Hotels near Southend airport

Pros: It is a very well run hotel with friendly helpfull staff and when I did have a slight problem in the early hours it was resolved without any fuss. keep up the good work.

Pros: Lovely hotel and great food

Cons: My room was a shoebox, but I guess you get what you pay for. Also, I was told at reception that breakfast was not served until 8.30 on weekends. I needed to leave for my work by 8.30. I discovered that breakfast started at 8.00 when I went a few minute early to see if I could grab something. I trust this will be corrected as I passed the info onto the hotel.

Pros: Great location, right on the seafront, lovely views from the restaurant area out across the bay. Comfortable, modern, clean, friendly, good parking facilities. Breakfast was first class.

Cons: Bathroom was very cold even with the towel radiator on. I stayed in one of the junior suites on the top floor, with no central heating. Heating was via the air conditioning unit, central heating would have been much preferable.

Cons: Our only complaint was that whereas we were booked in for 5 nights,Monday to Saturday - we were very disturbed to have our bill pushed under the door early on Friday morning which informed us that we were expected to check out that day. The young lady on the Reception Desk was extremely helpful and did get it sorted out, but we feel that it was something that should not have occurred.

Cons: The central heating didn't work. I was welcomed by a confused say 15 year old boy. there was a birthday party of the 13 year old daughter in the residents lounge. I didn;t get the seaview room I boooked. they didn;t eeven have my on line booking. In fact there was not on redeeming facot.

Cons: I did not like the size of the room it was far to small is my knees were touching the shower when sat on the loo. The drains needed sorted as this caused my room to smell and it was far to cold.

Pros: The room was a sea view room and very large, bedroom and bathroom very clean, very very close to southend pier and amusements and to the town centre itself

Cons: bed was hard but that is a personal prefernce and not one that should be held accountable towards the hotel, the noise from the floorboards from the room above was rather loud both in the night and in the morning so not one for the light sleeper

Pros: Staff helpful and welcoming

Cons: Parking arrangements a disappointment, low shower pressure, slightly shabby decor, noise of heating system from early hours. This would be ok as a 2 star but is a poor 4 star and I cant see how this is comparable to other 3 star hotels in the area.

Pros: Awesome, fantastic, welcoming staff. This extended through from reception to managers who were hard working and extremely helpful. I may well need to stay in Southend again, and would return to this hotel without hesitation. My wife booked this hotel based on feedback from previous guests, and I was not disappointed.

Cons: It's probably a bit pricey - but in view of the value, I would be prepared to ignore that in the future. You always get what you pay for, and this place is seriously good.

Pros: The breakfast was really good (a lot of choise), and staff was nice and friendly and the location is very good.

Cons: was noisy. In front of the hotel were few tables and chairs. Other guests were noisy, and we couldnt sleep.

Cons: Cook, turned up for breakfast after we did when we were there waiting at 8am. The waitress was also distraught waiting for him to turn up as she could not get into the hotel. We wanted an early start for a 6 hour drive to Cornwall but had to wait for breakfast as we had already decided to have breakfast before we left, but had to wait for a young cook (not chef) to turn up for work because he was probably pissed from the night before and didn't care about any of the guests. Not very professional and I would certainly dismiss him on this occasion. Gives young people who really want to work a bad name. He doesn't deserve a job.

Pros: We had a most comfortable stay and enjoyed dinner on the night we arrived. The staff were excellent and helpful. We had trouble finding the hotel mainly because of the road works in town and it was dark when we arrived but it would have hleped had the hotel's name been more prominently displayed. Parking was not a problem.

Cons: We were located opposite the hotel in the annexe across a small alley leading to the car park, which we didn't know about beforehand. Very open, but on a rainy windy night, not pleasant getting to the other side. No faults otherwise except for lack of hairdrier in room maybe?

Pros: The room was fantastic, it was a suite. the views were beautiful in the daylight and at night. The food was really good, and reasonably priced as was the bar. I liked the separate apartments block with their own entrance. The breakfast was very good and fresh.

Cons: No TV remote control in the room. Feint smell of cigarette smoke. Breakfast ok but serve yourself.

Pros: The hotel was in a lovely location. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The cooked breakfast the following morning was a welcome surprise as we thought we were only having continental! I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Cons: Although it is not far from the airport, it is not possible to walk to the airport. I travelled on the train and had to get a taxi from the train and then in the morning back to the airport (c. £7.50 each way) . Consider this when compared to the other airport hotels. - The two big problems with the hotel were- 1. The carpet in my room was physically soaked by the door to the bathroom. I did not realise to just before I was going to sleep as I had my shoes on before. I left very early in the morning and there was nobody at reception to tell them in the morning. I had read a number of reviews saying that the place smelled like there had been a flood. It would seem to me that the issue is more fundamental, whether it's a plumbing or a ground water issue, there are some serious issues. 2. More annoying probably, the WiFi didn't work. I needed to do some work and had to tether to my phone to get any internet.

Pros: We previously stayed here 46 years ago on our wedding night so when road conditions were treacherous due to snow and we had tickets to see Katherine Ryan at the Cliffs Pavilion (which is within walking distance) we made a last minute reservation. Sadly the show was cancelled but as we had already paid for the hotel we stayed anyway. We got a free upgrade to a superior sea view room which was great. All the staff were really helpful and our evening meal and breakfast were both good. The decor however is somewhat dated and could do with some modernisation.

Cons: Unfortunately there was water on floor in the bathroom which we discovered was from a leak at the base of the sink tap. We put a towel there and that would have then been fine except the following morning when we wanted to have a bath we discovered that even though the plug had been taken out the night before the water was still in the bath!

Pros: We like the location of the hotel, on both our stays we had sea view rooms and our next stay will also be in a sea view room to make the most of the location. We think that Southend had been improved by the redevelopment of the Hotel.

Cons: Our first stay was one night and the second two nights, our only complaint is the cost of parking and leaving our car in the car park opposite. The first stay cost us approximately £15.00 and the second £24.00. I completely understand that the car park is not the hotels juresdiction but the discount the hotel gets for its guests is a paltry one.
