This may be a Kayak issue. I searched SAN airport location and I was given one 20miles away from the airport.

Car was extremely dirty (have video/pics), gas was only 3/4 full when picked up and the web site when scheduling was to be picked up at airport rental area but was told we had to go 17 miles for car, thus causing us to get Uber to get to other Hertz. Not fun experience. Did not have to pay return of car to airport and not original location.

Car was filthy when I picked it up. Also, there was less than 1/2 tank of gasoline. Almost as soon as I got out of the lot, the tire pressure alarm went off and I had to go find air to fill one of the tires. The car was well "used". The floor carpet on the passenger side was coming up. Other than the above, the car drove and rode well on the 1600 mile trip.

I rented a pickup truck from Hertz. It was very easy to pick up and drop off. On both, I spent less than 15 minutes on pick up and drop off. The truck was in great shape and was a pleasure to drive. The only problem I have with this truck is that now I want one for myself.

They were closed at the time I was supposed to pick up my rental. Why would you give the customer a choice of pickup times that included hours that the pickup location is closed?? Awful. Absolutely awful. Cost me hours of my time and hundreds of dollars. Will never use your site or Enterprise again.

Cons:

I have reserved with Avis three times now and theee times they have no car available when I got there. The third time I had called to confirm they were not out of cars. They said as long g as I arrive by 1pm I would get a car. I was there at 11:30. No cars available. I will never ever use Avis Budget again.

When arriving at the La Jolla location, the Avis representative was not present for over 15 minutes past the time the desk was supposed to have opened.
