The location and we were facilitated with an early check in. In paricular the guys on the lower ground floor who took our luggage when we checked out were just brilliant, really friendly and informative. Its a small thing but the base of the night stands were very dusty, and because I suffer from Athsma I am always aware of dust.
Nothing special In the center of China Town. All night street music and monorail. It is not possible to have a rest after hard day.
We liked the restaurant, bar facilities, great bed and very helpful staff. The valet parking worked well and when I had left something in the car I found the staff very helpful. I believe it was overpriced for the standard of the room size and facilities.
It is in a convenient location
Staffs are very kind and considerate. They made us feel welcome and confortable.
very central location yes the water in the evening was not hot, it was ok for a shower but when running a bath the temperature wasn't hot at all.
Hotel and room had everything we required, a pity it is on such a busy street. Staff, particularly at breakfast did not seem to be organised, in fact breakfast on the first two mornings were a disaster, with waiting times of upto 20 minutes for hot food at the buffet and they were continually running out of bread, fruit juices and crockery, seemingly due to the lack of staff & organisation.
AC in room didn't work which meant the room was either hot (with AC on) or stuffy. Tried opening window, but way too noisy outside. Result bad sleep, which isn't good when you need to work hard the next day - the point of staying in a 'good' hotel on a business trip is to enable you to be rested and ready for work.
Good location in the CBD of Sydney, surrounded by shops and restaurants. Room not very big and not very modern. No view at all from my room, despite the high floor (19th).
The concierge service is exceptional. The room was tidy. The location could be slightly better but good overall.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Location was in an area with lots of restaurant choices nearby. Rooms were clean and had all the amenities. Shower stall leaked into bathroom floor area. Pillows were very hard on the neck.
The location was very good. The bed was very comfortable
Location to Darling Harbour We didn't get the coffee machine as advertised ???? no big deal.
We found it was ideally suited being so close to the CBD and the many attractions in that part of the city. No
The fantastic staff, who were very friendly and helpful. It was also great that I was allowed to check into my room really. I really appreciated it. The location of the hotel is also superb! I had trouble opening my door on several occasions. It often took several swipes of my card to access my room. I also was confused about the card required to access the fridge of food and drinks on my floor. The information I was given on check-in indicated that I had received one as a matter of course, but I did not get one and was worried about being charged $10 for losing something I never received.
Great hotel , Very frendly staff
i found the staff at the Mecure very polite and helpful. the room was clean and well maintained, and we had a wonderful stay. The hotel was centrally located and very convenient. nothing
The bed plus the espresso machine
It was great being so close to the centre of Sydney. The staff were very helpfull and nothing was a problem.
Closeness to the public transport and to dining facilities No
Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. I found the room expensive for the night, though understand it is likely the high season and also a Saturday night. However, I have stayed in many hotels much nicer for less in Sydney and internationally.....no real complaints though. I would stay here again for sure if the rate was more reasonable.
Convenient location Bed uncomfortable
Beds were comfortable. Good selection at breakfast - although breakfast room very crowded on occasions. Bathroom was rather basic. Fairly long walk into the centre of town (although fairly convenient for China Town restaurants)
The hotel is a a great facility and in the middle of downtown Prices in all of Sydyn are extremely high. Parking was outrageous
I loved everything from the location of the hotel to the luxurious rooms and the beautiful architecture! The service was excellent! Nothing.
The location is great. The hotel is close to everything from shops, supermarket, office, parks, restaurants. The room is spacious and the bed was very comfy. Two towels of 4 were badly washed. They still have some stain in them. Breakfast could use more variety for the price they are charging. Some staffs at the conscious were not friendly.
location, to shops/railway station, and efficient reception, courtesy from staff good value for money, for an overnight stay before flying out not to keen on having $50 frozen on our bankcard account
The price was very reasonable and the facility was really good. The location was perfect. It was located in the main street, Gorge St, and it was really convenient. As it is located in the center of the city, there are so many shops around this hotel and I could go and have meals easily.
Location--close to Central Station. The bed was really uncomfortable. I hadn't slept in nearly 24 hours, and I could barely sleep on this bed. The rest of the room served its purpose moderately well, but was in desperate need of a bit of color/an upgrade.
