9.2 Excellent
Pros: My mother and I visited for three nights, as we wanted a comfortable place to stay whilst planning to investigate the local area. We were warmly welcomed by Helen, the current Manager of the property, and shown to our room with no hassle. She went out of her way during our 3 night stay, to ensure we had everything we needed, including food and drink to meet (my) awkward dietry requirements. The room was lovely. It was spacious, clean, calm and opened out onto our own private patio. Parking was available. Tea and coffee/kitchenette in the room. Fluffly bathrobes and a huge bed. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice, both cooked and continental and the actual breakfast room was light and airy. Location was great too, if you don't mind a walk, the town centre is about 20 minutes away, but if you prefer to drive, it takes just a few minutes. There are plenty of pubs nearby and other villages, towns and tourist attractions, all within easy reach.
Cons: The pillows were a little bit'stiff' and the room could be better sound proofed. We could hear the guests in the room above.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic B and B. Lovely welcome and delicious breakfast.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy, no fuss arrangements and comfortable room. Good breakfast.
Cons: Quite a long walk into town.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice location and friendly welcome and comfortable, room was large enough for a family. Breakfast was every nice too.
Cons: A lot of spiders webs which could have been easily cleaned.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was perfect in every way, I celebrated my Birthday, and the lovely owner gave me and my daughter a massage and it was fantastic, a option when you stay, not to be missed !
Cons: Nothing to dislike
10.0 Excellent
Pros: holy smokes, thats a touch question, from the second I arrived I felt like I was home, a very friendly but not forced welcome. I was told I was in the "Small Single" but I knew that when I booked it, the room is small but it exceeded my expectations. it was very well equiped and the bed was super comfortable. the shower was gorgeous and the TV was out of this world - I travel with a Google Chrome device and watch my Netflix, Amazon Prime, showbox and cartoon HD, the tv in the room was so so so clear, it was like HD on steroids. Later in the evening I went downstairs and aske for a fork, long story but I like pot noodles - dont ask. I talked to "The Chef / owner" and he asked if I was The Vegan !!!!! - I happen to be but was not the one he was talking about - but as it happened, they had vegan sausages :-) - So my breakfast was amazing. All in all a fabulous stay at an amazing BnB run by two of the nicest people you would want to meet - it seems nothing was too much trouble and they bent over backwards to make my stay amazing.
Cons: nothing, it was perfect - very friendly staff, great location, indian next door, free parking and very very quite - prefect location and perfect place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and welcoming
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was the key Breakfast was home cooked and plentiful
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really good value guest house - lovely rooms ,very clean and comfortable ,everything you need for a good stay . Rooms and common areas very bright and spacious . Delicious breakfast - all cooked to order -and very helpful polite staff - would recommend ++

