Jalisco is in the heartland of Mexico, located on the Pacific coast. The capital of Jalisco is Guadalajara and the region also has some notable destinations along its coastline such as Puerto Vallarta.
As the capital of Jalisco Guadalajara has one of the primary airports in the region. However, visitors visiting the coast can also land at the airport in Puerto Vallarta. Jelisco has a tropical climate during the summer months but there is also a notable rainy season from June to October. As rainfall peaks during August and September, May or June are probably better months for Jalisco holidays. The time zone is GMT-6.
Puerto Vallarta, on the Pacific Coast, has some of the best beaches for Jalisco holidays. It lies at the Bay of Banderas which is one of Mexico's largest natural bays. Among the beaches in Puerto Vallarta is Los Muertos which has white sand, sparkling sunshine and a beach pier. The Playa Conchas Chinas beach is another of Jalisco's beaches which has a series of rocky coves. El Anclote beach, at Punta Mita, is a great for surfing and includes the movie ruins from the film Night of the Iguana.
Guadalajara is a city which has some notable architecture. For example, visitors can visit the Hospicio Cabañas chapel during their Jalisco holidays. The Museo del Ejército y de la Fuerza Aérea ( Museum of the Army and Air Force) is a military museum in Guadalajara. Check out Guadalajara's Teatro Degollado (Theatre) which is the venue of the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra. To the northeast of Guadalajara there is the Huentitán Canyon which includes hiking trails. South of Guadalajara is Lake Chapala where visitors can take boat tours of the lake from the Chapala pier.