Good location No complementary bottle of water for guest
Excellent. Strongly recommended !
Very convenient to central station and for the free bus to Circular Quay
all roung good budget accomodation with neat clean facilities with helpful staff. Close to rail transport a nd walking distance to cbd
Great location Tiles in shower need good scrub, carpet dirty. workmen started renovations at 7am in room next door and woke us up.upon mentioning this to reception at checkout, the person at checkout didn't seem to care
Fantastic location, 2 minute walk from Central Station, it was good value for money, in essence, the hotel did what it said on the tin. Room was smaller than I would have liked but for the price, I can't complain too much! N/A
Basically, the only good thing about it is that it's in the city centre. It's expensive, ugly, uncomfortable, low quality service and food.
Location The walls were very thin. I could hear other people's t.v.'s, talking on their phones etc. I even had the extraordinary experience of sitting up in bed watching tv and getting a massive bump in the head from the people in the next room hitting the wall. I was pushed forward like when you stop suddenly in traffic! Certainly a first for me!
bay view (you need to pay extra for that), you can walk on the long beach terrible cleaning, very old hotel needs a major renovation, common corridors and the room is smelling.
the staff were excellent!! the gaming room/bar staff made our stay extremely pleasant and the front desk staff were very helpfull and always carrying a beautiful welcoming smile :) these members of your team are a credit to you. thank you no hash browns at brecki!!! just kidding the food, staff, rooms, view were great!! would definately come back!!
The Restaurants & Cafes in the Area are great, the people in them understand customer service & great food. The room looked run down & is need of a refurbishment, the bed was saggy, the TVs too small, the carpet was worn in sections & the overall cleanliss of the Hotel needs to be addressed post haste. For the price we paid, we were not impressed at all. The Bar staff, especially the Duty Manager on Saturday afternoon, were not friendly & appeared to be disinterested in the customers. We paid for a Bay View Suite, but all we saw without going onto the Balcony, was the Unit blocks accross the road. Very disappointed overall!
View of the Airport and Botany Bay, nice restaurants nearby. Good breakfast buffet. Having to pay for extra for parking after paying for the room. Most hotels provide this as an inclusion. Need a display of the accomodation which demonstrates which room you are actually going to get, (similar to when booking seating at a venue, or for rooms on ship cruises) allows for more informed choice. The following two questions should not be multiple choice, it is more complicated than that. Let me just say that the hotel ranked among the more expensive for really no better facilities, it relies on location rather than service. I have stayed at better hotels, for example in Noosa Heads, where the location and rooms are far superior yet the price is far more reasonable.I would suggest that unless it is the 13th or 14th flor, $250 max
The proximity of the hotel to the Sydney airport. The $250 price tag per night was very excessive. Will stay at cheaper hotel in future. Hotel interior needs upgrading especially the carpets. No access to the fitness area or indoor pool unless we paid extra money. This was not specified when I made the booking.
the hotel staff as usual were excellent, the rooms are great I have stayed in this hotel before and always found it to be of the highest quaility, this time ther was was ono mini bar I found this strange and disappointing for a hotel of this stature
Great location for a stop over, lovely beach, excellent pool very convenient for airport.
Very nice Yes,no pick up the dinner platte, the dirty dishers stay in the all way all night, not so good
The late checkout Proximity to restaurants/cafes Size of room The view out the window The cost of the buffet and a la carte menu at the restaurant
The hotel staff were very welcoming and the general feel of the place was one of spaciousness and comfort. The restaurant was very variable in quality. Lunch was ok, but the dinner as was poor and over priced.
The food was good. That's about all that was good. I didn't like the reception staff attitude nor did I appreciate my orders being taken 40mns after sitting at the table.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and also really liked the restaurant downstairs, excellent value for money. The room was spotless and had everything we required.
able to book the room late We were over-charged $100 on our bank account and I still havent had a response to my messages.Further, it was a far more expensive taxi ride from the airport than we thought ($60-$70), with no airport shuttle service available
Proximity to my office and the surrounding Crows Nest Size of bathrooms
Hotel is new, and everything is clean and fresh. It has a modern, minimalist style. Design seemed to be a priority over function at times. For example, the bathroom vanity looked great, but was so small it hardly served the purpose it was supposed to provide. Regular rooms are on the road side of the street and very noisy. There is an additional fee for rooms on the quiet side.
