Hotel easy to find clean and tidy rooms staff very helpful No real bad points
Very noisy outside late into the night. Duvet too heavy and therefore too hot
friendly staff easy parking cost
Welcoming environment in the hotel. Comfortable lobby, nice and friendly service.
location,room,breakfast,room service and staff excelent
Proximity to centre of town terrific. Underground car park very convenient. Easy access to restaurants, shopping and Chateau.
Car Parking was convenient and so was the postion of the hotel. The restuarant was expensive and poor quality by comparison
Happy that the reception staff spoke English and were helpful in booking taxis and advising re local information. I did not like the fact that I was unable to get any food before 7 p.m. in the hotel or in fact in the town. I had been travelling all day and there was nowhere to eat anything. Even the hotel's room service was not available in the afternoon - not until 7 p.m.
Room (327) facing courtyard-very quiet despite city centre location.Excellent bed & opaque curtains-slept well. The air-conditioning was turned off.No fridge in room.Hot food not replenished at breakfast.
The location was good, and on Sunday morning there was a market outside.
staff where excellent
in the city centre noisy if room on the side of the street
Good location Car park is very difficult to use (very tight entrance, exit and little room).
We were only there to sleep a few hours, but it was a nice hotel. Breakfast was nice too. The young man at the desk was incredible! Very difficult to find even with the car navigator, hotel maps, map24 etc. If you don't know Caen, the minute you get in the city, call them on the phone, they speak English perfectly, and they'll guide you in.
The location, and the reception staff went beyond their duties to help us during the strike action.
very comfortable and the duty manager was extremely polite and very helpful very difficult to find even for residents who very kindly offered to escort us. Much clearer directions with greater information particularly about being able to use vehicle on pedestrian access
Spacious room, very friendly staff and secure parking
Very conveniently located and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff.
the constant helpfulness and charm of all the staff - they were always there to help. in fact we arrived one day early so had 4 nights and they were able to accommodate us - paid extra and had a deluxe room which was great. nothing at all
Facilities, staff and breakfast buffet all excellent. Initial approach to hotel by vehicle was ackward as it required us to drive down a bus/taxi only lane but once we figured that out, everything else was ease. On-site parking is available in a secure underground garage but it is limited so book ahead.
Quiet, parking possibility, very good situation
Hotel is clean, quiet and has very helpful staff
A high standard hotel in an excellent city centre location. Good parking.
Superb food and service
was wonderful and friendly. Diner was outstanding! too much rain...but I guess you cannot control
Outstanding food, excellent staff, wonderful atmosphere, good location. I first stayed here about 15 years ago and the level of service and quality of the food has been maintained with the same level of excellence and care - an outstanding tribute to the dedication and care of the management and staff at Le Dauphin.
Excellent location for town of Caen. Good for shopping. Parking a problem. Breakfast not good value for money. Nice hotel overall but for a 4 star rating needs a bit more. Bathroom very sparc with accessories, hair dryer very poor wall mounted. Bar expensive for drinks.
Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. Excellent location very close to old city centre, shops and restaurants. Wonderful buffet breakfast. The 'standard' room was a bit on the small side, but ok. We had enough room for the 2 of us.
The service overall was predominantly very good, especially at the restaurant. On arrival we came down for a drink after check in, we were kept waiting about 20 minutes before we were able to get a drink, I had to ask her her 3 or 4 times during that period,This was the only blip, the service thereafter was very good from the reception desk.
The Manager was very friendly and helpful. The location in Caen harbour is excellent. The rooms were clean and comfortable. No
Warm welcoming staff and a comfortable room at a low cost
The hotel Courtonne was in an excellent location for our 1 nights stay, nearby Resturants were very convenient, double room although very clean was small and it was a very small double bed, very friendly and helpful staff It is in a town, so noise of people having a party in nearby appartments could be heard into the early hours of the morning
free wi-fi, position
Bars / restaurants on both sides of the hotel = a significant amount of noise.
Town Centre Location was very good No parking, however public underground opposite
The behavior of the rep was very good. And they can speak English very well. I wish they serve only boiled egg at the breakfast.
