was stifling hot and the very small window looked out onto bins. Very disappointed and would not stay again. Cobwebs in light shades the rooms were not cleaned for 3 days. Shower box (it was tiny) dirty and grubby. I will not stay here again and booking.com need to review their description of the rooms especially the double executive suite! Should read tiny attic room in the eaves of the hotel only the young and fit will manage the stairs!

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff and a lovely location. The breakfast was delicious and generously portioned.
Good 7.0
Pros: Super friendly staff.
Cons: Rooms were small and cramped
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Well cooked breakfast bright surroundings attentive staff good view
Cons: For us maybe lift or stannah. Ha ha as we are 80s but it was convenient for our family to meet up
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Staff and food are excellent Perfect location
Cons: Room smaller than expected for a premium price Very hot at night, needs air conditioning as right on the road so noisy when windows open. Quite expensive also
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Had an overnight stay at the Camelia Hotel. The room was spotless, spacious and equipped with a TV, hand soap, shower gel, tea making facilities and towels. The hotel is in Thorpe Bay and is ideally situated for easy access to Shoeburyness and Southend on Sea - both within walking distance. Not much to do in Thorpe Bay itself - a quieter beach experience if you're not keen on the crowds that can be attracted to Southend. Staff were helpful, polite and friendly. Seen great reviews about food served, but unfortunately did not get to eat there. Free car parking at the rear of the hotel was handy, but does get busy.
Cons: Would have liked to negotiate a later checkout, but as the hotel was busy this was not possible.
Good 7.0
Pros: The room was very nice, clean and the location was great to enjoy the beach!
Cons: nothing,everything was fine

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Room exceeded expectation and was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good, and we commented at the time about the tasty tomatoes with the cooked option. Parking worked well, and the location, close to seafront, and visits we had planned in the area (walking), and via the seafront open top bus, enabled us to do everything we wanted.
Cons: Liked everything
Okay 4.0
Pros: Not much.
Cons: Everything.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The hotel was in a great location. Room was lovely and clean. Breakfast freshly made and all the staff were wonderful.
Cons: Price
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Location, staff, breakfast was hot and lovely full continental breakfast
Cons: It could do with a bit of refurbishment but was still good
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great location, friendly, helpful staff. Bedroom was spacious & clean. Free car parking.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Place is well run by a charming family. Efficient check-in, Excellent breakfast. Bar is a very nice space, well stocked and well patronised making for a good atmosphere. Room was in relatively good order: good hairdryer, fridge, good fan, plenty of sockets including USB charging points The welcome is warm and friendly and Bertie the owner is very attentive. He and his wife Rita attract a lot of repeat visitors making for a very sociable stay. Lovely little outside terrace for drinks and for smokers. Location, while not directly on the front is ideal for getting about and is nice and quiet. I will definitely be back. Recommended.
Cons: Just minor grumbles: Both bedside lamps broken and one had a blown bulb. Room phone had to be disconnected because it was alarming constantly, bathroom a bit dated, a shower curtain is never a good thing in my opinion.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything
Good 6.0
Pros: Breakfast was great, room was clean beds were comfortable.
Cons: Room was dated and the wardrobes had some rubbish in them plus all the linen for all the rooms, it had a funny old kitchen at the back of the room with a very tatty cooker in and old boots in a cupboard under the sink, it had a back door into the car park which was strange. And the bathroom had a very small window which you couldn’t open, which made the bathroom very steamy.

Okay 5.0
Pros: Friendly staff, room was clean, delicious breakfast.
Cons: There was a wedding reception and we weren't made aware before arrival. Also the bathroom could do with being updated.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Because of covid the usual excellent cooked breakfast was not available, however a very nice little cold bag of breakfast fruit, yogurt and breakfast muffin etc was left outside my door. I look forward to returning to my favourite hotel when breakfast service is back to normal. A very pleasant little boutique hotel.😊
Cons: Because of covid .usual cooked breakfast was not available. But that is not the hotels fault. A good alternative is given.