The location suited my working arrangements but otherwise it is hard to get to. The service is inconsistent; after a few days the casualness of the cafe becomes a reverse attraction. The frequent morning conferences roll out into the public area and detract from any sense of ambiance in the breakfast area. I had to turn back meals and even then didn't achieve my cooking preference, and little things like lack of bath mats, failure to deliver newspapers and a lot of street noise - at the end of my stay I was well and truly ready to leave.
the staff were soo helpful and friendly. rooms were a little small
Staff very affable and wiling to help. Meals were of good standard Needed to get the key recalibrated three times
Everything! The room was big, Modern & Clean. The food in the cafe was lovely and good value and the staff were very helpful and friendly. :-) The internet prices
The Freindly and helpfull staff, with extra thanks to Will.
TV in the shower! Nothing
Good customer service. Slightly long check in time.
The courtesy of staff and its location The rooms are quite small and the drains in the showers don't work well
Excellent location Clean and comfortable rooms Room service was ok, but not great tasting Movies list was limited
Gym and Executive floor accessorites Nothing
The spa was out of order for our last day
It was my wife's 60th birthday and the little extra touches they did made the stay all the better. Great Hotel.
Quality hotel. Valet parking was efficient, rooms were as advertised i.e. clean, modern with a relaxing feel air-conditioning noisy when actually trying to fall asleep
Hotel staff were very helpful and catered to all needs, the location is excellent for shopping & night clubs.... and the best was the Buffet Breakfast
We have never stay in a luxry hotel before and decide after being together for 34 years it would be nice
Good facilities, good restaurant, nicecasual bar, good bed, quiet rooms for airport Pillows - feather werent soft went really hard - need a choice
Pleasant room, quiet, helpful staff
Great facilities, good service, good location. Room smelt on cigaretes on ckeck in.
Comfortable Room, Friendly Concierge/Front Desk Staff Fish n Chip prices too steep....$26.00 for two bits of fish and semi warm chips!
close to the airport. rooms were clean and comfortable the temperature controls did not seem to work in the room. the restaurant staff were difficult to communicate with in English. food was ok but not great - overpriced for the quality
the hotel was great. No problems at all. the only issue is that the rooms were fairly small, but the hotel is in a big city, very close to the airport.
The location to Sydney Kingsford-Smith airport was very good. The lobby was well kept up and the bell service was quick to unload our bags and bring them to our room. The bathroom in our standard room was well designed, including stone/granite counter tops and new(er) showers and toilets. Room includes a mini-bar. The room was a bit dated (e.g. the lights and fixtures) and the carpet was a bit worn. The mini-bar is a bit expensive, but that's my own fault for using it! The only remaining gripe is that the airport shuttle is not free, it was $6 per person. Also the shuttle stops off at the domestic terminal first, before going to the international terminal, so factor that in when planning your arrival time to the airport.
Everything was clean and well kept. I didn't like that there was no complimentary wifi. I can understanding having caps to minimize streaming but it would be nice to have some basic browsing ability.
It was comfortable and clean and for the purpose of convenience, it was right at the airport. Found the breakfast buffet a little short of staff. An omelet we ordered, never did come and there seemed to be no one to ask about it around.
Close to the airport Friendly staff Clean Good price Exercise room No restaurants near by other than the two owned by the hotel.
The restaurant food was actually pretty good. I know it's a USA type of complaint but there was no ice and my room service request for it didn't arrive for more than an hour until I then called back and bought a can of soda pop, which arrived thirty minutes later.
Great staff. Clean well appointed room. Swimming pool andfitness room a bonus. Airport shuttle good. Restaurant food so so and over priced. Not many other food options.
Free upgrade at check in to a room with a harbor view None
Staff very helpful No pool. No bath. Found an old shoe under the bed. Not so clean.
Convenient location, clean, modern There was a significant construction project blocking the front entrance and the street in front of the hotel during our stay.