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent place to stay in the centre of the town. Breakfast was excellent and staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming property, friendly owners and staff, cooked to order breakfast. Easily found parking on the street and overnight parking is also available in nearby lot. Minutes away from Stonehenge visitors center. Lovely Indian restaurant (Tandoor Nights) a few doors down. Would stay again
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice comfortable B&B, very close to most facilities and shops. Although it is on the High Street it is very quiet, parking in the Heath Centers car park is possible (check with the owners) or in the large pay and display car park to the rear. Can't really comment on breakfast as we just have coffee and toast but looked fresh from what other people we enjoying. Just off the A303 and only 4 miles from Stonehenge etc. Would recommend for a short break, we stayed 2 nights.
The Compasses Inn - Salisbury - Building
6
9.2 Excellent (370 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Salisbury, The Compasses Inn is in the historical district, within a 15-minute drive of Messums Wiltshire and Wardour Castle. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have been travelling with our cat and the host was very kind to accept our reservation and did not charge us for staying with the pet. Compasses Inn is a unique fusion of a traditional English country pub with stylish modern rooms - our room was spacious and immaculate clean, with tea and coffee facilities and fresh farm milk and homemade chocolate chip cookies (Yummie) as a treat! The bed was comfortable, we had a really good sleep there. We had a choice of 4 or 5 different breakfast options from full English to porridge and toasts, there were also cereals, yoghurt, jams, juice, tea and coffee, etc available for your choice. Breakfasts were excellent. The food in the pub downstairs was delicious either. There's a big parking lot which might become full in the evening when locals come to meet with family and friends. The location was perfect for walks and as a base for short breaks.
Cons: There's nothing to dislike really. We would love to return. This is no one's fault, rather a notice to visitors - please be careful with the shower head holder that has sharp edges, I managed to cut my back really badly.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Large comfy bed, good toiletries, great food and wine, friendly and knowledgable staff.
Cons: Can't be helped but noise from the bar can be heard in room 1
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the accommodation it's was so clean and the staff were all so welcoming in showing us to our room and telling us about the facilities. The breakfast in the morning was great and and the atmosphere was lovely and calm.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was lovely and comfortable with excellent bathroom facilities and firm bed. The staff were really agreeable and helpful, in spite of the booking system not giving us the room we had booked! Evening meals were lovely.
Cons: We have stayed twice now and eighteen months apart. On both occasions, the breakfast was chaotic and ill-organised. We were first in, but were served after three other tables who arrived later; coffee and toast came out in dribs and drabs and the other tables kept having to ask for various missing things. The chap serving said it was because they only had one person in the kitchen, but in fact it was fairly clear it was just disorganised. He didn't take orders as people arrived, he waited until all tables were seated then went round randomly taking the orders. Not sensible! And of course the chaotic nature of the service caused disgruntlement, not to mention how much extra work he gave himself by the inefficiency of his method. We finally left without the toast we had twice been told was 'on its way'. Seems such a shame, the food here is lovely, the staff most agreeable, BUT... it is really important to get breakfast right.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant breakfast - especially loved the black pudding
Cons: My evening meal wasn't great - the fish and chips were burnt and the mushy peas had become a solid dried mass. I didn't complain because there was a large group (24) booked in at the same time so I knew everything wouldn't be right.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was fine. Parking easy. Tea making facilities in room were good Bathroom and linen very good Very relaxed atmosphere Would return to stay again, as very convenient to visit friends in the area
Cons: Breakfast only started at 9am (9-10)- I had to leave by 8.15 and there was nobody about and if I had wanted even some toast or a continental, no one there to ask to provide, but they did tell me that on Sun eve. Also - if I had not offered to pay before I left for our local event on Sun evening I could have left without paying.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We had a great 3 days, and were well looked after. The staff are to be congratulated.
Cons: The local traffic was a nightmare, but to be expected.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old pub with clean bright bedrooms and ensuite
Cons: Breakfast was at 9.00amI’d have preferred an earlier option as this breaks into the morning when we were wanting to get up and leave to sightsee!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was super comfortable. Ambience was excellent.
Cons: Little bit tricky to find. Some extra signage would help.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything - our third visit this year so need I say more
Cons: The room we stayed in was a little noisy from the kitchen outside

