Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant hotel in a great location! I so enjoyed this place and the staff were very friendly and always happy to help. The room was wonderful and so cosy and warm, just what was needed in January. The self-catering facilities was good with all you would need to cook meals. It was stocked with tea, coffee and sugar plus a small carton of milk in the fridge. A local supermarket is within a few minutes walk to buy groceries. The hotel is on the main street so noise is inevitable. My room was overlooking the main street which I really enjoyed...just watching the world go by outside in the snow whilst being warm inside with a cuppa! I will definitely stay here again.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location but parking can be an issue. Comfortable beds and good size.
Cons: Not well marked.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great, location is amazing also couldn't get anymore central , bathroom was so lovely, room was just great also comfortable, nothing to complain about
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A really lovely hotel with lots of special touches, perfectly located for shops, bars and restaurants of downtown Reykjavik. The staff were absolutely wonderful too. I can highly recommend it!
Cons: Rooms at the back of the building don't have a great view, but the silence makes for a great night's sleep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Decor, room set up for family - 2 proper double beds, not a pull out bed or sofa for 2 big kids. Kitchen area, coffee machine, location, quirky boutique feel, cosy and comfortable.
Cons: Ceiling height! We are a tall family and were in the attic! Shower door/tray leaks... but that's shower cubicle's for you! Value for money was good, but you wouldn't want to pay more.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely loved our stay at the town house, the lady on reception was so helpful and managed to get us checked in early. The rooms are so well equipped and we ended up eating in the room one night and enjoying the apartment as it was so beautiful. The location is amazing, just 15 minutes walk from the BSI bus terminal and it's so close to all the down town bars and restaurants.
Cons: The only niggle is there was no bath and after a super cold day in Reykjavik that was the only thing I missed.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Kind and helpful staff, room was clean and very nicely decorated. The shower was amazing. Shame the views looked over a building site although we know this couldn’t be helped.
Cons: We would have liked an option of having a hot breakfast, however the selection at breakfast time was good.
7.1 Good
Pros: Great design, good location & reasonably priced bar
Cons: Breakfast very ordinary & overall staff seem disinterested. Housekeeping wasn’t great for a high quality hotel. Overall not a standard I would expect from this category.

Pros: The apartments are very easy to find (even in pitch dark), are very clean and extremely cosy. But the breathing view in the morning makes all the money. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the price of the property was very good compared with other hotels.
Cons: We only had to stay one day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great rooms, great view, exelant staff. Good location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: You can tell the owner/manager cares about this place and the service provided. There was a difference between what she had on file and our reservation through Kayak, and she rectified it immediately. She also went above and beyond in providing recommendations and even helping to track down a lost credit card.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It's our second time staying in this apartment. Just feel like home away from home. Nice equipped kitchen and Bonus the budget supermarket is just within the walking distance. Would really recommend it as a base for Reykjavik and Golden circle.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, great rooms, friendly staff.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: It was a little bit noisy with the construction going on while I was there (Jan 2020). Once it is done it’s gonna be perfect.

Pros: We had an amazing stay with perfect location and wonderful staff!! :)
Cons: -
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location Great staff Tidy Warm Good breakfast Great shower Walking distance to all main areas
Cons: Shower was blocked when we got there. Fixed within an hour of asking. Construction work going on at the back of the hotel (Jan 2020) However the room is very well sound proofed so not a problem.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were really friendly. Staff member behind the bar (I'm terrible with names) had a great character and was up for a chat - very welcoming. Room was lovely and spacious, with suggestions of the original character alongside the mostly newer refurbished aesthetic. Clean and warm with comfy beds.
Cons: Very minor issues. No toilet brush (leaves evidence!) nor any coat hooks upon entering the room (211 / Sigur Ros). Construction site next door gave us no issues, but maybe there was downtime due to weather. Two single duvets on a double bed.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely building in great location. Facilities in the room were excellent. The guy who prepares breakfast is a great source of information about Iceland!
Cons: Breakfast was limited and no hot food.