Excellent 8.0
Pros: The balcony was wonderful with great sea views. They’ve made it homey. It had all the essentials of iron and hairdryer, tea making and a fridge which was fab! The location is amazing.

Excellent 8.0
Pros: The cleanliness of the room and the use of tea/coffee . The swift and helpful man who checked me in and the way we checked out was very efficient and after they checked my room I was able to get the deposit back.
Cons: The basin in the bathroom was quite small which resulted in splashes of water spilling on the floor - i guess with a fairly small bathroom it is difficult to fit in a bigger one. The reception area could be a bit more welcoming rather than a boxed area
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Clean Convenient to station Very friendly staff
Cons: Quite expensive for size of room Old decor
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Old fashioned seaside hotel with non-standard rooms and spaces. It was clean and for a quirky property like this it takes a lot of effort - credit to the staff, they were always working. Staff are friendly and always ready to help.
Cons: Lack of facilities (some Covid related). Could do with an OYO corporate freshen up to give it identity and a clear link to the brand.
Excellent 8.0
Cons: Wiffi wasn’t working properly
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The staff were the friendliest, the room I was given was perfect for me and the location was exactly where I needed it to be..
Excellent 8.8
Pros: The convenience to the station and beachfront. Friendly staff Tiny but compact
Cons: There was a water leak imprint on the slope of the ceiling room 21 and the head board was directly underneath it which I found uncomfortable. There were 2 shared toilet and showers however, they were one floor down. There was no sink in the upper shower room just a narrow cubicle and toilet which I found strange. The second shower room a floor down was bigger However both showers were in need of a refresh of grouting along the shower trays. There was barely any toilet paper in the upper shower room, only one roll was kept in both shower rooms which I found bizarre. The room lock was tricky, a half turn and it would lock but sometimes it wouldn't so I'd kept at it until it would lock. The sink in the room was only sprouting cold water even on hot, the tap was loose as well. The room size was tiny but compact, but the bed was far too soft like a marshmallow and so I didint get a great sleep. You can however overlook all of this as it's fantastic value for money. As it was only one night I didn't have the time or energy to notify them.

Okay 4.0
Pros: The view but windows were both broken
Cons: Nearly everything. The room was dirty, windows broken. Bed uncomfortable
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Staff were excellent, busy breakfast service nothing was a hassle bar staff could not be better really friendly chatted away just decent young people in general .
Cons: Decor was slightly tired , but had no impact on our stay
Good 7.0
Pros: Locality
Cons: The standard of the room was very poor rust round the shower cracked tiles bathroom floor. Curtain hanging off the rails . Windows unable to open .
Okay 4.0
Pros: Bed is very comfortable that's it.
Cons: I booked 3 rooms ( 415(moved to 419), 417 and 426). After checking in went straight to the room. 415 broken window wet carpet and stains everywhere and intercom not working. Went back down to complain. Change room to 419, better but carpet still dirty intercomnot working. 415 no cold water for shower so we can't use it again carpet is really filthy intercom not working as well. 426 same story with the carpet then no hot water @ the evening to take shower broken iron. We need to use 1 shower (419) for 9 heads. Takes time and very unacceptable as this is our family outing. We should be relax not stressing out. The manager in the evening is very kind and very helpful. Give us late check out for us to have enough time to shower as we are only using 1 bathroom. Next day is a completely different story. Not happy the way manager speak to me and the people from the front desk is so clueless for what they are doing. PICTURES from the booking.com is very miss leading. For the price that we paid for is over charge I'll say. It is a hotel with 3 star not 1 star. I love vintage hotel but the cleanliness is very unacceptable.

