Great, cheap and located near the airport !
In expensive, clean room etc. Did not get a wake up call as requested and did not get a separate taxi booked as expected which meant I was nearly late for mt meeting.
Convenient for airport, comfortable and clean.
The hotel is located close to Stansted airport BUT... DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL or DeSalis. I have given fair (good) reviews to most of the hotels where I have stayed in the past. My reviews can be seen in Agoda, Booking, Kayak and I am a Platinum member with Marriott hotels. What did I not like about this hotel? I encountered the rudest and most disrespectful staff I've ever dealt with. As soon as I walked in the guy at the front desk yelled at my girlfriend and I for leaving the car parked (momentarily) in the only area available (we did this to confirm that we had a room before unloading our suitcases) If you're driving, bear in mind that the hotel has two decent parking spots, otherwise you'll end up leaving your car in the back of the building which seems dark and unsafe. The guy then said that he didn't see our reservation and sent us to a DIFFERENT HOTEL without even apologizing for the ordeal. The new hotel was called DeSalis and it was OK at first sight but we were given a nasty and old room in the back of the building. The room smelled like and old and humid warehouse. The bed was uncomfortable and you had to hold the shower with one hand as it wasn't attached to the wall. Further, we were told the restaurant closed at 11pm but we showed up at 10.35pm and they said that the kitchen was closed. Bear in mind that the closest restaurant is 15 minutes away from DeSalis. Outcome? We ate chips and drank cheap wine at 11.30pm in our nasty and uncomfortable room after driving 4 hours from Manchester. Overall, this was the worst experience I've ever had not with one but two hotels. I am sure other people have enjoyed their stays but I hope you guys keep in mind my comments if you want to avoid being THAT couple that doesn't their last night in such a lovely country! I want to leave on a good note so I will once again mention that both hotels are less than 8 minutes away from the aiport.
Excellent that it had parking included and a shuttle service in the early hours of the morning. Much less hassle than waiting for a taxi. The room was clean and was more than adequate for our overnight stay. The fact that self-service breakfast was waiting from 4am meant we could have a quick bite to eat before leaving for the airport at 5am. No real bad points. Some hooks and a towel rail in the en-suite bathroom would have been nice as there was no-where to hang a towel or night clothes. No shelves either for toiletries. A hair dryer in the room would have been an advantage, but not essential.
Setting of hotel, cleanliness, impressive entrance of hotel, has a smart chic style Shower curtains bit tacky and cheap looking compared to rest of hotel, slightly grubby
Proximity to Stansted Airport. Nothing. It's basically a comfortable room for a night.
Staff was very kind and helpful. The park in the back looked awful and needed care.
The staff were very nice. The hotel is very basic which is not a criticism just a fact and this is reflected in the budget price.
Staff were friendly airport transfer very good Was moved to a different hotel in teh same chain (De Salis) as the first hotel was not 'ready'.. This other hotel was difficult to find
it was close to the airport we have been charged for the shuttle, and nothing was advertise about it normally the shuttle comes free. on top of that the driver was late in the morning
early breakfast, transport to airport very prompt Even though on the main road, directions to hotel very limited
comfortable budget hotel ideal for business trips none
Free Wifi internet. Decor, room, and bathroom, Dining tables were too high to be comfortable. Road noise was mostly masked in my room, but not sure about other rooms.
Location and style of hotel - motel style. Service at breakfast good and friendly Smoky atmosphere - had to change rooms. Beds uncomfortable, only twin beds available. Not very comfortable at all
The staff were freindly and helpful with the exception of the room maid who let herself into the room in the morning without knocking and without apologising! Wasn't impressed - would not stay again. Will stick to Premier Inn in future.
Convenient location for us at the time At dinner, poor selection of desserts - but quality of what was available was ok
Cold, run down and over all not anything other than a place to (try) sleep.breakfast was good room was not very clean, beds were uncomfortable, quite run down
Food was excellent Staff were very friendly. There was a very good Bus service to City center and also to Airport. Our bed was too small 4 foot.
The staff were attentive and friendly. The room was not too hot or cold and it was quiet.
Relaxing and comfortable after a long journey The heating system and how to use it in your room!
The staff, in particular Brian the night porter who went the 'Extra Mile' in terms of service, help and courtesy
breakfast and hospitality of the personnel, roof-top windows
Beautiful home, warm, friendly welcome. The availabilty of an evening meal on our arrival was a great help. Comfortable beds . Very nice stay.
Very friendly atmosphere. Perfect breakfast. Very convenient location.
very friendly ,typical english guest house, not hotel. no.
amicable hosts, very accommodating, feel like you're at home. sweet pet cats in the garden. room was very comfortable. lots of different interesting art.
