Qawra, or Il-Qawra, is a town on the north-east coast of Malta and is part of St. Paul's Bay. With its coastal location, sea breeze and popularity with tourists, this destination is vibrant enough without a beach. The rocks along the coastline provide a place to sunbathe and hop into the sea and the bars and clubs are often very lively.

Qawra is a great destination to visit almost all year round, with the summers being hot, the spring time a little wet but with otherwise pleasant weather and the autumn sunny but quieter than summer. In winter, you will find inexpensive travel and accommodation for your Qawra holidays but it still makes an ideal time to come and relax and sightsee. Qawra is half an hour's drive from Malta International Airport. Getting around once you are in the town is easiest on foot. Malta's time zone is GMT +1.

Qawra holidays: what not to miss

If you are a sporty family or group, you will not be disappointed in Qawra because there are speed boats and banana boats to take a ride on. You can also go diving at popular spots such as Smuggler's Cove and Crystal Lagoon. A trip to Cirkewwa at the most northern point of Malta will take you to the home of Paradise Bay which is cited as one of Malta's finest beaches. The beach is surrounded by cliffs and offers stunning views and there are many lively nightclubs, bars and restaurants to sample. Qawra Tower, a fortification originally built by the knights of St. John, now houses a restaurant and swimming pool in its gun battery. Just eighteen kilometres away from Qawra sits the capital city of Malta, Valletta.