Good 7.0
Pros: Nice location and liked the decor.
Cons: Prompt shutting of the bar.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We were greeted by Bob at reception. He was a lovely gentleman, extremely friendly! Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean. All in all we had a lovely stay and would definitely come again.
Good 6.0
Pros: Friendly staff.
Cons: The rooms weren’t together. One of the rooms 110 smelt musty/ damp. Breakfast was a bit disappointing.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Room, cleanliness and fairly accesible.
Cons: Staff very cold and the usual early check out and late check in.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: It was near the sea so it was a good view
Cons: Their was a tea stain up the wall
Okay 5.0
Cons: It took up to 1 hour for hot water, reception staff advised us to keep the taps running. Sometimes we tried to call the reception however no one answered. In the end, had to go down to the reception.
Good 6.0
Pros: I stayed in the junior exec room for 2 nights which was great value for money, comfy & spacious but I had to move rooms as needed to extend my stay. The standard double room that I moved into was fine as met my needs but the bathroom was very narrow. The barman was great & friendly even though he was working alone & very busy. The receptionists were very friendly, welcoming & helpful although I called reception a few times from my room but it was never answered. The meals in the restaurant were very nicely cooked & presented.
Cons: Unfortunately there were road works to the front of the building due to re-surfacing for the whole of my weeks stay which was very noisy even before 8am where the workman were moving their vehicles around & constantly shouting at one another to be heard. This also meant that parking was limited in the area so I felt I couldn't relax as much as worrying about parking spots/permits/restrictions. The buffet breakfast was exactly the same thing every day where I found the food to be quite oily especially the fried eggs & mushrooms but the tomatoes were lovely. The large urns weren't labelled initially so lots of people myself included didn't realise one contained hot water for tea & the other coffee but it was rectified after one of the guests pointed it out. I think that there should have been bottled water in the rooms as it was exceptionally hot weather, also jugs of water at breakfast alongside juices but once again the waitress acted upon it after it being requested by another guest. The restaurant in the evening was wasn't particularly well managed where I ordered a starter & a main at the same time ate the starter but waited around 20/25 minutes for fish & chips which was a bit too long where other guests had also mentioned the long wait for service and food. I also went into the dining room one evening at 7.45pm to be told to come back at 8pm due to the chef not being on shift until then, then another evening being asked if I'd booked at all when there was there was only ONE other guest sitting down !! I noticed out in the front of the hotel when taking out a coffee after breakfast that the tables always had used ash-trays, glasses, bottles & cups from the night before which wasn't a good look plus didn't give a great impression to passers by. The lift serving the hotel is very small.
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: Staff were pleasant enough
Cons: Cleanliness was a major issue especially in and surrounding the lift, I didn't see one cleaner in the hotel during a three night stay. The room I got was poor and nothing like the images posted on the website. I would not recommend this hotel. Other issues breakfast was Luke warm (self service hot plate didn't appear to keep the food at a reasonable temperature. I could not in all honesty see how this hotel has been rated as a three star property
Good 7.0
Pros: Room was lovely with a seaview
Cons: Parking. Says on the email that there is a carpark and you download an App. I downloaded the app but no car park. All one way and resident parking around the hotel so was clueless where to park, found this stressful after such a long drive. Phoned hotel who helped and gave different advice to the email they'd sent. No breakfast included in deal although £11 pp if you wanted to buy it separately.
Mediocre 3.0
Cons: Breakfast quality and timing
Good 6.0
Pros: We previously stayed here 46 years ago on our wedding night so when road conditions were treacherous due to snow and we had tickets to see Katherine Ryan at the Cliffs Pavilion (which is within walking distance) we made a last minute reservation. Sadly the show was cancelled but as we had already paid for the hotel we stayed anyway. We got a free upgrade to a superior sea view room which was great. All the staff were really helpful and our evening meal and breakfast were both good. The decor however is somewhat dated and could do with some modernisation.
Cons: Unfortunately there was water on floor in the bathroom which we discovered was from a leak at the base of the sink tap. We put a towel there and that would have then been fine except the following morning when we wanted to have a bath we discovered that even though the plug had been taken out the night before the water was still in the bath!

