Staff were good and very helpful. Location was good as between the city centre and the other areas of Durban. Nice veiws of the river and beach and so peaceful as not overlooked
nothing special, just went for the world cup hard to find plugs in the room
Quiet and the staff were very helpful By phone the cost of the room was R1080.00 However, I booked on line and was charged R1820.00 Why is that??
The Hops bar was friendly and reasonably priced. The pool area was in the shade all day. Also the water went off for almost 24 hours.
Location to Durban central but not in the centre. Quiet and comfortable The power went off for 12 hours and they did not have a standby generator. It was very hot and corridors were pitch black with no lighting.
The only hiccup was the lost room service food order for my 4 year old daughter, which took more than an hour to rectify.
The views. The lift on the 2nd floor did not arrive when pushing the "down" button. After 5 minutes in the heat of the foyer, we decided to push the "up" button and it arrived in seconds. This happened every time so there is a problem. Also, the area by the lifts is extremely hot - you need a fan or aircon here. I would not swim in the pool as it looks so dirty.
Rooms are a nice size, and the microwave was a bonus.Breakfasts were great! Good value and decent selection The bathroom needs an update, toilet seat was marked and the shower seals had black marks on them. The mattress springs were a bit flat.
Excellent value for money and outstanding cleanliness all over. Hotel parking was a dissapointment without cover.
The cleaners were very friendly all the renovations because my clothes were damaged bt the paint, so our stay was unpleasent
The room was specious and had sea views. nothing
We loved the informall but extremely helpfull service from staff who were the best we have come across in a long time A credit to the hotel. Nothing
Staff were very helpful. Taxi driver associated with the hotel was excellent This room was classified as 'Disabled'. We were on the 8th floor. Neither of the 2 lifts were working when we returned at night so we had to climb 8 floors. Luckily at age 59, I can still climb 8 floors but many would not be able to do this. I would not return to the hotel for this reason.
The room was clean and the staff was very friendly The lift needs some upgrading
Room cleanliness, room set up, good staff - very helpful Not bad, but the fact that you are stil renovating (dust) Eating area (would prefere buffet)
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpfull Nothing about the Hotel - just a few arrogant guests at breakfast
A very enjoyable stay, the family loved it. Super breakfast buffet, friendly staff. Aircons not working well
The layout of the room , it was very spacious. Bathroom was a bit cramped .
Nice clean rooms, with excellent service for both breakfast & dinner. The bar often ran out of beer
Everything was well during my stay at your hotel. Your breakfast:- you must add varieties, you saved us with the same breakfast as the first day we came there. Your sausages were not tasteful at all in such a way that we couldn't eat them.
It was well placed for Centrl Durban
Safe, relatively easy access to the places in town that I needed to get to. Reasonably clean. Extremely expensive for what it was. Due to the Lions being in town but the room photos online belie how budget this hotel is. If it hadn't been the only one available I doubt I would have stayed here in the first place.
The breafast. Poor housekeeping, not enough security since the parking is a bit far from the hotel entrance.
Efficient servicing and cleaning of room. Very good breakfast. The room was excellent for comfort. There is only one bar which is also a public bar onto the main street. There should be a more private hotel bar where people cannot come in off the street.
Breakfast No room or bar service
n/a Parking garage excess should be available at for 24 hours. Got Back to the hotel at 2 in the morning left car parked outside the Hotel and picked up a traffic fine. Was not aware parking facilities were available ata certain time only
Not the best hotel I've ever been in . This experience was more like a roadside motel. Had to ask for things, Bathroom very crammy. Tv didnt work on few stations. Had to ask for condiments e.g. miilk, sugar for tea & coffe in room. We were 3 people, only got 2 milk each time-just enough for 1 person/cup. Had to ask for toilet paper etc...
The staff were very helpful and courteous and the room was clean and comfortable. The only point of concern was having to park in the parkade down the one way street. The street beyond the hotel was dirty and one did not feel safe when returning to the hotel late at night. There was also the smell of urine outside one of the night clubs.
