All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was large and well appointed, everywhere appeared well looked after including the large grounds. Good breakfast.
So lovely and picturesque
Although the food was very nice in the evening it was expensive and there were limited choices if you didn't want to spend a lot. Children's menu burger was £12.
Loved the old architecture and its location on the river Thames.
There was a musty smell as soon as you entered the hall to our room. This continued into the room. The beds were also very hard and uncomfortable. Very expensive. . We also found the staff apart from a lady in the bar, were most unprofessional. We ordered a cab from the man at the front door and advised we would wait in the sitting room off the entrance. The cab came and waited 20 mins before leaving as our man had no idea who we were and where we were waiting. Nor did he care.
Loved the breakfast, really nicely set out, jars of seeds and a green juice, well done! Fab location, terrace restaurant was superb and the location on the water was just stunning. Pool was just big enough for a good swim although with more than 4 of us swimming would have been crowded. Nicely kept, good staff. All the staff I came across everywhere were charming, well done.
The odd thing about it is that while the location is perfect and the building is fabulous, it seems that the decor is just a bit off in the public rooms. The terrace and everything outside was literally fantastic, and the grounds well kept, but the decor and furniture in the lounges and bars seemed so out out of date, not comfy and didn't match, it was almost like a place of two halves? Outside fab, inside dated. The breakfast room was hot and dark (unlike where the food was served which was perfect). It seems like they need to get an interior designer in to spruce it all up, you come in the amazing front door and are let down in the bar and lounges. SO much potential.
