Staff very efficient and the Hotel rooms very clean and all i'd expect for a standard room. Restaurant food was exeptional and anyone staying needs to book a table for dinner and not miss out on a great menu cooked with love and attention to detail.
The location of the hotel and the breakfast was lovely! Parking instructions weren't that clear when we phoned and the bed wasn't very comfortable.
Nice touches such as decanter of sherry and fruit as well as the coffee/tea making facilities. Shower pressure was rather variable.
We had a great time were well looked after and plan to visit again n/a
The staff were very friendly and helpful, always ready with a smile. The food was very good indeed. Our room was just above the kitchen and consequently a bit too warm during the night.
Off the beaten track and quiet. Staff very friendly and food good. Room on the small side and parking can be difficult
good comfy big room and warm welcome
The food was excellent, the hotel was quiet and mostly comfortable. The staff were helpful and for the most part charming. Lots of hot water and a good shower. One of the beds (rm10) was seriously uncomfortable. None of the sash windows in our room (6) worked and had to be jammed up with something. There were no decent draws in which to put stuff in room 6 - which was fine for 2 nights but would have been a bore for longer, it was clean but I think was probably last decorated a long time ago.
Everything was in good taste and well presented.
Excellent access to the town centre. Comfortable. The restaurant looked very good but I had booked the hotel for the room only. A small but irritating issue is I think all hotels should have free wifi it costs next to nothing to provide. Get with it Lake Isle!
Welcome and ambiance, excellent and very comfortable room.
Almost everything no
Very quiet and peaceful setting. I liked the fact the room was not above the pub/bar, but in separate little cottages at the rear of the pub. Excellent food. Room very spacious and lovely large bathroom with whirlpool bath - very relaxing! no mobile phone signal!!
we stayed in 'bede' lovely upstairs bathroom with spa bat scrambled eggs at breakfast
The Old White Hart is an excelent bed and breakfast with friendly, helpfull staff and lovely rooms. I shall recommend it to friends and family and shall stay there again.
quality of the food and friendliness of the staff A little dark and dusty, rustic!!!!
Wonderful Food, pretty Inn in lovely village
We liked the rural village and the hotel ambience . The meals were prepared promptly to a good standard None
The staff was very accommodating. Also the food was excellent.
Very pleasant staff, good food, clean, well appointed room. If anything the bed was a little 'hard' for our taste.
Have stayed here twice and will place the hotel on my regular list of places to stay.Great value for money;superb atmosphere;ample free parking with friendly staff eager to help as required.Excellent meals and all round pleasing. Nothing
The food was excellent Bit cold getting from room to hotel resturant
Room was nice, staff friendly, did not get to use many facilities but they appeared satisfactory. The quality of the breakfast could have been slightly better, meal was slightly under cooked.
The food was excellent The bed was uncomfortable (room 37)
Room was large, comfortable and well-appointed. Location beautiful and peaceful. Breakfast very good Evening meal over-priced
Good location with some excellent views of Rutland Water in distance. Room was comfortable; well appointed bathroom; very comfortable double bed. Some staff a little indifferent; breakfast service was patchy; room make-up did not replace used items,
very pleasant staff and good food room was a bit noisy due to people upstairs, would ask for different one next time
Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Courtyard setting very relaxing. Slightly understaffed for dinner / evening bar.
Beautiful location, good food and pleasant staff.
Beautiful rooms and building
Friendliness of staff. Efficient(had sent my electric toothbrush on its way to me before I asked). Good attention to detail Would have liked to have read the guardian at breaffast
The staff were friendly & helpful - the rooms comfortable without being "outstanding"! The food was good without being gourmet. -
Staff were friendly and eager to please. Room was clean and comfortabel with everything provided. Food was excellent and value for money. Both the lovely breakfasts with lots of choices and the evening menu beautifully cooked and presented. Only down side was the evening menu on Sunday was just "Light Bites" and was very limited for choice. We were unaware of this when we booked our table, though the Chef did provide us with a starter and main course at his usual standard.
Nice bar, good food, friendly staff. The room was a little on the small side.
Excellent location, beautiful fittings, friendly staff, lovely village location, excellent restaurant.
