Getting a car rental at Sydney Airport saves you time and the hassle of traveling to downtown locations with your luggage in search of a rental car. It’s much cheaper when you compare the cumulative costs of hiring a taxi to various destinations in and out of Sydney.
  • Getting a car rental at Sydney Airport is generally easy. You can pre-book or initiate the rental process after arriving. Different car rental agencies have desks at the Arrivals Level of both Terminals. Walk straight to your preferred provider with the right documents. After presenting the required documents and signing the rental agreement, you’ll be handed the keys and guided or escorted to the pickup location on the ground level of the multi-story car park at P7, a short walk from the Terminal building. For domestic pickups, you can take the free car rental shuttle service outside Terminals T2 and T3 to the pickup locations at Ross Smith Avenue in the South East sector. Confirm if the vehicle is in the perfect technical state before starting your trip.
  • Returning a car rental at Sydney Airport is super easy. Most companies indicate the drop-off location in your rental agreement. Once your rental period ends, you can drive to the airport and park the vehicle at the agreed drop-off point. Avis, Budget, Thrifty, and Hertz offer an easy drop-off service at Sydney Airport, with drop-off locations in the South-East Sector, easily accessible from the terminals. If you’re returning a rental vehicle from Sydney South or Sydney CBD, follow the directions to Ross Smith Avenue, where you’ll see signs to the drop-off locations of major providers at the airport. Some providers have a drop-off location at 7 Coleman Street, Mascot. There is a free car rental shuttle service from the drop-off locations to Terminals T2 and T3.
  • Most tourists flock to Sydney during the summer between December and February. Sydney Airport is usually busy during this period. Picking up or dropping off a rental car can be challenging because of the long queues at the car rental section. The airport also gets busy during weekends and holidays. Long queues at the car rental section are common during popular festivals like Mardi Gras, Sydney Harbour Regatta, and the Australian Open of Surfing.

They canceled the reservation the day of the rental because there were no cars available. More advance notice should have been given. Fortunately the Avis down the street was able to accommodate us as well as several others who experienced the same thing.
