The hosts certainly hit the right notes for their visitors. The perfect retreat. The beautiful Barrossa wine valley is on your doorstep, as well as plenty of other places to visit.
Cons: Nothing to dislike here at this property. The relaxing outlook while sitting on your balcony, as well as the use of the spa, also a barbecue, perfect for cooking the breakfast on.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well appointed and centrally located for a Barossa visit.
7.9 Good
Pros: It was quiet and the hosts were very welcoming. Excellent breakfast provisions and coffee making facilities.
Cons: The bed in the main room was very firm. The lounge is old and needs replacing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every little thing was provided including a bottle of local wine
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was very quiet, people were extremely nice and welcoming, facilities were very good for 2 people and there was ample provisions for breakfast. Also in a very good location for the Barossa wine tasting
Cons: Air conditioner only really cooled the lounge room - would be better in the bedroom Minor maintenance was needed - wardrobe drawers, kitchen extractor fan and the front screen door wouldn’t close properly The kitchen was ok for people who just want to whip up a quick meal here and there but would have been ill equipped for more than two persons or anyone who really wanted to self cater. A few larger pots and cooking utensils would help.
Blickinstal Barossa Valley Retreat - Tanunda - Building

8.6 Excellent (357 reviews)
Overview Reviews

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: I liked it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a truly stunning place, the views and the room was just amazing. I only wished I had booked it for more nights.
6.7 Good
Cons: Saw no staff in three days. Animals on property had no food or water except for what I filled up. Won't be back.
7.9 Good
Pros: We had the complex to ourselves, nice and quiet. The views amazing. Birds were good company over breakfast.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable, clean, and spacious room with everything provided. Nice little kitchen, well equipped, with even a portable induction cook top and pots, though dinner out and a ballet performance were preferable to anything I could have prepared myself. The breakfast is pretty standard in-room packaged light bread slices and jams, but I appreciated the fresh orange juice and fresh milk (not UHT rubbish) and ample stocks of Moccona coffee to start the day off. Afterward, I'd recommend breakfast/brunch at the Red Door Espresso in Murray Street, Tanunda - avocado, egg, and prosciutto on toast gets 5/5 stars from me.
Cons: Everything is good. The site is very pleasant, lovely views, and some landscape planting and mulching that is being done is improving the gardens. However, a quick delivery of gravel for the driveway and car park would help reduce the mud underfoot. It was hard with the recent rains to avoid tracking mud into the room and the car. This is only a small issue.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was basic but OK. The setting was lovely. Birdlife was great. Fire was good.
Cons: Being met by someone who could not speak English was quite a problem. We nearly turned away but just followed this guy to our cabin. Instructions - no idea what he was talking about.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent and rooms very clean
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location. Beautiful outlook and surrounds. Very comfortable bed. Lovely fire for cold winter night.
Cons: There is potential for this property to be 5 star however small things need to be addressed. The bbq had not been cleaned (and it was unsuitable for cooking a premium cut of meat), the breakfast supplied was rather basic and could easily be improved. The spa bath did not work. It was nice to find the lights on in the apartment but on a cold winter's night why not ensure the room is heated?
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Property is well located in a quiet rural location close to many wineries. It had everything we needed.
Cons: The air conditioning could have been warmer as the weather was quite cold.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very cosy, gorgeous location, spa was a nice touch , excellent for a romantic getaway

Pros: the grounds and exterior of the property were amazing. there was lots of birds and it was lovely and quiet.
Cons: the fit out was tired and out dated. the mini bar was poor with no red or white wine available. it was very cold. there was no one there to greet us and in fact the only person we actually saw was the chef at breakfast.

10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Two beds nice surprise meant I could kick my husband over to extra bed yay for me
Cons: I didn’t like that there were no biscuits for our cup of tea my only complaint
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: There is nothing to like about this place except the location. Should be closed.
Cons: We were in the Merlot house. A house transported from the 60s suburbs to the Barossa. Not a single renovation since. Awful and freezing cold. I simply don’t understand a single positive review. Breakfast was also a joke. Supermarket bread (for the toaster cause it wasn’t fresh) and factory cereal. 100% terrible. Oh I forgot, the restaurant was closed for dinner without notice!!!
7.9 Good
Pros: Lovely location
Cons: Basic room and ammenities
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Reataurant staff were very accommodating. They supported me and my daughter and provided extra activities to keep my daughter busy while I had my cup of tea
Cons: My aircon was not working properly. One night I failed to get it to work and slept in a cold room. The breakfast buffet could do with more choices like egg, bacon etc
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is in vinyard.Beautiful garden.Stuffs and manager are very good.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The restaurant food was excellent, the chef did little tasters between courses. A very nice touch to the dinner and evening.
Cons: The room was from the ark ages, neat and appeared to be clean. Unfortunately the bathroom, shower and toilet was disgusting. The whole bathroom had stains and rust throughout, the toilet needs replacing due to stained bowl, bathroom looked like it still had the 1970’s tiles. The room at $150 was well overpriced, due to the conditions I would rate this a 2 star, $60 a night motel.
7.1 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed
Cons: No toaster on knives forks and spoons
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room, beautiful view from the balcony, nice restaurant, close to where I needed to be