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great room and great food.
Cons: Room had just been serviced and smelt of chemicals. They put themselves out to find us a better room, without question.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had room 5 which was very good! it was clean and come with a N'espresso machine with complimentary pods and still and sparkling water, along with all the usual freebies. we also had a bath in the bedroom which was a nice luxury to have.
Cons: We went for 1 night on a Saturday so it was quite load outside, though with this being a listed I'm not sure there would be much the hotel could do to silence out the noise.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The restaurant and bar area were excellent and the staff very helpful.
Cons: The timber work to the windows are desperately in need of repainting!!’
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Lovely, clean, well appointed rooms. Great location.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel , fantastic food but book up even if your a guest as we couldn’t get a table for 2
Cons: We was told we could eat in the court yard so we went to Anoka which is very good
7.1 Good
Pros: Really good food in the in-house restaurant. Helpful staff. Quirky floors and ancient building.
Cons: Details such as non-functioning extractor fan in bathroom, shower door leaked, toilet flush not working properly, only one chair in a double room. All these are minor things that could easily be put right.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect
Cons: Nothing at all, we loved it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were beautifully decorated and clean. Quite spacious. Toiletries are good quality. Service from everyone was excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. Breakfast was good with a lot of choice. I would not hesitate to come back and have already referred them to family and friends.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing is good - have maybe once been a charming pub with rooms upstairs.
Cons: Receive your guests friendly with respect. Our booking though booking.com - the hotel only had 1 room booked even I had a mail with a confirmation for 2 rooms. Water was dripping from the ceiling when it rained. Due maintenance of the rooms and restaurant, make fresh food etc etc…..
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Relaxing and very central for shopping.
Cons: NA
4.4 Okay
Pros: If you happen to be traveling to salisbury and want to tour the cathedral, you can't get a better location as it is right across from the entrance to the grounds. The staff were very friendly and competent, the rooms were well maintained and the bathrooms were spacious and very clean. But this inn is very old, the rooms are very tight, and it just isn't that comfortable. We did not feel there was adequate value for our rate of GBP100/night (jul09).
3.2 Mediocre
Pros: the quantness of the place, floors and walls sloping in all direction, which is not suprising for a building over 400 years old.
Cons: Very poor value for money, no services, reception closed @ 1800pm, no hotel lounge as such, only a bar/resteraunt.
7.2 Good
Pros: Clean and tidy with the only non-euclidean staircase in existence.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and a great ability to fulfil all our needs! I booked the hotel initially for my wedding night! We ended up having our wedding reception there as well and was a fabulous day, food and service was great and couldnt ask for any better - Big thank you to the hotel!
Cons:
5.6 Okay
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant for both brekfast and dinner was excellent if a little expensive for the dinner.
Cons: No phones in the rooms. No room service. No shower caps in bathroom. It was a lovely hotel for a break but not for business use. I was hoping to recommend this hotel for business use but without the first 2 facilites above I am unable to do so.
4.8 Okay
Pros: Location. Staff made a real effort to be helpful.
Cons: No telephone in room. No explanation of use of 4 keys or how to lock room. Locked in the hotel when all staff went off for part of Sunday. The low service level does not reflect the high price. The operation seemed rahter amateur in terms of customer service.
7.2 Good
Pros: Altogether a very charming and unusual hotel. Very friendly staff and high attention to details.
Cons: The long walk from the Car Park - over 10mins walk with luggage. The cooked breakfast, although lovely, was a little small. And kept awake by talking on the first night until 2.30am and by another guest at 3am the next evening walking through and banging doors! Arghhhh!! But this did not put us off our stay, but think the price could be a little lower.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: location
Cons: The hotel was dirty, no air conditioning and expensive. The kettle was missing from the room and the curtains were held back with a safety pin which cut my finger!
New Forest Lodge - Salisbury - Building
9
9.1 Excellent (486 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at New Forest Lodge in Salisbury, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Peppa Pig World and Forest Falconry. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff was very friendly, the rooms were lovely and the location was ok - right next to a main road but we couldn't hear a thing and actually had nice views out of our window across the meadows. There's a great pub in walking distance were we had great food and fun with the locals.
Cons: Breakfast wasn't included in the booking price and for that, I found the cost a bit expensive.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful. Good size room and bathroom. Comfortable beds. Hair dryer provided in the room. Good location to explore the New Forest. Would definitely use again when visiting the area
Cons: The room got very hot in the night. To be fair we were given an air conditioning unit (without having to ask) to try and cool the room down, plus the weather was extremely hot. Under normal circumstances the room would have been perfect.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Dee and Sumida, the owners, were warm and very welcoming. They made us feel right at home. Rooms were big and we slept very comfortably. They've ensured that the hotel was updated yet kept some of its countryside charm. Breakfast provided was exceptional. My only regret was not being able to stay longer. Looking forward to staying there again the next time we visit New Forest.
Cons: Pricing was a little out of our intended budget (it was a spontaneous trip so we didnt do much research) but it was in the median pricing of all the stays in the area.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Rooms really clean and hosts were very helpful with local information. Excellent location for Peppa Pig world. Room had been kept cool despite 30 degrees plus outside!
Cons: Traffic was a little noisy through the night. Price was expensive over the Bank Holiday but guess expected.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really friendly and informative nothing was to much trouble, room was sparkling clean, breakfast was cooked to perfection.
Cons: The road out front was very busy but luckily couldn’t hear in the room with windows shut
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I was just looking for a place to stay in the area at short notice and this was the cheapest on offer. The manager was very friendly, the breakfast was good, and there was a decent Indian restaurant next door. The room was large with lots of power outlets in sensible locations.
Cons: I don't have anything negative to say about this hotel. It's in the middle of nowhere but you can tell that from the map, and it's on a main road but not noisy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, bath and shower with good pressure water. Good breakfast and caring staff.
Cons: Nothing to say.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was really nice
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We checked in pretty late in the night. The host couple were extremely helpful knowing that we had 2 kids with us. They helped us arrange to have our dinner while the kids slept, helped us with baby monitor. And the next day we were joined by friends and here too the hosts were there guiding us. The facilities and breakfast were good but its the hosts that took the cake. And thats what matters in the end. We were welcome and felt very comfortable. Thanks.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Extremely helpful and friendly staff Clean facilities Responded to requests promptly Good english breakfast Nice location within easy driving distance to most places Rooms were spacious Free on-site parking
Cons: Few spiders in the room needed to be removed as my wife is scared but I suppose this is inevitable given the New Forest location Ironing board was quite small and not user-friendly Rooms can get very hot but there are water cooling fans available that do help But the above points are only minor details and generally this was a great place to stay and good value for money
7.2 Good
Cons: No bad points
5.3 Okay
Pros: the hotel was clean and tidy reception quick and friendly ideal overnight stay indian restaurant on site and a good pub walking distance with very good food. on edge of the new forest so easy access pleasant stay