Pros: Host was very kind and the rooms were very clean. Even though the bathroom was shared didnt have much trouble, well coordinated among us.The breakfast was good with healthy options for fruits and vegetables. I liked the anchovies. Nice location and we got opportunity to meet people from different parts of the world. Breakfast time was fun as we had great people stayed we all shared our adventures.
Cons: We had to get drinking water from the downstairs bathroom in the night, it would have been better to have water filled in a container for the guests.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We are family of four, parents and two boys 7 and 4. We booked the family room, a room with four sleeps. The room is actually two rooms, the main bedroom and an interior bedroom with two single beds for the boys. This solution is very parent friendly. The sleeps are comfortable and the whole guesthouse looked very clean. The breakfast was simple but tasty and fresh. This guesthouse is recently renovated home closed to central Akranes. Actually, the guesthouse is more like visiting a relative since the hosts actually live in the building (in private area). The hosts are extremely friendly and make families with children feel welcome. We can totally recommend Akra Guesthouse.

Pros: Excellent facilities, walking distance to everything we needed. Supermarkets close by. The place was very quiet, didn’t see anyone. Good lift. Great bars and restaurants in the town. The room had everything you needed, great coffee! Can highly recommend!
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Great attention to detail fine finishes good location parking
Cons: no staff on site as arrived late
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the fact we had our own mini kitchen in room so we’re able to prepare lunches for our all day tours. Great location only a 5 min walk to the heart of Reykjavík and 10 minute walk to the bus terminal. Would defs recommend!
Cons: Can be a little noisy as close to the streets.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: It was close to the main road and bus stops you need for the excursions. The bed was ridiculously comfy.
Cons: There is a shelf in the shower that is placed in the wrong position. I'm a small person and struggled to get in the shower.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I like the kitchenette and very modern interior. We didn’t realise house keeping would be in and we accidentally left dishes. Despite this when we returned the dishes were cleaned. Very thankful to house keeping!
Cons: The reception area was empty? Just a random piano. There wasn’t any staff. We checked in and out at a desk. Felt a little impersonal.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Privacy. Quiet. Modern. Small. Short walk from bus station and downtown main strip and church.
Cons: TV channels were comical. 800 channels only about 25 worked and all were multiply duplicated... But who goes to Reykjavik for the television??? Still, it could have been easier.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about this property!! The room was amazing, very cozy and warm. We stayed for 9 nights in mid January in a Junior Suite. The bed sleep like a dream. Housekeeping kept our room clean and tidy. Breakfast was so delicious. The staff went out of their way to meet our needs. The location is very central making walking to most any attraction in the city easy. The bar made grabbing a drink before dinner so convenient, and they had a nice selection of wines. We loved our stay and will return to Reykjavík and will definitely stay here again.
Cons: -
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was extremely comfortable if a little small and it was quiet, set back from the main road. The breakfast was fantastic. All but one member of staff were very professional, friendly and helpful.
Cons: The receptionist on duty when we arrived was curt and unfriendly and rushed us through the checking in process, to the extent that she gave us the key card to the wrong room. On our first night we were disturbed by people walking into our room, having just checked in and been assigned the same room as us with the keycard coded to open our room. This was embarrassing and could have been avoided if the receptionist had taken more care.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast!
Cons: If I'm been picky then would say the room was quite small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel in a brilliant loacation. The hotel was immaculate and had the most comfortable beds and pillows. Also the best shower! It was in a great location and the staff were very helpful and booked all our trips for us. Highly recommend!!
Cons: Nothing
6.7 Good
Pros: Good location. Modern & clean. Decent breakfast
Cons: The room was so small it made me claustrophobic! Couldn’t unpack our cases as nowhere to put anything. Couple of hangers on side of unit but as soon as coats were hung up they then hung over the bed! A shelf in the bathroom for toiletries would have been good but didn’t even have that. Shame really as otherwise would have been a lovely hotel
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great size rooms and very comfy beds. Nespresso machine and bathroom toiletries great. Very good choice at breakfast with yummy bread and pastries. Excellent location at the heart of the city.
Cons: Noise transference - our first room’s location meant we were woken early by the neighbouring bakery’s door banging constantly. We then moved room to have the have the cleaners clean the room above us at a really early time The next day. Then the next day the people above were very noisy and when we managed to return for a rest the arm went off as the bakery had a burnt item! Meanwhile, with only one exception, the Reception staff were more concerned we interrupted their reading than helping.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location New hotel
Cons: Missed our flight with 7 yrs old, was charged for 1 night stay as was “too late to cancel “ and had “no insurance “. Would be nice if there was some «deviation” from the policy in this particular situation and in customer service for the whole Iceland. I felt like nobody fights here for their tourists. I guess a climate plays a role here .... Next time definitely would NOT stay here, as there other options
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was in the heart of everything. The bed was really comfortable and the room was really clean
Cons: I felt the staff could be more friendly, especially at Reception
10.0 Excellent
Cons: It definitely exceeded our expectations! The only negative thing would be parking. They don't provide a parking space for its guests.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic hotel in great location. Also upgraded for free on arrival so made it all the more special.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The decoration and the location
Cons: Little bit expensive
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The hotel decor in this hotel is really well designed. The lobby, the lounge, the restaurant & the rooms were all super cool. We loved it! We stayed in a really great room. It had a living room with a pullout that our 2 year old slept on & a great big king in the bedroom. The bathroom had a really cool clawfoot tub & big shower. I loved the decor in our room! Blackout curtains were great as we were jet lagged & the sun doesn't go down in the Summer iceland. Breakfast was yummy & the coffee was excellent. Everything is VERY expensive in Iceland but this hotel was pricey even for Iceland. Luckily we had a free night from hotels.com do we only had to pay the taxes. I'm very impressed with Canopy by Hilton though & hope to stay in another one of their hotels.
Cons: It was a bit noisy as our room was right on the busy road side of the hotel.
10.0 Excellent