Calm and reassuring in a busy city. Good value with online booking (as a retired academic I would not normally afford a Hilton)
Nothing. The rooms are dated. The services are expensive and the location is absolutely terrible.
Convenience for what I required. The lack of facilities and service for a hotel of this international category.
Very friendly staff....nice atmosphere Not really anything
Convenience to wedding venue at Exhibition centre
The comfort away from home and tranquility of the environment. The view of both the city and the beach.
It was value for money and comfortable.
Hotel rates where excellent given its grading. The location of the hotel was very convenient as it is close to the beach front, yet not exposed to heavy traffic associated with the latter. Parking space not user-friendly for bigger sedan cars
Superb service, fit for a 'king'. Location is ideal and central, secure.
Relatively good service at the Hilton, front desk was just amazing, with check in and making sure all is in order. A place to stay with a family for leisure as well as business as I've always been here only for meetings and meals before. The location, reception area, pool, gym facilities and restaurants were good, the service were pleasant and the staff friendly. Rooms needs a bit of attention to detail and carpets. Breakfast was a combination of luxury and variety.

There was a problem with the booking. They did not have the correct information and there was a long delay at reception.
Good price, value for money,'free' extras like wi-fi etc
You really feel like you are in Africa staying here, they have decorated the place superbly with lots of cultural artefacts. The owners are very warm and welcoming with excellent knowledge of the area and great recommendations of what to see and do. Great value for money! Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
We like very much staying there.
Service.I was paid special attention to.the place is beautiful and clean NO
perfect place for being in Durban, beautiful guest house and more than this 7 stars for hospitality. all is designed to make you feel at home and owners are lovely, friendly and all the time useful
owner was very friendly ocean view very limited you see more trees and people back yard not like as advertised beautiful indian ocean view. i dont rate this g/house as 4 star
Dave & Pam were wonderful hosts and the service was frist class, we will be staying there again No complaints, all good
The personal attention and friendlyness of Pam and Dave. They really carred for their guests. (Regrettable I did not read any guest reviews)
Very warm enviroment and good hospitality from the owners
I travel globally on busines usually staying in hotels however on this occasion I decided to try a B&B, I cannot recommend the Africa Regent highly enough, a warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble, a superb B&B close to the city centre in a safe area. Transport to and from the airport was arranged by the owners and ensured my stay was free from hassle. They even offered to wash my clothes when my travel plans changed and I needed to extend my stay. I will certainly be using this establishment in the future. Dave Spence
the position and facilities were fantastic as well as the breakfasts service a little slow at times
Service & Friendliness of Staff plus the location was superb
Beautifully redecorated, the public areas are lovely and accomodating. A lot of the old bits have been retained and it has the lovely old world feel. Very pleasant. Not really anything not to like
The location "on the beach" is superb. Breakfast on the verandah overlooking the waves - what a great way to start the day !!! The room was extremely comfortable and the balcony an additional plus. On the negative side the cost of meals was very high (the curry buffet at R190 p.p. did not give as good a value for money as other nearby eateries) See above.
The service was great and the people was friendly. Relaxing atmosphere.
Well-spoted Internet was terrible in the 9th floor where I stayed. I found a cockroach under my bedroom.
friendliness of the staff no
Helpful and freindly Wind noise from badly fitting windows. Could not get breakfast as too full.
From arrival to departure, we were made to feel that we were guests and not just people to fill rooms. We would stay there again when next we visit Durban.
The Royal Grill is magnificent. The staff are extremely friendly. The bar is quaint.
Breakfast was very good, the location in the center of the city is good, you can walk to the beach (± 1 km). the staff at the reception was not interrested in the customer
Proximity to the marina. The suite was quite acceptable. Breakfast good. No room service after 10am - according to reception. The room phones only worked intermittently. Reception was sloppy & unhelpful in organising transport. Reception didnt even know how long I had booked the room and 3 times blocked the door key!
Although its in the city, you don't get to hear to city noise and the views from the hotel are very nice the furtniture in the room is going.