All good !! Room, Food, Staff, Location etc None
A friendly welcome, excellent food and a good range of ales. Quiet and rural but within easy reach of Market Harborough for shopping and Rutland Water for leisure activities On arrival we were told that we could make dinner reservations for the restaurant. When we tried to do this we were told in fact it was not possible for the Saturday evening due to a wedding reception.
Friendly atmosphere, great setting and excellent bar and restaurant.
The food was outstanding. The bed was never made for us. The towels were not changed during our three night stay. The walls were made of cardboard, very noisey! We stayed in room triple b for three nights, the first two nights were quiet, on the 3rd night we must have had a couple of male drunk fishermen in the next room. At approx. midnight, they came into their room next door to us and just did not stop talking and crashing about. It wasn't until about approx. 2 am they finally went to sleep and then the snoring kicked in!! At 6 am they had 2 mobile phones ringing to wake them up and us!! At 7 am they left the room and we had peace at last!!!! If we had had proper brick built walls maybe we would not have heard all of this. Many thanks.
A friendly little hotel with good facilities, in a nice village. No
Comfortable, friendly and welcoming. Lovely peaceful countryside location. This was ideal for an overnight stay whilst attending a wedding. Could happily have stayed longer. Great breakfast upon departure.
Friendly Staff Price was a little high compared to some others I used during my trip.
nice and quiet
Staff very ready to help, always friendly, food very good. Lovely location.
Excellent food and service None
Good location for a trip to Oakham and Rutland. Could do with a bit of a clean - there were cobwebs everywhere. Room was cold, and the small portable radiator provided didn't do much to warm it up.
Friendly and helpful staff bathroom floor dirty and carpet covered in bits.Paintwork extremely grubby
Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, very good breakfast (more than enough) and central location. I would be happy to stay here again.
Good greeting - nice feel to the hotel - good breakfast Shower was very poor
Good breakfast, comfortable basic room, friendly atmosphere. Was value for money so no problems.
Well located in town, good breakfast, nice garden. Shower head was falling off the wall, room decor was dated, lounge bar that was not open, was offened when one of our party asked for beans at breakfast.
Easy and relaxed place to stay in a pretty historical town Loved the walled garden with all the little sparrows. there really wasn't anything that I didn't like.
large, bright room and very close to the centre
Attractive hotel, good breakfast. Ceiling of room leaked on to our bed in middle of night from upstairs shower causing us a very disturbed night. On informing management in morning no apology was forthcoming and no discount was offered. We eventually negotiated a small discount.
Centrally located for the town, walks and other villages nearby. Staff very friendly and helpful
Beautiful old hotel in quiet town, and good value for money; made to feel very welcome Couldn't get the shower to work so had a bath instead
As we only stayed one night it is hard to really comment.
Pleasant and accommodating staff Price of the evening meal for the main course not value for money
Friendly service. Quiet. Very good dinner and breakfast No
Reception staff very helpful Cost of breakfast very poor value for money. Could not accept American Express.
Nice breakfast and very good location for rutland water.
Welcoming, clean and comfortable, lovely old room. A background noise, like a fan, not the en-suite, that ran all the time. it was only noticeable at quiet times, but spoiled a perfect room a little.
Great personal service from owner and staff
The dining room [dated 1604] and the quality of the food. We felt it was too quiet because of lack of visitors due to weather, floods etc.
The friendly and informal atmosphere and the food was amazingly good. car park a bit on the small side, tv in room outdated, bathroom needed updating
hotel was quiet, with a comfortable feel and the atmosphere was very plesent
Very friendly, helpful staff, good location for the purpose of our stay which was visiting Burghley Horse Trials, easy to find In need of a bit of updating decor wise, wallpaper coming off in places. Shower wasn't working but was made aware of this at check in and slight price reduction to compensate for this
friendly staff; easy access
The location the restaurant
The charming room overlooking the courtyard and the central location especially on market day Lack of relaxing area for 2 octogenarians in the evening
Friendly approachable staff
location was excellent and parking facilities good. the hotel needs a good lick of paint and upholstery cleaning.
The staff were excellent, always cheerful and helpful Would have been good if the room had had a shower in addition to the bath
Very clean and comfortable room, helpful staff and excellent on site restaurant; plus good central location. Disappointing continental breakfast - just toast and coffee!