5.3 Okay
Pros: had a really good Indian restaurant right next door !. Room was also of a reasonably good size.
Cons: The busy main road runs right past the hotel so there was traffic noise late in to the night..This is not mentioned on the website when talking about the hotel location.

Pros: Natasha is a kind and attentive host. She even cared to call us the day of our arrival as we were running a bit late, based on the time we told her we would be there. She wanted to make sure everything was fine and we didn't get lost! I really appreciated that. We were able to get in the rooms before the stated check-in time and this was good as we had more time to enjoy the afternoon after leaving our luggage and getting ready. The b&b is lovely, just 10 minutes walk from the train station, in a quiet residential area. It was a pity we only staid one night. The rooms are spacious enough and very well decorated. The double bed was big and comfy. Everything looked really new and clean. I enjoyed also the complementary tea selection, candies and cookies! The rooms are quiet and we slept really well. The breakfast was one of the things we enjoyed the most. Lots of choices in the menu (you can choose one dish) plus a buffet of bread, jams, cereals, yogurts, fruits, juices etc. The portions were generous. I chose the pancakes which were delicious! I would definitely recommend this b&b. Everything was above my expectations, really great job Natasha!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Staff friendly . Food good, big portions, hand cut chips were really good.
Cons: Room 22, top floor , the water pressure was very low, shower not good. The room , bathroom were well appointed just the water pressure, probably due to it being an old building
7.9 Good
Pros: Very helpful staff, good breakfast, great location close to Market Square, large comfortable rooms. Carpets could do with a clean, parking arrangements not ideal.
Cons: My wife thought the carpets were grubby.
7.9 Good
Pros: We particularly liked the spacious and comfortable room and the breakfast choices were excellent and beautifully cooked.
Cons: Coffee at breakfast was the rather sludgey variety favoured, for some reason, by most accommodation providers. Also the options of decaffinated coffee and sweetners in the room would have been wecome.
8.0 Excellent

