We came to Carlisle Bay with high expectations. We took great care and much thought to choose Carlisle Bay. A large part of that decision was based on their website.I DEFINITELY made the right decision! Upon arrival, a bridge led us over a Koi pond surrounded by Bougainvilla and right into the Great House reception. The designers were successful at blending Caribbean soul with modern sleek. First impressions are everything & Carlisle Bay made a magnificent first impression. Warm welcoming reception. Think crisp White sheets, azure sea with Tropical , lush garden walkways. Perfection! You know it is a great resort when you cant decide to stay in the room, or go outside! We did stay long enough to play with the luxurious Cappuccino Machine! (Funny how special little things are exciting!) It was great to have that in our room. Fresh espresso or cappuccino as soon as you wake! Beach - Perfect. Kayaked on the smooth, clear rolling waters each morning. Sand that is meticulously groomed and ...
We absolutely loved Galley Bay and the beachfront rooms. Stayed for tens days and still did not want to leave. We thought the food was very good and fell in love with their signature Galley Bay special drink. Was perfect setting for honeymoon as we wanted quiet romantic setting. The bugs on the beach were very annoying. We used an entire bottle of bug spray! It was just gnats but I would think fogging the areas would help.
Room is clean and quite. Good internet to get business completed. Cost was very reasonable. 20 min drive from the job I was working on but well worth it for the nice room. Lots of stairs. Don' go here if you can't walk up and down the stairs
The location and grounds were beautiful. Close to the beach. The room was intimate. Bed was very comfortable. Nice view from the balcony. The facility needs updating and a good cleaning. Seat cushions in the lobby were dirty. Everything looked old and not well maintained. Food was awful. Some of the staff was helpful, but others were unenthusiastic and not very hospitable. The housekeeper did not replenish water bottles in our room. There is so much potential for this resort, just needs better management.
Beautiful hotel, rooms, facilities, views, and great, friendly staff. Not directly on the beach, but easy enough to get there.
Spent the weekend kiting there and everything accommodation related was great. Clean, spacious, well set up little cottage. The bad. Went to dinner one night, buffet was all that was offered which is a shame - usually the restaurant is excellent and actually worth the price. Not this time. The food was mediocre cafeteria quality at best, and the price was outrageous. 130 USD for two plates of rice, beans, and some chicken wings. No alcoholic drinks, no service, just the most expensive rice plate on the island. Is what it is. But I felt that the price of dinner buffet should have been mentioned before the meal and not been a surprise after.
Beach was great. Rip off prices. When we arrived we were 2 of only 6 guests. The locals call it a Zombie Hotel: it is always almost dead - very few guests even in peak season. It has a 1980s gym Box TVs from the 1980s. Very poorly maintained. Ideal if you want to get away from it all. If so, you should know there is NO shuttle bus to town, and each one way trip of 2km will cost you 15 USD.