Nice house, exceptionally welcoming and helpful owners, comfortable bed, good value. Nothing
elegant, very confortable, very kind owners, good breakfast, very easy to reach
Close to Stansted and nearby Cambridge, it's perfect for those who are flying to or from London but who prefer to escape London's busy atmosphere. The couple who runs it are nice and although I would have preferred a bigger English breakfast, they did offer more toast and cereals to fill you up. the pack breakfast they made us on our last day was a bit stingy and we would have liked to have the check in a bit earlier than 3pm.
Peter and Paulette were great.
The hotel's position close to the airport terminal. The comfortable room. One of the eating places ('Paella' or the like) was advertised in the room and in the lifts, but was closed "for the season".
the location as it serves the airport very well. The rooms are comfortable and the staff very helpful. The cost of drinks and meals. I with many others leave the hotel and eat and socialise in the airport. If the food and drink bill was less then people would be more likely to stay and eat on the premises. I even know people who avoid the hotel because of the cost
Friendly staff, clean room, just next to terminal building (2 min walk), quick check-in and check-out.
Easy access to terminal
Proximity to airport was very useful and check out as well as car collection service were both good The carpet in room and corridor were not as clean as they could have been. Check-in was very slow!
The hotel is new and very clean and has all the necessary facilities for a pleasant stay. There was no family room and so I had to take two rooms with a connecting door for a family of four.
The fact that it was so close to the airport and very confortable. The bar prices were ridiculous, a small glass of wine £6.00, come on!! people just eat and drink else where. The food was also quite poor.
Easy access to the airport... Price.
easy for airport long black head hair in bath
Spacious room and comfortable bed. Walking distance from the airport.
Loved that there was an acrobat performing several times throughout the evening! Fantastic rooms and excellent service! Restaurant prices were a bit high, also it would have been even more wonderful if he acrobat's performance times were posted somewhere so I could have timed my evening drinks in the bar accordingly. All around great experience though!
Nice Indian food. New-painted. Close to airport. Big room and bathroom. Not long waiting for pick-up in the airport. The waiter seemed impatient when we asked for some advice for food and drink - and we got the wrong menucard - we could not choose from all menues. Nothing to read. Not many TV-stations. No possibility for pastime/shopping. Transfer to airport not free (and when I phoned from the airport, the lady was impatient because it was difficult to understand her in the telephone). Early breakfast very boring - only one sort of marmelade and toast. Too much noice from the area outside the door when people pass.
my room was really big and comfortable the shuttle price is GBP 3,50 so each time you want to leave the hotel you have to use the shuttle as it is a bit far from the airport and any town,in 2 days i spent GBP 14,00 on the shuttle.a bit too expensive
the driving to the airport was very nice offer.even if the plains were neare, one could not hear them so much.
Location, easy accsess to rooms, transport to stanstead airport mould in the kettle, driver not coming to work to pick us from the airport, had to take taxi, beds uncomfortable,tv channels poor,tv too small
Rooms were large and clean and the staff was great. On site restaruant served a variety of good food.
The staff were freindly and polite.
We stayed as a party of 10 in 4 rooms, cochroaches were found in 2 of the rooms and the hotel smelt and the rooms were dirty. I would not recommend this hotel
standard of rooms, food, car parking and airport transfer. no.
Carpet in room slightly dirty however the carpet was White so a few marks to be expected
quiet location, comfortable room, friendly helpful staff the room was not clean. Rubbish from former inhabitant, stains, dust. (room 23)
Convenience Couldn't find a vending machine
No food drink or room service available 2-6 p.m at weekends. We wanted afternoon tea!
bedrooms staff at breakfast were to busy speaking about their evening out and not paying enough attention to guests.
Excellent room, fantastic food and friendly staff n/a
Room was very comfortable and clean Staff although helpful were not well informed on local attractions/ services
beautiful large room. The shower head in our room would not stay in place so we had to wedge the shower lead round the taps. It made having a shower a challenge! The chairs in the room were somewhat hard so an armchair in the room would have been the icing on the cake.
Location to City Centre Bath water not hot enough
size of bed cooked breakfast staff Bar area
Good sized clean bathroom
Efficient service Not really but no bath plug in my room and people smoking outside my window so couldn't open as it was ground floor. Bathroom grouting needs attention in the room I stayed in.
the pick up service from the airport was exellent and v nice owners the hotel was in a pleasant leafy area and the room was comfortable with tv and very hot water and kettle etc. the downside was the terrible aircraft noise & no double glazing - planes every hour all night long and every 15 minutes from 6 am& a very hard bed indeed - rock hard.A strange breakfast affair with all manner of sweet goods still in packets and wrappers in a breakfast room with self service and kettle and crockery
Near the Airport Had to pay for the shuttle bus to and from the airport, should be free service. Rooms not as nice as other Hilton hotels.
no Sky Sports in room, infrequent transfers
The gym, the bar
Rooms - too small Breakfast - too expensive for the quality
The staff was amazing! Very accomidating to our every need!