Not enough lighting.
very near to my son's school
FAntastic location with beautiful views. Nice helpful staff especially the waiters at breakfast! Rather 'tired- looking' furniture in the family room. The 'extra bed' in the room was a sofa bed, which was rather uncofortable and also not suitable for young children as our young daughter hurt herr knee on the metal frame when climbing into bed!!
With a balcony view to die for,to relax in a super four poster, after a whirlpool bath I would recommend this stay as a break of discovery.. Fairly deep pockets required but you shoukd not let that put you off.BEAUTIFUL Nothing found
value for money,location,food
Friendly Staff and Choice of food at Dinner No
Ideal position with beautiful view outside our window Chef was not on duty on our first night so menu was limited
The location id fabulous
Room not prepared.I.E. Dirty plates empty wine bottles.when we were told room was ready
The location of Hotel and the atmosphere within. Parts of hotel decor could do with a little T.L.C. We both also found the wardrobe"style" a bit odd and restrictive.
Room was very comfortable and clean and the location on Rutland Water is good - we have stayed there before. The choice of cooked breakfast was very poor - only scrambled eggs available , no choice of fried or poached for example. Plus it was all basiclly look warm whcih meant by the time you ate it , it had gone completely cold !
The surroundings are beautiful Bathroom smelt of damp Shower could not be used No T.V. zapper Frayed carpet and unfinished paintwork
I think the best feature is the location as we were right on the resevoir with easy access to it. Nothing
Lovely gardens beautifully kept with views over the water. Very good swimming pool available free to guests. Improved service in restaurant. No
The view of the lake and the friendly staff The bedding - one sheet and a blanket is not enough in November should have had a nice duvet. The hotel was in separate buildings - reception in one, bedroom in others, Restaurant in yet another.
Loved location views one the best English hotels I have stayed in especially for the star rating given. The bed was very uncomfomfortable you could feel the springs left me with an aching back.
Not bad (See above remarks) The swimming pool was not open till late and also I found the going up the stairs to get a toweland also to book in at the desk was a bit of a bind.
Walked round Rutland Water and visited three local towns.
Location & views of Rutland Water
The beautiful view from our room over Rutland Water, waking up to that view each morning made our day, and the staff who we had met previously and who made our stay perfect. Nothing to dislike.
Excellent discounted tarriff, good breakfast, quiet room. I could not print my confirmation and reception had me booked in for the wrong night!(12th Nov.) However when I returned home and checked my confirmation it had the correct date the 11th. It was fortuitous that there was a room available
the hotel and the fantastic location, cant wait to go back. no
Sadly the experience with poor quality expensive food and bad service in the restaurant coloured other aspects of the hotel The food is of very poor quality for the prices being charged. Service in the restaurant poor - beggars polite description. Very small room that would be inconvenient for a stay longer than a couple of nights - no area to relax in other than the bar that was small for the numbers even in November!
It was a pleasant surprise. It was more of an old english inn than a hotel. The room was comfortable but the only thing that it lacked was a shower. Instead there was a bath which doesn't appeal to everyone. That there was no shower head.
Staff keen to help and really put themselves out to make my stay as comfortable as possible.....Nothing was too much trouble. Food in restaurant reasonably priced and of a good standard/quality Location is also ideal......Right in the centre of the town Cant really find any bad points except I thought the carpet in the room could do with either being replaced,or commercially cleaned?
Staff were friendly and attentive, food was excellent although we didn't get our potato's! Location is good and the rooms comfortable. The furniture in the room is tatty and spoiled the moment, the bath is too small, we had to plug the kettle in to the wall by my bedside table,as the nearest point for electric. There is a big slope downwards in the room as well, but it was fun!
Cannot rate the hotel as did not get to stay there. Hotel staff were excellent in finding an alternative but Booking.com had caused a massive overbooking in Oakham that night. I would recommend the hotel but not Booking.com
Very nice clean, welcoming with excellent food. Overcame booking problem with minimum of fuss.
Homely, good atmosphere Sat night, food good. Exc service from staff
Great place, lively bar, busy restaurant, excellent staff. Excellent low cost hotel Nothing
Very charming with helpful staff. Lovely and convenient setting. Room was a bit dusty, and had to request toilet rolls.
convienient with pub and restraunt downstair serving great food and drink and realxingatmosphere a bit noisy after midnight as the pub doesn't close till 2am and the rooms are right above the bar
The room with the four poster is fabulous! Get in there if you can. Very nice hotel.