Okay 5.0
Pros: Lovely staff and it was mainly very clean
Cons: I paid for an executive room with a balcony and got just a standard room, also the beds were not comfy
Okay 4.0
Cons: Looks a bit tired
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel was lovely and quiet very clean hotel will be returning again
Poor 1.0
Cons: Rooms dirty , carpets mouldy , corridors had musty damp smell . Toilet stained
Poor 1.0
Pros: The hotel was adequate and staff were pleasant.
Cons: There were 2 alarming concerns about our 1 overnight stay. 1) The hotel had a very large party of people staying and using the facilities - Absolutely no problem with this at all for us. However there was one very frightening incident when my 55 year wife used the toilets near reception and was confronted and verbally assaulted by 5 large young women. My wife felt extremely intimated and frightened. She managed to get out of the toilets and we headed straight to our room (154). She was shaken by this experience. 2) We went to sleep but were awaken by an extremely argumentative couple who were staying in the room next to ours. They continued to shout and scream at each other and used profanity for over an hour. They sounded inebriated. The walls are particularly thin and we could hear everything. These 2 experiences left us with a very unhappy stay at this hotel.
Good 7.0
Pros: Room
Cons: Location
Mediocre 2.0
Mediocre 3.7
Pros: The staff seemed nice
Cons: Although it is not far from the airport, it is not possible to walk to the airport. I travelled on the train and had to get a taxi from the train and then in the morning back to the airport (c. £7.50 each way) . Consider this when compared to the other airport hotels. - The two big problems with the hotel were- 1. The carpet in my room was physically soaked by the door to the bathroom. I did not realise to just before I was going to sleep as I had my shoes on before. I left very early in the morning and there was nobody at reception to tell them in the morning. I had read a number of reviews saying that the place smelled like there had been a flood. It would seem to me that the issue is more fundamental, whether it's a plumbing or a ground water issue, there are some serious issues. 2. More annoying probably, the WiFi didn't work. I needed to do some work and had to tether to my phone to get any internet.

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Location to front & rail station. Andre & cleaner were very helpful & friendly.
Cons: Old carpet. Old sink. No fridge in room. WiFi wouldn't connect, though it may have been my fault!
Okay 4.0
Pros: The host was pleasant and lent me his charger. There was an extension cord on hand. The size of room was good. Instructions were clear.
Cons: The shower head was filthy, it had limescale and brown rust/dirt in the shower head holes. There were 2 settings on the shower head. The spray was useless, half of it just dripped the rest came out very limp. I resorted to using the second setting where the water came out the centre of the shower head, the pressure was passable but it took a long time to shower. The shower plughole was worn, it was silver/green - The coating had come off.The toilet seat kept moving. There was a large crack in the sink. The visible pipes in the toilet had dust on it and there was brown rust on top the toilet paper holder. The kettle had black particles inside and had to be rinsed out multiple times. There was a secondary hole in the carpet near the radiator and the carpet was heavily stained. Most importantly, security wise, there were no grates on the ground floor window, it opened out 45 degrees. You could step in and out of your room through the window so could anyone else. I couldn't leave it open at night in 23 degree weather, which was stressful. There were also a case of ants and a mosquito. I had left a crossiant in a paper bag on the dresser. 5 hours later when I came back, it was covered in about 20 ants. I slept for 3 hours due to the stress of ants, the mosquito, the hole in the floor next to the radiator in case a mouse popped in, the front door slamming, thin walls , residents talking and hearing other residents TV. It could not have gotten any worse.
Good 6.0
Pros: Location and the friendly approach by reception
Cons: The floor carpet needs a bit of cleaning or renewal
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Close to most things like railway stn , shops , beach , restaurants
Poor 1.0
Pros: Leaving in the morning!!!!
Cons: Everything!!! Dirty in general, bed sheets were not freashly cleaned. One room upstairs was not checked that day as the TV had been left on movie channel with the windows open; it was playing ALL NIGHT long until I left at 0800. There were signs everywhere saying no smoking in side and yet there were cigarette burns all over the floor which was badly stained and on the window sill there where burn marks from cigarettes that were stubbed out. The nets on the window had fallen down and left hanging on one side and they were dirty . The bed was extremely old with ripped fabric the mattress was so old you could feel the springs and touched the divan when sleeping.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Great Location and friendly staff
Excellent 9.0
Pros: everything also not far from the beach
Cons: nothing
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Quiet In Town and close to most things
Cons: nothing