Good bed and linnen was probably the best feature of the hotel. The hotel is in need of deep renovation. Especially the bathroom was in a bad condition and only 2 star.
The courteous, efficient, competent staff-- "service- oriented," how refreshing!! Very professional staff. Not a thing! Look forward to my next visit. Best place to stay for London Stansted!
very comfortable bed
Checked in 2a.m. left 6a.m Very disappointed to get a room with two twin beds. To late in the night to argue. Price for the room was very hig versus accomidation.
We only stayed for one night. Left early in the morning! The bed was ok!
Very friendly staff. Comfortable and clean room. Good price. Convenient for Stansted Airport.
It was a freindly and clean hotel. Location was perfect for us, as we were going to a birthday party nearby
the rooms werent great but did for a 1 night stay for work purposes and considering the price they were ok ,van was safe outside so all in all ok
Food good Dreary, motel like feel. In need of major refurb which they are planning
The staff were all very good and very helpful. The rooms could do with updating.
Restaurant and leisure club excelent TV system was not working. Motel style is offvputting especially in poor weather
The staff were accommodating and the food was good The bedrooms are in need of refurbishment, they are very tired especially the bed, I could feel the springs.
The rooms are in need of an overhaul - the bathroom needed a good clean.
Good value for money dinner menu difficulty mastering the room heating controls
pleasantness and friendliness of all staff. Good food well presented Rooms were a little on the dark side
Everything worked, comfy bed, clean Felt old fashioned even though recently redecorated
Very nice hotel for some one stay overnight in Stansted Airport area and want to have a sniff of the English Landlord era.A walk through the hotel and garden is already relaxing before having a drink in the comfortable bar. Helpfull staff . Taxi from Stansted 21 gbp
Comfortable room and dinner was good There is no lift to the 2nd floor (or certainly not that I was told about or directed to); the stair carpet between floors 1 and 2 is v worn; it was rather warm/stuffy in corridors; there is no quick route to car park, guests must walk out of the front and round the Hall to the back for the car park.
Very professional, courteous staff, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable, room service was very good. Wonderful location. There was no lift to our room - but on a positive note the staff were happy to carry our bags up and down the stairs.
We liked the history of the hotel and the extreme confort of the hotel, it was a wonderful break feeling like we were in our own bubble for the weekend. We thought the wedding exhibition on in the morning made things a little hectic and the wedding guests in the restuarant also detracted from our relaxed morning.
The very relaxed atmosphere and the good service Bar prices are over priced even by central London standards where I live
Good location for Stansted and still quiet at night.
Grounds and building are beautiful, very peaceful. The perfect weekend retreat. Some of the furnishings looked a little worn
The staff is very friendly, the food and accomodation is excellent and the surroundings are beautiful.
Too far away from anything
The bed in the room was of a very high class. It enabled us to sleep soundly for a refreshing start to the following day. Downs Hall is a period hotel with some astounding features. Visitors still require modern bathroom/shower facilities in their rooms. Downs Hall was lacking in this department.
I was staying at the Hunters Meet for a friends wedding as the reception was held at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. We had a small problem with our room on check in but it was sorted out right away with no bother and the room was well presented and clean. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
The Hunters Meet Hotel offered friendly and welcoming staff with good facilities. The four poster room we had was large and well equipped, and the pool area was relaxing.
I really liked the very friendly welcome and customer service. It was a cut above what would normally be expected.
The food was excellent, the staff were very helpul and friendly and the room was very confortable. Loved the pool and gym and overall a very enjoyable stay and will definately be back at some point. Nothing
I thought the staff was really excellent and tried to do everything they could to make my stay comfterable
Very kind staffs Some parts of the room were not cleaned properly. Shower wasn't working properly. Breakfast served so slowly, and even the food was so poor.
A Friend of mine recomended this hotel to me, And It was everything I wanted! Really friendly & Helpful, With a superb Gym & swimming Pool. And They even managed to fit me in for a sports massage after hours. This Is my Number 1 choice for the area! Fantastic Hotel!
The friendly staff and the location.
