Renting a car is the best option compared to using a taxi if you plan to multiple destinations in Quito and other parts of Ecuador. You will save a lot on the overall costs.
Collecting your car when you opt for a car rental at Quito Mariscal Sucre Airport is quite effortless. Head straight to your preferred company’s rental counter to start the process. The car rental desks are in the Public Arrivals section at the Passenger Terminal. Don’t forget to carry all the requested documents. At the car rental counter, you’ll present these documents and fill out certain forms, and then a staff member of the rental agency will escort you to the pick-up location outside the Terminal. Carefully inspect the vehicle for any dents or damages before starting your trip. Also, make sure your maps are working and in your preferred language since most road signs in Ecuador are in Spanish.
The process of returning your car rental is straightforward. Most car rental suppliers have a drop-off point in your rental agreement, while some might just let you park it in the initial pick-up spot. You should also note that car rental agencies have a return period. You should return the rental car within the set timelines to avoid additional fees. Confirm if your company has a 24-hour return policy to know if you can drop off the rented vehicle after working hours. After dropping off the car, conduct another round of inspection to ensure it’s in the perfect technical state. You should also make sure you’ve adhered to your company’s vehicle fueling policy. After confirming everything’s right, collect your items from the car and head to your rental company’s desk to complete the handover.

Quito Mariscal Sucr Airport car hire reviews and directory
Terrible!!! They did not have a car in the same class as the one I booked. I was not offered any solution. Then the car they did give me had a flat tire. I had to visit the office three times to get it sorted (impacting my trip). Also, their insurance scam is terrible. I bought premium insurance and I had a letter of coverage but they still forced me to buy expensive insureancs that more than doubled the cost of my rental. They did not offer any solution. I agreed to a $30,000 hold on my card which I had credit for but they could not process it.