Centrally located, spectacular water view, balcony for fresh air which is so rare for hotels these days. The poor positioning of the shower head and shelf must be a mistake. You need to stand flush against the wall to have a shower.
The hotel was in a good location with easy access to all attractions the staff were friendly and very helpful with info about the area, easy to find from the airport Could be better priced ... thought it was expensive and did not include breakfast as most other hotels in the area were cheaper and had same facilities and included breakfast
The only thing I liked was the availability of the outdoor pool and access to internet in the lobby. When I arrived and walked into my room, it smelled horrendous. Then walking into the bathroom their was some object of grossness in the shower. We called immediately and transfered to another room that was ok, but still had an odd odor. Then later in the evening, when coming back from dinner their was puke in 2 of the 4 elevators just sitting there. The front desk was informed, but really didnt act on it. I had to ride up to my floor with puke on the ground cause the other 2 elevators were taking too long. I spent 475 dollars for the one night.....I was extremely disappointed. Didnt even bother to try and get a refund.
Close procimentry to Darling Harbour & Star City & Entertainment Centre & China Town & paddys Markets & Sydney Aquiriam
The location at Darling Harbour-It is so easy getting to anywhere-We went to two shows one at the opera house and one at the olympic stadium--The food is varied and great. A bit surprised to find that I was charged a fee for using a Visa card, the room is very expensive as is, and then to find another $22 on top of $1400.00 for a 3 day stay I found a bit pathetic, not that the $22 is a lot, but one feel is that really necessary from a hotel of this class?
the breakfast was lovely, and it is very handy the position, the bathrooms need a fan
Its location No
being very handy to darling harbour, central sydney
I enjoyed the closness to the city of Sydney and the harbour side views from our room. The additional cost of the car parking. The lack of exhaust fans in the bathroom.
close to the city
Position Too far from airport,
Room was clean and well laid out - design of room made it easy to use. The bed was very hard
We were looking for somewhere close to public transport and also within walking distance of the shopping centre. Travelodge has both. We were very happy with our stay and the room was perfect. You must remember this is not luxury accomodation, it is convenient and affordable accomodation. The room was very clean and was serviced as well ( i did not expect that). For the price we paid I would give it 10/10. thank you for a wonderful easy time in a busy city. We chose this hotel for the rate and the location, its perfect.
we did not have far to walk to area ie shops, sydney opera house etc some where to get a drink in the evening at the lodge
the location is good. You can explore the centre of Sydney easily by foot. I think it was quite expensive for the equipment which is very basic.
The room was not very clean
I loved that the hotel was such good value for Sydney city centre. The staff were really helpful and friendly and the room we stayed in was of a very high standard which was cleaned daily. Nothing
Good Location The first room i got had a very very bad smell that didn't go away ... the hotel stuff tried to put some machine there to get the smell out and it didn't work so i had to get another room.
the location Our bed was tiny. I am 5 foot 9 and my husband is 6 foot 2 and both of us had feet hanging over the edge. Very uncomfortable. It was also located right next to the vending machines which were noisy.
Stayed the night here in order to get to the airport for a morning flight. The room was clean, staff was friendly. Overall a good place to stay. Would definitely stay again. Like others have said, free wifi is a joke. Was able to download my email and that was it. Also, the elevators were pretty slow in the morning.
Poor hotel staff, poor service and rates not always as posted.
close to shops and places of attractions
My husband and I had a fantastic one night getaway. It was amazing, service outstanding and relaxation perfect.
professional staff and attention to detail and cleanliness
The staff were amazing, the best hotel staff I have come across in Australia
The reception staff were very friendly and efficient coupled with the room service staff who were professional, courteous and friendly. With many people at breakfast it was obvious the staff had difficulty coping with large queues, tables not set properly, inattentive staff.