Fantastic Hotel! Brilliant Food, Superb Friendly Staff, Everything was perfect from the moment I arrived, with a warm welcome, My room was Excellent, And right next to a Beautiful Lesiure centre. This is deffinatley My first choice! Great Value for money! Having To Leave :(
I've never been served such a large Full English Breakfast in my life and it tasted great. Rooms need a little tlc and can be a little noisy.
None No reception area and bar maid not aware of booking in procedures, stayed in room 1 noise of traffic and public bar, heard every hand drier in bar toilets operate. Room 5 was occupied by resident manager so we were awake 5am each morning. The water and drainage pipes from room 5 run directly above the bed in room 1. Floor boards creeking and heard his telephone conversations. Cleanliness of bathroom poor, no replacement toilet roll so had to obtain one from the bar toilets. Had a meal in the first evening in the bar food not hot and price of beer is expensive.
It was well situated for the event I attended and the room was comfortable. No shampoo or conditioner in bathroom. Poor quality soap. Very few channels on TV.
The length of the pool and its shape was conducive to a proper swim session, always a bonus at a spa, its not all about lounging at one end talking to other people thats what the Jacuzzi is for. The service in the restaurant for evening meal was slow, a wait of an hour between the starter and the main course. The food when it turned up was distinctly average considering the price was quite expensive.
Rooms very comfortable and clean.
Food and service was good in the restaurant The room internet service did not work and it took until the morning for the staff to reset the system after I had queeried why it was not working at 18.00 the day before
The hotel appeared to be lovely. Terrible staff, nobody refilling the breakfast bar or serving. Bolshy staff when something was not right. This unfortunately was a typical rather rubbish English hotel. When you drive up you cannot even find the front door! It turned out to be 3 doors around to the right!
Staff went out of their way to help us. Bit of a walk (in the cold) to eatery, but then again, an experience in itself.
Nothing Poor state of repair, Buffet B/Fast was crawling with Bugs !!
Clean, near to stansted airport, flexitime of breakfast and check-in No phone into the rooms
Very pretty guest house near the airport. (with the car 10 minutes), Very clean. Nice receptionist, very kind and helpful. The breakfast room is ready in the morning so you can help yourself with what you wish to eat. Room and bathroom big size. I'll go again. Paola
Hotel's internet wasnt working so they went to the extent of lending me their usb internet stick which was greatly appreciated
staff and room were excellent - very friendly and clean place. i was unable to sleep due to noises from other guests, using their bathrooms and my room was close to front door, which slammed all night. I guess if people don't have to catch an early flight and can stay out late, its a great place to stay.
Very close to airport,
Comfortable bed, pleasant staff, breakfast available from 3.30 am, close to Stansted Airport, free wi-fi available. Taxi driver from Stansted Airport knew where to find it easily although I read in reviews on the website that it was hard to find. Shower and basin were blocked up but we were able to have a shower in another room. We arrived about 9 pm and rang the front door bell but no- one came. We rang it another two times and then someone came and said the door is unlocked you are supposed to just walk in. But there should be a sign to say that. Room was quite small and bathroom really tiny.
very helpful manager, lovely breakfast, great value for money
Friendly welcome and the rich serve-your-self breakfast
Very comfortable, wonderful landlady, will certainly use again.
The staff were very welcoming. very clean and beautiful scenery. Felt very relaxed.
The attention to detail was impeccable. A lot of thought had gone into providing the "little things" that make a big difference.
very comfortable, owners friendly and helpful. Family of 5 able to fit in one room which is very rare. Excellent idea for self service buffet breakfast especially when you have early flight. No except hard to find in the dark.
Cleanliness and location Cold water supply seemed to be supplied by outdoor tank, the temprature being subject to whatever the weather at the time, as it was 30c the nice cool shower I was looking forward to after a very hot day was a little disapointing.
The use of a private room for the 70th birthday dinner we attended. Excellent facilities at the indoor pool, and the offer from reception staff to open at 7 am. Pleasant friendly atmosphere from staff. We had an executive room with sitting room at £135 - good value, bu would have been content with a bedroom only at a lesser cost had we been able to book earlier - our problem. Hope to return Oct. It would have been nicer at breakfast to have had pineapple juice as one of the juices, also more choice of fresh/tinned fruit, individual bowls rather than one mixed bowl. Nevertheless I enjoyed my Continental breakfast
Nice setting, quite Restaurant quite formal, fussy menu
The hotel overall was really good and I thought the housekeeping team did a wonderful job. The room was a good size, as was the bathroom. I particularly loved the open fires in the lounge areas. ~There was not really enough wardrobe space.