Cons: The shower was not very powerful

Pros: Good location, parking around the corner, need to book, great breakfast, nice staff. Good restaurant and music
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It is at a very convenient location, however, if you are booking the Family room for the weekend, please be aware that the live band is just below the room and the music is quite loud and the floor vibrates, Music ended at 11:30 pm. We decided to go downstairs to the pub and enjoyed the music, since we can't sleep anyways.
Cons: There is a flight of stairs to get to the room and the hotel is right onto of the pub.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The people running it were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a suite, which was lovely, and the bathroom was roomy and pleasant.
Cons: The bed wasn't too comfortable, but I understand that they're going to be changing the mattress. We also had trouble getting wifi on the third floor, but it was nice sitting in the dining room and working on our computer, so it wasn't a problem.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location and food
Cons: One staff member didn’t believe we didn’t have water coming from our shower as it was coming from the ceiling below
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff was really nice and the English and continental breakfast have been served.
Cons: Unfortunately, the bed was really uncomfortable and noisy. I also found a large dump/mould (more than 10cm x 10 cm) next to the bathroom under the washbasin which was really disgusting. There were also some visible stains on the carpet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about Qudos was spot on - the room, the staff and the breakfast.
Cons: Nothing really
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a beautifully charming space and the staff waited up for me to check in late.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location for visiting the cathedral & city via a short off road walk; elegant old building with well appointed rooms; great bar & garden by the river
Cons: The wine felt a little pricy at £10.50 for a large glass of Sauvignon blanc; the beer price was normal.
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff & the location were top notch. Just what we wanted for our walk into Salisbury via the town path & back.
Cons: Complete confusion over breakfast, when paying an extortionate amount for an overnight stay including breakfast, you do not expect to pay extra for a COOKED breakfast. The hotel room was generally poorly maintained, loose light fittings, loose window catches and the boiler broke down, so the whole hotel was without hot water.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and location
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good position overlooking the river. Old building. Comfortable facilities. Plenty of car parking.
Cons: Nothing obvious.

Cons: Didnt allow room menu to be booked in the bar?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room, restaurant, outdoor area and staff were fab! This is a truly picturesque venue with a lovely feel. Having stayed at other locations in Salisbury I can say with utmost certainty that this the best in terms of value for money and quality accommodation. The atmosphere was relaxing, the food was really good (I strongly recommend the lamb shank) and the staff were friendly and professional. Great location for those wishing to explore Salisbury.
Cons: The bathroom was a bit rundown. Strange smell and loose tiles.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Vert nice accomodation, lovely food, superb location
Cons: We could have done with a lttle more milk. There was only one pot of milk to last the day
7.5 Good
Pros: The grounds were beautiful.
Cons: Not very clean, over priced food and not specify that the cost for breakfast was only continental you pay more for cooked. Quality of evening meal was poor.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Location to town
Cons: Unfriendly staff except foe the first receptionist. No welcome at breakfast or explanation of the buffet style breakfast and no thank you when leaving. Bar and restaurant closed for the Saturday as holding wedding. Very limited lounge seating