They have a gym with a nice view at the top floor. The back and neck massage was the best I've ever got. The hotel is gallant but old, in a busy street. On their website they advertise a glorious hotel with 5 restaurants and more, just one was open, buffet style, good food but our wine glasses came wet and dirty.
The srevice was excellent and the staff was very friendly. The parking space for cars.
Difficult to provide a meaningful evaluation as I was there solely on business and spent very little time actually in the hotel. Within these confines would say that the best aspects were the comfort, architecture and decor, and exceptional staff service. Hot water in the shower took ages to come through.
Friedly staff and good value. Nice for a short breakaway.
Comfort of the room and lounge, friendly and helpfull staff and convenient location for local restaurants.
The cleanliness and decor/presentation were second to none. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There wasn't enough information made available for people who don't know the area.
Made to feel very welcome and I was looked after well.
Mr. Graaff enjoyed his stay and will be staying there again. No
it was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpfull the bathroom and toilet were too close to the bed
Staff were always friendly, helpful, keen to assist and always on hand We were expecting a bath in our bathroom as per photos on internet, and at no point were we told we had to advise we wanted a bath, all photos reflected baths in on-suite bathrooms.
Spacious room with comfortable bed. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
The welcome, the quality of accommodation and the breakfasts were all superb and the help and advice offered by the management team was all very useful. As I was there for the rugby at the Absa Stadium, the only possible negative was the distance from town, although the location and neighbourhood more than made up for this.
Really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the staff were all excellent, would do anything for you to make your stay even better. Great location, a little out of Durban city centre but that suited us. The rooms were magnificent, home from home really. All in all a fantastic place to stay on your holidays.
Every aspect of the stay was great. Excellent facilities, loaction, staff are extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. Excellent.
Everything was good at The Sandringham - from the efficiency and frienfliness of the Management throught to the quality of the rooms and facilities. Only small comment is that the room we were allocated was on the small side - but still adequate and luxurious.
The motto of this hotel is, "We treat you like royalty", and they very much lived up to this. I had a number of requests over and above the usual B + B and these were dealt with courteously and quickly Parking was a bit tight
For a beautifully decorated Hotel with comfortable rooms Staff did not know how to direct people to the hotel and the shower pressure was to low and only a trickle of water came out. Advertise a roof top pool but only used for functions - why advertise it if you can't use it.
location, free parking, staff were friendly and tried to sort out all the snags & problems (being a pretty new hotel) internet was apparently not free as advertised on your site, tv remote was too complicated even for me a gadget guru
All was fine I only stayed one night I did not like the fact that there was no safe in the room, and when I requested another gown nobody came.
Location, Large modern spotless room/em-suite. Lovely pool, garden and outdoor sitting areas. Jack and Mark great hosts and exceptionally helpful and friendly.
Our stay at the Manaar House was just spectacular and exceeded our expectations. This is a charming self-catering bed-and-breakfast. We stayed in the family two-story suite. The suite was spacious and well designed. All of the necessary amenities were available including kitchen facilities along with a washer and dryer. The hosts of the Manaar house (Jack and Mark) were extremely gracious and tended to all of details that made our stay extremely comfortable and enjoyable. Although we had originally booked it for our family of four, we had two additional family members join us during the trip at the last minute. Our hosts were quite accommodating and made the necessary adjustments to assure that we were comfortable. Located in a safe area. Internet facilities available but somewhat expensive.
Very friendly staff, good location, secure car parking. We booked the self-catering unit & all the facilities were available. Would highly recommend as a place to stay.
We've spent a 4-day week-end at Manaar House. The guest house itself is nice, clean and comfortable. We rented the Luxury self-catering appartment, and we had comfortably place for 5 persons, 3 adults and 2 children. 2 negative points : Located right behind the highway, so rather noisy, and not very close to the beach.
Proprietors very helpful and attentive and the accomodation was of a high standard. Our stay was in one of the self catering units and the facilities were very good. Some noise intrusion from the nearby busy M4 road but thankfully this was confined mainly to daytime.