9.0 Excellent

Pros: The rooms were clean, but small, comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful. The staff was outstanding. This was near the main shopping district
Cons: It smelled like someone had thrown up in the hallway. I believe the cleaning staff tried to clean it up as best they could but the smell lingered.

Pros: Lovely spa, staff very friendly and helpful. Room comfortable, everything you need in the room including use of a safe.
Cons: Room needed a little TLC, some scuffs to the paint work could do with a lick of paint but nothing too off putting.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: The staff was poor, the spa didn’t exist in practice, it was impossible to book a massage. They had not want to work at all!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I must mention the staff at this hotel! They were absolutely incredible and went above and beyond the call of duty! Five star rating in their service.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great! Around 45 minutes from the airport and a very short walk to the centre. The bus stop for tours and airport drop off/pick up is directly outside the hotel. Food at the hotel was really nice, we were told that the cost of food would be expensive, although it was on the expensive side the quality was excellent and was well worth paying that little extra. The hotel, restaurant, our room and the spa were really lovely, modern and very clean. The staff were friendly, nice and helpful, and answered any questions we had. We would 100% reccomend staying!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great all the staff were polite friendly and helpful especially Pedro on reception, the hotel had a fantastic, friendly, calm yet professional vibe just like the rest of this fantastic city, the location was perfect nicely central and with a bus stop right outside I can honestly say this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in... Awesome porridge for breakfast yummy.
Cons: Nothing all was great I can’t fault the hotel at all, the only issue was the cold winds but hay you can’t fight nature, I suppose my only slight niggle would be if the Happy hour went on for longer to say 8 pm

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very very very nice~And the employees are very thoughtful…
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was great. From the atmosphere and decorations to the people working there. The front desk staff were amazing and friendly. They were always ready to help and had a smile on there faces everyday. We got a family sized room for two people just because I heard the rooms might be smaller. However the room was bigger than I expected including the bathroom. You hear that the shower doors fold to make more room. However even extended there is enough room for the other person to use the sink or get ready. The hotel gives you a cell phone with data included, which was honestly amazing. I made the phone into a wifi hotspot and was able to use my own cell phone throughout the trip. Just bring portable charger with you as the phone battery dies quickly this way. The hotel is also located on the main strip and perfect walking distance from restaurants and bars. But a few blocks down so you don't hear the noise of the bars at night. We never tried the breakfast downstairs as we always had say trips planned in the mornings. There is a bakery down the street that is open early I can't remember the name of it but the front desk told us about it. Big enough to sit down and have breakfast, but gets packed as well so give yourself enough time if you have morning plans. The room does come with a pot to make your own hot tea and instant coffee if you are in a rush.
Cons: Hard to say what I did not like about the hotel. The only thing I can think of is that the room gets very warm and with no thermostat to control temperature. We opened the window everyday however it only opens a tiny crack and doesn't stay open on its own. Probably from the wind outside. Just bring light pajamas with you and you will be fine.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location and view.
Cons: Smal room, not much storage room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel. Clean rooms, helpful staff, nice amenities, fabulous location. Stayed here with a few friends for our four day visit. The location is very central to great shopping, restaurants and bus stop for excursions, Highly recommend and will definitely return.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: very nice and comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm bed and room in the winter!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel was exceptional, close to some great restaurants, cafes, bars and shopping. Also the staff were great, assisting with all tour bookings and airport transfers.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Somehow this isn't mentioned on their website or any reviews I've seen, but Hotel Alda gives each guest an android smartphone in lieu of a room phone. This phone works throughout Iceland, has reception on speed dial, and has all the other bells and whistles you'd expect of s smartphone: maps, activity guides, etc. A great and welcome surprise!
Cons: Unfortunately for the hotel, but fortunately for Reykjavik generally, there is a bit of construction going on near the facilities. Not a big deal if you're getting up early to go on an adventure, but if you intend to sleep in do ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. This advice should be good through the end of summer 2015.

