2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The location and staff
Cons: The room was old fashioned, small and cold.
5.0 Okay
Pros: good staff and nice old building with character in good location
Cons: the only issue for me and why I marked it down was due to the bedroom which was very cramped with little room to move around , heating not easy to control and small bathroom .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed in room 1 on the ground floor which is a lovely large room nice and warm as we love it. Bath in the bathroom as well as a very good shower. We appreciated the free toiletries and tea, coffee facilities, and trouser press. The extra large double bed was firm with clean white linen. Staff were amazing, friendly and ever so helpful. They decided to move us upstairs for our second night for safety reasons regarding Storm Dennis (16 February 2020). Room 106 (opposite the main staircase with a stunning stained glass window) was small but comfortable and had what we needed (except bedside shelves/tables). We put our mugs, phones and spectacles on top of the headboard. Socket near the bed, and dimming lights above our heads ideal for reading. The dimmer switches are conveniently in the headboard. The bathroom with shower only is small but adequate for our needs. The breakfast/dining room is stunning with a huge wooden surround at the fireplace and huge windows overlooking the garden. Will book again as we loved it!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole place is amazing. The pub the restaurant and the rooms. The staff can’t do enough to please. The prices for rooms can be a bargain
Cons: We checked in with our dog as we know that the first two rooms are for dogs and have baths we did not specify we required a bath as we knew that the dog rooms have one, we stay there a lot. We love the bath in the room as we don’t have one at home and it’s one of the main reasons we have used this hotel regular. The receptionist didn’t seem bothered just told us NO and that the dog rooms were booked so we need to go in another room, one with a shower. We were very disappointed and were not even offered an apology just a charge for the dog that we would have got looked after, had we known. Most of the staff are nice but some spoil a good weekend :(

Pros: Room was a good size and was better than expected.
Cons: Some road noise when the window was open. We were given a key to use for entry to the hotel if late back. We arrived back at 11.30pm to find everywhere locked up. The key was not for the normal entrance. After approximately 20 mins wandering round the hotel trying various doors we found the key fitted a fire exit about 30m from the main door. This should have been made clearer to us when checking in.

Pros: Dog friendly room, easy access to grounds, clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful
7.7 Good
Pros: The rooms are very spacious, and having a choice of bath and shower was important to us, good value for money, breakfast very good plenty of choice and service at breakfast excellent.
Cons: confusion wether to wait at a table and wait for service or to order at the bar, felt a little bit invisible on the first evening, staff appeared to not want to serve the us, and when we asked where do we order (as a hint that we where ready to order) they told my partner it was up to him where he ordered and then quickly walked away. Wether this was due to them being busy I am not sure, however second evening was better but I did notice they where not as busy on the second evening. Breakfast staff could not have been more attentive without being overbearing they were excellent.