Great hotel location affording some rooms great views. Excellent bathrooms, comfortable beds. Lots of people obviously love it - maybe it helps if you upgrade to the Horizons Club, though I don't see why you should have to, especially as these rates not always on offer. Reception shambolic: no welcome, no porter, no offer of help with bags, no offer to join loyalty programme, told me the Shangri-La in Singapore is tired and needs updating! No apology for not correctly processing reservation. Horrible view of motorway toll booths. Annoying things in the bedroom like unplugged lamps, missing glasses, grubby hotel directory. Food and beverage not good. Saturday night the locals all book up the top floor restaurant and fill up the adjacent bar. Reserve days in advance or you have no chance. For a drink this leaves the Lobby Bar. Neon-lit chilled food cabinet, no music, no atmosphere, bright lighting. Nasty. Only available food outlet The Cafe. Horrible buffet. Dreadful, expensive, over-rated.
washroom is quite clean and look nice..the hotel is in town, easy to travel around. Its very small hotel and hardly notice from the road.
Reasonable location - good bus connections Extremely basic accommodation for a "boutique" hotel. Room was single size with double bed
not much tv shower view (another wall) no draws or chairs small bathroom sink but nowhere to put your toiletries.excessive outside noise.
The staff was EXCELLENT! Every person I interacted with at the desk was professional, friendly, and helpful. I think the lounge is over another restaurant and the aromas from that restaurant were a bit strong. But that was MINOR compared to the location, staff, cleanliness and interesting architecture of the bldg.
The hotel is perfectly situated, close to the railway station an city bus stop. Room (deluxe) was realy nice and clean, but too small. There is also a loundry and a lounge area, where you can prepare your own food. The hotel entrance is not nice.
There is one lady who is extreamly mean at the reception. I was very upset to her since she didn't want to tell me how to get to the airport by bus and train. I saw her smoking in front of locker place during her work time. It was my last day in Sydney and she made me feel real terrible.
Handy for transport very close to Central station, monorail, bus routes. Walking distance to Darling Harbour - good shopping nearby. A little noisy, especially from the cafe/bar area but this did not detract from our stay.
The close proximity to city centre and transport systems. Easy access to restaurants. Security system employed by the hotel especially after 10pm. Being near the city centre noise was inevitable but was very intrusive at times. Shouting and screaming by young people leaving clubs in the early hours was a problem most nights. Work on a tower block across George Street was also a problem after the Easter break had finished.
The location of the hotel and the staff
very cute boutique type hotel, modern rooms, great position for market shopping the unique combination of older style building with modern style
It's location in the city was what I liked best
close to airport and their shuttle bus service
Shuttle service to and from airport
Proximity to the airport, nice and comfortable room. Transfer to the airport even in early morning - the first transfer from the Hotel to the airport leaves at 5.00 a.m. I was lucky to get a taxi that brought someone to the Hotel, as I had to be at the airport at 4.00 a.m. The restaurant should be opened at least up to 22.00.
Comfortable beds - clean and satisfactory room. Good food. Entry Gate arrangements. There is no need for a ticketed entry - in my opinion
Its proximity to the airport and ease of parking arrangements and late check out time. Bed was clean and comfortable and the room had all the basic features for an adequate overnight hotel stay. Poor staff attitudes. Long queu at check in. The waiter in the restaurant got the meal orders wrong. The light switches in the room were difficult to find. At check out I was charged for services I had not received (airport transit bus).
The location, a nice walk near the hotel around a lake, golf course and park within walking distance. There was a shuttle service at $6 each to the airport, we found it a bit hectic getting on the shuttle bus, although the drivers were good, just too many people wanting to get away at the same time of the morning.
location close to the airport was very, very, very, very (15 words) convenient expensive
Room was nice. Shower good 1. Internet passwords after multiple attempts and calls wouldn't gain access. 2. Difficult to sleep due to construction outside and hearing doors slam in the hallway. 3. Temp difficult to control 4. Don't use the shuttle service if can be avoided. It's slow
I chose the Mercure for it location & proximity to the International airport as we were flying out early the following day.The convenience of being able to obtain a meal at the bar suited us.