Pros: Very central and close to all the attractions Reykjavík has to offer. Clean and good sized rooms. Breakfast, even though expensive (as everything is there) it’s actually good value for money.
Cons: Very noisy if you get the rooms to the back because of bars next by playing very loud music through the night. Pillows not the most comfortable. Spa is in a different hotel and it’s quite modest.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast reasonable but could have been better. Location excellent
Cons: Breakfast could have been better
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Small friendly place. Quiet too.
Cons: Evening receptionist was very unkind, unwelcoming. He could not care less if we were there or not. I we have not seen such a person at hotels in a while.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Lotus was perfect for our first night in Rejkyavik. It was easy to get to by car, and we were able to walk to the city center with no issues. The hotel itself was simple, clean and very comfortable. The owner/manager was very nice and gave us recommendations of where to go (swimming pool, city center, etc.) while we were there. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of food and fantastic coffee. Overall a perfect stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice coffee and cake for free at night. Excellent affordable hotel. Good breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel had plenty of parking which was perfect for us when we hired a car. The rooms were compact but were cosy and everything we needed. Breakfast in the morning was perfect start to the day before we set off on our Icelandic adventure.
Cons: The shower was temperamental once flooding part of our room. This was quickly resolved by the staff. It was just one of those things.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and proximity to main attractions, comfortable and nice rooms, nice isolation, quiet hotel for relaxing and enjoying the visit to Iceland.
Cons: Cleaningness and maintenance of the rooms could be improved
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Skuggi is a nice, modern hotel. Location is excellent, very close to the centre, as well as the bus stop for the various types of excursions. Staff was very professional, smiling and helpful, accommodated our requests very fast and efficiently. We loved the minimalistic design, the comfort of the bed and overall the room and our stay was great.
Cons: Room was not freshened up before our arrival, quite dusty. Plus daily cleaning could be better. Nothing extremely bad obviously, but it's a pity to lose points in customer satisfaction, given that overall the hotel is great. We would appreciate some more variety in the breakfast options, if you stay more than 2 days you can't eat the same things every day. Quality and number of options were very good, so rotating the menu would be great also.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy to find, secure car park. Rooms and bathroom spacious. Varied breakfast spread in the morning. Friendly and helpful staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beds were really comfy and the breakfast spread was amazing filled ya up for the day!
Cons: Everything was amazing no improvements required
7.0 Good
Pros: Great location
Cons: On the last morning a large heavy “stone hook” fell off the wall and onto my toe in the bathroom when I took my towel from it, it looked like it may have been loose for a while! When I told the gentleman on reception when checking out, he did not offer any apology or seem interested whatsoever, in fact he was almost annoyed that I was complaining! I have since lost my toenail and have a bruised foot from this so be careful people!!!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - indoor parking - breakfast (gluten free bread) - thumbs up for the kitchen staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was comfy and breakfast was great, lots of choices.
Cons: It would be helpful to maybe have a self service laundry or a laundry service that was guaranteed. I couldnt send in my laundry because it was going to take 1-2 days and if that was the case, it might have come back after i had to leave for the airport.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, walking distance from restaurants and shops (main street in Reykjavic), safe location. Very complete breakfast with eggs, toast, pancakes, oatmeal, fruit. Friendly staff, nice decor