The function attended on Sat 27th November was well organised Our room was too cold and reception staff/mangement were not very helpful or understanding of the situation. It was a very cold period and no account of this was taken into account - almost an attitude that nothing could be done!!
I am always extremely fair when writing reviews as I realise these can strongly affect a business. I have to say that the approach to the Hotel and the building itself is lovely and the room was very clean. The grounds are well kept and on first impression we were delighted with the Hotel. There were 7 of us (4 rooms) staying at the Hotel as we were attending a function in the evening locally. We arranged to meet up in the afternoon in the bar for a snack although we were only allowed to sit in a small unnatractive private lounge with no character, more like a waiting room, as there was a Wedding Reception about to arrive. We came back down to the bar before we went out for the evening although again were not allowed in the bar. We had a loveley evening and returned to the Hotel about 11.45pm, there were no other guests to be seen. We had to find the 1 member of staff on duty to get a drink and sit in a corridor. Breakfast was awful and staff did not seem particularly interested in us at all.
Room, easy wi-fi, good food, good location
Perfect place, facilities are fantastic, staff is helpful, and allow you to use the swimming pool even out of the planned hours, good experience Gym was a bit small and always full, however, fantastic place for jogging around the hotel!
comfortable bed, good location poor quality TV
Comfort and quality was very good
Clean, comfortable, staff helpful. Intermittent loud noise (? fridge; aircon? )about hourly which woke us up.
Everything from start to finish was excellent No bad points room was great clean and beyond our expectations thanks very much for the great service you provided us
Cleanliness, renovated rooms Far from public transport
close to the Airport (10min), free parking, cheap, clean & quiet but basic room, fast food & shops next to the hotel.
Excellent value for money. Very very quiet. Friendly staff.
the bed was lumpy with springs coming through and uncomfertable
Cleanliness of the room
Cleanliness and comfort, Staff attitude. None to speak of
The room was perfect for my overnight stay and early morning flight. The foodcourt next door was very very handy. The bus service was fab and the bus driver was lovely.
Good speedy check in, room small but clean and tidy, plenty of tv channels, a good tea and coffee tray provided, close to the airport its quite noisy with lorries etcI am not a fan of eating at the services!
The proximity to Stansted Airport - perfect for my frequent trips between Europe and the UK
Nice clean comfortable hotel. Road noise from a12, and not likely to stay again because of road noise.
Room was clean, beds comfortable and bathroom shower good. Nice to have tea and coffee available in the room. Pub opposite does a reasonable breakfast. Despite multiple adverts for £29 per night this was impossible to find and the two nights we stayed were charged at different rates, the Bank Holiday night being the cheaper of the two!! There was no explanation of differing rates charged. If you only drink tea or coffee (not both) there were only enough teabags / coffee sachets for one drink each, meaning you could not have one before bed and one in the morning - picky but a small change here could make a difference. a couple of extra milk pods are also needed.
Lovely staff, excellent room, lovely chef and brewer pub to eat in. None
Only one bath towel in a double room. Cooked breakfast was not particularly appetizing.
Good location next to pub. Good cooked breakfast. Bath narrow and slipped in the shower.
Friendliness of staff The price is too high for a weekend stay.
room was clean at a glance but generally grubby
the rooms, and the bed! the price, and the way of getting there!
Clean, tidy, friendly staff, good service.
staff very helpful. within 10 minutes of arriving we were asked if everything was to our liking
Clean room and bathroom, nice bed, nice service
Very nice ambiente No outlet in bathroom
Really lovely hotel, very modern and the rooms were gorgeous.
lovely food, dining room, bathroom and bedroom apart from air-conditioning making our throats dry Women would not like shower head striaght over their head, so would need a separate hose. Slippery bath, had to hold towel rail for support to get out of bath to the floor. Menu should read EACH for vegetable sides.
Booking Breakfast too slow. I need to be away by 07.20 and having chaecked out before breakfast I waited about 30 mins. Would put me off staying again.
Very modern, clean and tidy hotel with comfortable facilities. Security to get into rooms was excellent. None
Very comfortable and clean room. Excellent evening meal and breakfast with good service.
The friendliness of the staff, the location and overall level of comfort/food which made my stay extremely enjoyable.
Room lovely - food fantastic - staff brilliant - service exceptional -superb breakfast. This hotel really has got it all. Loved everything. Can't wait to book again. Everything was superb - no down side
It was a special occasion so it was a little pricier than we'd normally use but you could definitely tell the difference and it was worth it - very comfortable and beautifully furnished. All staff were very pleasant and efficient. Breakfasts were top! We were prepared for the restaurant to be very expensive but it was only in the gastropub range which was a relief! Grub was lovely.