Bed was comfortable Size of shower. Delay in checking in. I was told the room had to be made up from previous guest. However the Air Conditioning and the toilet did not work so, no one had stayed in that room the night before. I waited 6 hours to check into a malfunctioning room. The repairs were made to the room (Toilet O ring and AC fuse in ceiling) and I was offered two other rooms that were not acceptable (stains on floors and toilet not working in one room) so I returned to the repaired room. All the room changes took an hour and no one helped me with my bags except once. Then the stay was very nice. Clean and a good bed. TV had few choices.
room not big enough to accommodate large suitcases; no safe in room; breakfast an expensive add on
The buffet breakfast, included in the room rate was much better than expected 1.Only one easy chair in the room making it difficult for two people to watch TV without using the bed (which we do not like doing. 2.
Location. The superior room on level 12 turned out to be fairly nice. The bathroom was adequately clean.
The location to city. Under car parking and security. Slow male staff service on arrival even though we were pre booked. Room heating is well below average, almost cold.
The location, rooms were of decent size. The elevators were really slow.
Despite the location it wasn't noisy.
The rate, together with the value for money, facilities, cleanliness, friendly staff and central location. Our stay was very pleasant with no areas for critisism.
It is at good location. The room is not very clean and it is rather small.
Breakfast was sufficient. The WiFi internet connection. Rather poor price/performance ratio. No cable TV, i.e. international (news) channels.
Lack of information to avoid surprises regarding the facilities and payment of car parking.
Value was good. Close to CDB Fridge didn't work. Forced to drink warm beer haha
The Metro Hotel at the intersection of Pitt and Campbell Street was a good choice for me on holiday while abroad. It's a quick five minute walk to Central, which was very convenient for me because I used only public transport in Sydney. The room was clean and updated. The staff was very helpful when asked a question. The only gripe I have is the hotel charged extra for Wifi.
Appreciated that room was ready on arrival so check in was allowed early. Friendly staff.
Room was clean, good facilities, easy access to interesting parts of Sydney. On the first morning there was no hot water in the shower. This was corrected later in the day.
Clean, comfortable and safe room. Well located. The hotel itself and the staff were great. Noise from rubbish truck at 3am one morning was the perfect but unwelcome wake up call... 20 mins worth. Apart from that, noise no problem.
no in room food service
Aarons was convenient, clean, comfortable and affordable.
It was close to the Sydney CBD and Darling Harbour & Mono Rail I left my pillow in the room. Don't suppose you would send it to me? No close by night life except for Jades Bar.
Very convenient to markets, eating places, transport. Noisy.
The hotel was walking distance to Chinatown, Darling Harbour, & Circular Quay... N/A
Close to everything in Sydney! Market City to Circular Quay!
In the city and close to amenities and meeting places. Indifferent front office staff; poor breakfast choices on site.
I loved the great location across from Market City with all of it's dining and shopping options. From t-shirt and fresh fruit and vegetable vendor kiosks in the basement to the Food Court and sit-down restaurants upstairs and everything else in between - even a supermarket! The location is also excellent for its access to public transportation and proximity to the CBD while being very quiet. The carpets are really dirty and should be replaced. Also, during my stay of almost two weeks, I had to kill two cockroaches (about 1 cm). The cleaning staff was otherwise diligent in their efforts.
Central position Inefficient staff (no record of prior payment) very noisy room next to lift. Hotel needs to invest in double glazing or sound proofing.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast Comfortable room.
a comfortable hotel in a quiet area but within walking distance of the main attractions
The people, the views, the comforts
I particulary liked the quiet efficiency of the place - i5t ran so smoothly. No
Very helpful staff and excellent food and beverage service and facilities; very well located in an interesting and historic neighbourhood
The high tea and staff - Problems regulating the shower -didn't adjust quickly -the room had features like a shop..... Prices on everything....not a good feel for a luxury hotel!! The hotel's site advertising for nye led us to believe there was a special allocated spot on Observatory Hill for guests - we were disappointed
Heaven on earth does exsist ,it's The Observatory Hotel Sydney.Staff, facilities all supurb maybe the bed could be improved with a feather topper as a standard .as it is in most 5 star
Although our stay was short we thoroughly enjoyed The Observatory Hotel and would not hesitate to stay for longer next time.
Staff, remodeled rooms, attentiveness Nonsense harbor views, poor front entry for valet, chicken salad from room service was disastrous.
We had a complimentary upgrade to a harbor view suite. This room was outstanding in every respect. We had a light supper served in the bar. Excellent service.