Pros: Rooms very comfortable. Breakfast excellent.
Cons: Rooms size and very warm
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is centrally located in Reykjavik and next door to some excellent restaurants. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable of the area.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location within walking distance to busy city center Great value for the money Friendly staff Prompt service from staff & housekeeping Nice little restaurant in the lobby
Cons: For some reason the TV was messed up most of the time (would get frozen on certain channels and would have to get up and turn it off). However, was not in the room much, so this was not a big issue.
6.5 Good
Pros: The location was very nice and central.
Cons: The hotel staff were rude and not helpful. One night there was so much noise from people talking and partying until 3:00 am. Could not sleep. The buses no linger pick you up at the hotel. It the walk to the bus stop is less than five minutes. It was still inconvenient with all our luggage. We did not know that when booking.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant location, clean rooms and great breakfast.
Cons: The TV stopped working on the last day but we were offered another room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Charming cosy place - right in the centre of town. Always my first choice in Reykjavik.
Cons: Tiny quibble - teapots at breakfast would be lovely!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was amazing. The best we had in Iceland! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and the rooms exquisitely clean!
Cons: It got a bit hot in the room at night, but it was a minor issue.
6.2 Good
Pros: Location was good.
Cons: Parking was listed but it was public parking. We had to drive around and parked a few blocks away.
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good - a lovely continental selection with a range of cereals, yoghurts, cold meats and cheeses. The bread selection is excellent.
Cons: The hot items were not amazing but equally, not bad either. Larger cups for tea would be a big improvement - the cups are very small (for a mouse!) and it would be nice to have a pot of boiling water as the tea and coffee machine doesn't produce hot enough water for a really good cup of tea. Side/bread plates for toast would also be a good addition as we ended up using the saucers from the tea / coffee cups.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best staff at The Reception so helpful
7.0 Good
Pros: Location was great. Staff friendly and helpful.
Cons: The room was too small.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful breakfast buffet out every morning. All fresh and lovely. Very good, friendly, helpful staff. Location is perfect for being in walking distance of all the restaurants and very near bus stop pick up points. The decor is the original art deco style but it looks all new. Really lovely. Good Quality soaps and shampoos in the room but not small single use bottles. Cant fault this hotel at all.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Ideal location right in the centre of Reykjavik. Beautiful room, very spacious and well thought out with the amenities provided
Cons: Would have been nice to get an included breakfast for what we paid. Gym also a little run down
7.3 Good
Pros: Quiet, private.
Cons: I arrived at 7am but paid for the night before because I needed to sleep. At 12 noon it here was a nock on the door and a moment later a phone call. They wanted me to check out even though I had a five day reservation . Actually should not of been charged for the first day because I didn't get what I paid for, sleep. The staff was always to busy on the computer to acknowledge guest unless you engaged them.
7.1 Good
Pros: Great location
Cons: “Spa” facilities were sub-par. One very small hot tub, one small steam room and one small sauna. Overcrowded, and not at all relaxing.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Quiet and close to everything. Room was adequate for my purposes and comfortable to sleep in. The staff was helpful and friendly. Will definitely come back.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect and the price of the room itself was really good value
Cons: The cost of breakfast wasnt included and that wasnt made clear, also the price was £22.50 each per morning you can imagine my shock when i booked out after 3 nighta
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were so helpful. Delicious nespresso coffee machine in lobby and room. Room was huge with a seating area. Hotel kept beautifully warm and underfloor heating in spacious bathroom. Lovely spa area with gym, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Had the most divine facial with Veronica the beauty therapist. Highly recommend. Staff organised flybus for return to airport and gave really helpful advice. Highly recommend this gorgeous Art Deco inspired gem.
Cons: Loved everything
5.7 Okay
Pros: The location is great
Cons: There are so many more hotels in the area that in our opinion had much more to offer. We experienced a few hotels in the Reykjavik and the others were similar in price (if not less) and the staff was so wonderful and friendly, rooms were above and beyond and the amenities were far superior. Overall would give this a 3 out of 5 star.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent for trips to the west or the Golden Circle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was warm and welcoming. Helped us before our arrival for information around the area. There were brochures available upon arrival as well. The view was amazing, the hot tub in the villa was great and the accommodations were exactly as posted.
Cons: It was about a 90 minute drive to the hotel from Keflavic airport and arriving at night after a long travel day it was challenging. But, we knew this before we booked the hotel. However, the location of the hotel is in an incredible part of the country. Since the island is volcanic the water had a sulfur smell to it - something to get used to.
