They denied renting and did not accept the rental cover insurance that Kayak provided. I think I was duped by Kayak, Rental Cover and Enterprise where they charged me the insurance which the rental company did not accept and I did not get the car nor the refund on the insurance.Reviewed 4 Jul 2026

Car was not what I booked to hire, it was a cheaper downgraded car that I could have hired for £25 less. There was no option to change car or explanation why change of car. I drove past drop off area and saw lots of cars sitting there. Its Norwich, I wouldn't think were 15 bookings that weekend. Car shook when it went about 60mph so I don't think it was that safe and there was no form for me to fill out if there was an issue. Would not book again. First, We booked a toyota and we received a kia and perfomance of the car was poor. second, we booked with kayak that includes a damage protection expecting we did not need to purchase warranty from budget, but the agent at the counter said the protection was from kayak and not from Budget, and if we do not purchase the warranty from Budget they will need to hold $800 EUR from my credit card and will return it only after 1 month in which case i will also be charged additional Interest from my credit card and will result in a big utilization report on my credit bureau report, and will take away all of my remaining budget on my credit card for the entirety of my cruise trip. This made us feel like we are getting ripped off, so they suggested we purchase another protection directly from them for an additional $191.96 CAD we felt we were not left with any choice but to make the purchase. Lastly we picked up our vehicle at around 10am and they told us to return the car at 8:30pm as they are busy with other deliveries and they close at 9:00, it was very inconvenient for us as our cruise leaves at 11:00pm which had cut our scheduled trips within the island of Crete. We did not get to enjoy much of our visit because our rental had cut our scheduled trips and we were worried the whole day about rushing so we ciuld visit all the sites we wanted to see. It is very disappointing that a reputable company have these sales pressure procedures to milk money from clients. We have friends at the cruise that rented a better vehicle and were not charged as much and they had their vehicles delivered and picked up at the cruise port and did not go thru the same stress as we did. This is just like another scam by the rental company but now we have bad experience now with Budget Rent a Car. And we are not happyReviewed 1 Jul 2026
