The resort has its own independent fresh water supply, treats gray water for reuse through a reed bed system, and has compost toilets on the beach. Low flush toilets and low flow shower heads have been installed to reduce water use. Fish and produce have been sourced locally to reduce food miles and products are purchased in bulk to reduce packaging waste. Jade Mountain also has strict recycling guidelines, and composts all of the hotel’s organic waste. Guests can also take part in regular activities to protect the environment, including reef cleaning and tree planting.
