Whilst it is possible to take public transport around Houston, the best idea is to hire a car, as Houston is a large city that is quite spread out. A good place to start in Houston is visiting its famous Space Center. The official museum of NASA, the Space Center includes capsules from important space missions, fascinating guided tours and exhibitions suitable for all ages. With numerous facilities, including a restaurant, it is possible to spend an entire day soaking up the information about mankind's foray into space.

Another must see is Houston's Downtown Aquarium. With over 200 species of sea life, the aquarium is one of the most impressive in the United States. For another great family outing, take a trip to the Houston Museum of Natural Science; over a hundred years old, it's no wonder this museum is one of the most popular in America, with a vast collection of artifacts, an observatory, and the Burke Baker Planetarium. In the Uptown area of the city, head to the Houston Galleria. The largest mall in Texas, and one of the largest in the country. The Galleria has high-end fashion boutiques, restaurants, and even a ice skating rink.
