The breakfasts were very good/coffee always available/loved the waffles at teatime were tasty and your light suppers pretty good! All in all a very pleasant experience!!
Perfect spot, very friendly and helpful staff. Good food (free meal!) and excellent breakfast. Nice, quiet and clean room.
Very good breakfast. Beautiful view of the harbor. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom. Helpful staff.
Parking was a problem! This hotel should allow guests to reserve a parking space in advance.
The location on the waterside is perfect. We had a superior room facing the marina with a view of the Arctic Cathedral. The room was spotless and the bathroom wonderfully functional. It was just five minutes along the quay to Polaria; two minutes to the old Cathedral, and close to a wonderful Wine Bar and Deli (Helmerssons) and coffee bar, Riso. Kiwi up the street. Tromso has its own life apart from tourists and the Hurtigruten, and this hotel (less "fancy" than its Clarion partners), seems also less pretentious and more part of that real life. An illusion, I expect, but hey! holidays are all about illusion. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bonus was a quite decent free supper served from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (I had homemade soup, good fish salad, and nice Norwegian crisp bread, but you could have eaten a lot more substantial stuff if you were up for fish burgers and turkey legs). The free breakfast was even better than the supper: a massive and fresh tasting spread of yogurt, cereal, fruit, eggs, porridge, bread and jam, cheese, meat: the whole smorgasbord.
The parking isn't clearly explained. One night we had no car (good! we took a taxi from the airport) but when we came back from a couple of gorgeous weeks in Lofoten we did have a rent car, and there's nowhere to park. We went up to an underground parking garage that must have been the headquarters of the Resistance during the War, and paid 263 kroner for almost a day. Recommended; you do not need a car in Tromso.
Beautiful views across the harbour. Spacious room.
Entrance to reception was confusing walking into the restaurant.
A stay at Clarion Collection Hotel With places you in the heart of Tromso, steps from Tromso Catholic Church Var Frue Kirke and 4 minutes by foot from Art Museum of Northern Norway. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