Cons: Nothing
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The location is great! Beautiful building from the outside and great free parking! Staff were friendly
Cons: The room was smelly, old and damp! The bathroom had mould! The food in the restaurant was awful! I was supposedly upgraded from my original booking of a superior double, but I can’t believe the room I was given was an upgrade! Bring on the ground floor meant I was able to enjoy the smell of smokers enjoying cigs at night outside my room! The room smelt of wet dog!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Room, breakfast, location.... the guy working at the desk on the day of check out was exceptional. Great directions, clearly loves the area...
Cons: It was amazing. The staff I interacted with were on the whole fantastic. A few were much better than 1 or 2 others. Still really good, but a couple of staff were amazing!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good dinner, friendly staff, lots or parking and great location. It was an easy walk to the centre of town.
Cons: The snorer next door was a little loud but not really the hotel's fault.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Not much, view was nice.
Cons: The room was really run down, marks over the walls etc. The hallways clearly hadn't been hoovered in months. The first morning we had a terrible breakfast experience and were sat next to an entire bar of dirty glasses from the previous night, in a dirty room. Breakfast was refunded, but no apology was made and the manager on duty actually shrugged when I made my complaint.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, clean, big and comfortable.15 minutes walk to the cathedral and center. The Wi-Fi was the fastest that I used in England.
Cons: It needs a bath mat under the shower.
7.4 Good
Pros: Lovely setting Good sized rooms Friendly Staff
Cons: Some parts of the hotel looking a bit tired Breakfast not included in price
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Full buffet breakfast was excellent quality, great onsite parking, and location was perfect on the river with a short walk into town. They also upgraded our room for free with fantastic views of the river and Salisbury Cathedral.
Cons: Bed was saggy a little to soft for me
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff genorously supplied breakfast when we were late on the last day.
Cons: Bar service was a little overwhelmed during our function, though they battled through admirably.
7.9 Good
Pros: Short walk to the city center, with the possibility to walk next to the river and meadows. Large free parking area in front of the house.
Cons: We were upgraded to a deluxe room with a beautiful view of the cathedral, still we expected a little more for the money we payed. The walls were patchy, some of the towels pretty torn, the bathtub clogged.
Best Western Salisbury Red Lion Hotel - Salisbury - Building
3
8.1 Excellent (1,623 reviews)
Overview Reviews
This hidden treasure of Salisbury was originally a 13th century coaching inn that offered a warm welcome and convivial atmosphere. Our Vine Restaurant has a rosette to show for its deliciousness, while modern conference facilities have also been sympathetically incorporated to bring businesses the best! Ideally situated in the heart of the city of Salisbury, near its Cathedral, the hotel is a stone's throw from Stonehenge (two miles to be precise), so easy access is a given! Limited on-site parking. Six spaces on a first come first served basis, 15.00 GBP per day. Pre-book directly with hotel. Alternative chargeable parking available nearby, please contact hotel for further details. Enjoy your stay.
6.7 Good
Pros: The exterior of the building and the antique furnishings of the common areas were very charming. Also, this hotel is in a great location, just minutes to walk to the cathedral and to the main shopping areas. And a stop for the Stonehenge bus is right up the street.
Cons: Our room was on the ground floor, adjacent to the hotel's bar (which was a noise problem on Saturday night, but not the other nights we were there). In general, it was a comfortable room with a few exceptions. First, the floor was uneven; it felt like carpet and padding had been put down over an old stone floor. Second, we had trouble locating the heater (it was behind long drapes), and then figuring out how it worked. We finally discovered the buttons on one side. But when we wanted privacy (all the time, since we were on the ground floor right by the entranceway), the heavy drapes covered the heater and blocked the heat (and were a potential fire risk). We finally figured out how to close the drapes, and then hook the bottoms up out of the way. But it seemed a little ridiculous that they wouldn't have shorter drapes (the length of the window only; not down to the floor) that would allow for both air flow and privacy without the guests having to manipulate the drapes to get them out of the way. Finally, while the room was clean overall, there was some darkening of the grout in the shower stall and behind the sink, indicating that these areas were not cleaned well enough to prevent some mold from developing. And the shower drained extremely slowly, almost causing a flood a couple of times.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good quality hotel in central location. Staff very friendly
7.9 Good
Pros: Comfortable clean has “character “.
Cons: Shower over bath badly sited: too near the wall, could not be angled to cover your body and controls ineffective.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: 900 years of character.
Cons: noise from the club across the street
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The courtyard, the ivy, the little quirks
Cons: Some rooms get too hot in hot weather
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were great in particular Alwyn who was exceptionally helpful. We loved the cosy decor
Cons: More a la carte choice at breakfast (eg smoked haddock or kippers) - for £12.95 pp we expected more!
7.9 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. Staff were friendly and courtyard was pleasant.
Cons: The breakfast was poor. Most of containers for the cooked breakfast were empty. We had a room overlooking the Main Street. It was very loud when people were leaving the bar across the road.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, friendly wonderful staff and a beautiful courtyard.
7.5 Good
Pros: Liked the quirkiness of our room was very comfortable Nice little courtyard would of loved to of stayed and drank there but sadly the beer was far to expensive but really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back in the future
Cons: Good night the bar is a bit limited and very pricey Had a bit of a problem with the breakfast has they didnt have enough cooked food and was coming out a bit at a time which was a shame as what we did have was nice
2.0 Mediocre
Cons: The rooms were not as advertised - much poorer condition and far from adequate. The walls have no sound proofing you can hear the occupants of the next room having sex and you can hear the TV playing clearly in the other room. Bathroom was old and dirty and the view from the room was of a dirty rooftop of the other side of the building. Overall a dreadful experience.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic old-style hotel. Great location.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location - were there to meet old friends. Did not have any meals

5.7 Okay

Cons: Disco with loud music until midnight. Impossible to sleep as a result until it stopped. This does not always happen--I have stayed here before--but once is more than enough.

Pros: A good standard hotel in a very good location to explore city. value for money