The friendliness of Jack and Mark, constantly made sure the stay was pleasant.
The hotel is very comfortable and the hosts are evry helpful to make the stay a relaxing one.
Everything. Mark and Jack were great, very friendly. Made us feel at home and part of the family. Very helpful, couldn't do enough for us from advising where to go, restaurants to organising cabs. The fact that we had to leave!
Reception and the help was excellent. Room and facilities is the room was good. No view. You look into a wall and another building outside.
Location was good and staff were hepful. rather expensive especially the tours that were offered. Double bed was provided as two single beds put togather rather than a "double"bed.
If you have to be in the city centre of Durban, then this hotel is an ideal choice. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms (with a sea-view) are spacious and elegant. There is a splenid terrace overlooking the beach and Marine Parade. The only drawback is the air of seedy dereliction that characterises the downtown CBD, and begins one or two blocks back from the coast. No
The staff were great, food was good, I enjoyed my stay. They should not accommodate kids in the double rooms as it is to small for a family
I didn't like the area which was far to dangerous to walk in after dusk.
the location was perfect for the needs that we had - the facilities could have been better though. Not really - but the facilities could be better
Service desk personnel very helpfull.
Extra charges where not expalined before commitment.
It was close to the Garden Court The room I booked and paid for was not the room i got ( no sea view, no double bed), when this was pointed out i was offered the room at a reduced rate but stll more than the quoted rate for a non sea view room. I didn't stay.. I left and went to Garden Court where for a cheaper price my room was double the size with a double bed and a sea view.
Everything was in order from the collection of us at the Airport, Breakfast was also good. Room service was Excellant. .
Friendly Staff Parking Arrangements, Breakfast Times.
Friendly, happy, efficient staff - eager to be of assistance. Cleanliness was superb, wide selection of breakfast choices, individually prepared for each guest ( Not pre-cooked and kept in a warming oven )
Service from staff & overall serene environment - good view of the new Moses Mabhida stadium. Parking constraints and having to wake up to move my vehicle in order let other guests through.
As I said above we enjoyed our stay at the Flinthouse Hotel and found the staff friendly and very helpfull Reginald Pauwels to many mosquitos...and no product to get rid of them
My stay was pleasant, the parking is a bit cramped but acceptable.
Close to Durban Central and to the beaches - but in a very calm district. Fan and A/C in room, nice garden and pool and a very friendly Hotel staff. I saw complaints on this website ... I had a warm welcome, a clean room, fresh towels, A/C, a nice breakfast - a super stay; I only can recommend this Guest House!
It was quite and nice, whixh is what I prefer. The self service and catering were good I was nearly given a romm that I did not book because of overbooking. Thats terrible and need attention
Warm welcome from the staff and their service delivery
Not enough parking, Ugly finishing, Linen is Tired, Bathroom old and worn out. Stains on curtains. Bad smell throughout the guesthouse.
location to resturants No pool or outdoor facilities
The room was very nice and spacious. The service at breakfast was very caotic and unorganised (no supervision). Cleaniness was also lacking unfortunately.
The room The parking card that needs to be renewed everytime you drive out
the friendly service Room service was very slow
Professionalism of the staff Limited viewing of dstv channel. Me and my family we love amongst other channel number 182 and the like but we were limitedto watch only 12 channels
the room was spacious and beautiful. we have a 6 yr old daughter and we had privacy as she had her own room and tv
Had a good stay. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a central place in Durban.
It is overall very professional The staff members did not inform me that the parking is for free although I paid R100 from my pocket - when looking at the receipt parking was included.
Room and facilities were excellent, service and assistance from staff exceptional.
The facilities were excellent, modern clean and in this regard we enjoyed the stay. 1. Upon Checking in, (We arrived about 13h50 on our check in day) the check in staff were in a dis-array and we were left feeling like intruders rather than guests. On the second day our room was not serviced by 16h00 in the afternoon. 2. breakfast it also seemed that the staff were not aware of the amount of guests as there were no plates and bowls available. This was a tad frustrating