One of the better hotels I have stayed in, it ticked most of the boxes. Clean,Friendly, Helpful, Location etc. The rooms were too hot, the air conditioning unit did not work it continually blew out heat.I switched it off and slept with the window open
central location, overlooking a square with trees and flowers
The room is in good sizeand internet is perfect no
Location, modern, clean no
Friendly staff,excellent location
excellent location, clean and modern and quiet
The staff were very helpful and the rooms were cleaned with fresh linen everyday. The hotel is very central and there is a short walk to shops, food, restaurants. Breakfast is reasonably priced and car parking opposite is also reasonably priced for 24hrs. It would have been nice for the hotel to have a restaurant for evening meals and a better bar area. The rooms lacked comfortable seating.
Proximity to the airport was important, we enjoyed the breakfast at the loby restaurant as well.
This was an ideal stay for a one night stop over with the kids (4&6) in the family room.
It was conviently located in the town near to the castle (although we were only passing through on business). It was also close to some excellent restaurants. Good budget hotel. For some reason it took ages to pay, and the hotel didn't accept American Express (although the receptionist didn't know this). We left before breakfast, so I cannot review it.
I liked that I was able to come and go from Hôtel Des Quatrans even late at night. It was also nice to be able to leave my luggage in the lobby before check-in and after check-out.
The hotel is centrally located, with restaurants and shopping close by. We used Caen as a stopover on our way south, and we found the location and town itself convenient. Free parking was a nice perk, as the town seemed quite heavily congested. Rooms were spartan but clean, and beds relatively comfortable. Quite a lot of noise from the bar (we were situated on the ground floor) but this did stop at 10pm. Breakfast buffet small but adequate.
Pleasant and friendly atmosphere. Safe storage for our bikes. Helpful staff. Our 4th visit there.
The location of this hotel is very convenient. The bathroom was big, bigger than the room which seemed a bit strange. I think the photos of the room on the Internet do not really reflect the actual quality of the rooms in general. I saw two rooms and both were much shabbier than the photographed room. There was cigarette burns in the bed cover and the bed itself needed replacing. I have stayed in other two star places on my trip and they have been much better than this for the same money. I was disappointed that the hotel information was so misleading.
Ideal location for Central Caen, close to the shops, resturants and nightlife but not so close to interupt the peace and quiet of the hotel, bar was open late and provided a nice atmosphere for us and some wwII vets to have a drink and chat Unable to meet of request for twin rooms but understood for the period
It was located in the heart of Caen, only a minutes walk from the centre. The bathroom door was a bit strange. The door has a see through glass panel so you could see anybody who just happened to be sat on the toilet!
Rooms were clean and though small and basic, were comfortable and what we expected for two stars. The shower was good. The associated restaurant next door was superb. The breakfast buffet was, again, basic but nice. Our room got the afternoon sun, which might be nice in the colder weather, but was sweltering in the summer heat, without fan or air conditioning.
Good location near city center and shopping streets. Close to the tram that comes from the train station. Close to the bus stop that goes to the Caen Memorial. It's definitely a budget hotel - nothing fancy. My first room had a weird smell and also the wifi did not work. I was moved to a room on the ground floor which was a bit better.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. The hotel is clean and comfortable and our bathroom was fantastic with a wonderful bath. We really enjoyed our stay and wuld recommend the hotel to others.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was not very big but big enough with a good sized bathroom - no shower but a shower head on the bath. The hotel is at the port and we had a very of it from the room. Not too far from the train station
The staff were friendly and efficient. As I said above, the staff were friendly and efficient but I drove past the hotel at first because the place is so dark and not very welcoming. The twin room and toilet on the 2nd floor smelt and felt damp and the bathroom was bit of an afterthought. This hotel needs some money spending on it to bring it into the 20th century let alone the 21st. If the wife had been with me I would have left and gone somwhere else. Also, at e50 per night it is very expensive for a single traveller and e7 for a bread and jam breakfast is over the top. However, in it's favour a lot of the other hotels in the area don't look any better. My room overlooking the port unfortunately meant I was kept awake half the night by singing drunks and fat girls standing in the road trying to do a belly dance. Gruesome. Thought I was back in Hull. Sorry, and it's no reflection on the staff but I won't be going back.
My parents came over to visit us in Europe, my dad wanted to go to Omaha and Utah Beach, the hotel is very close to both so it was a great location and for what we paid per night the hotel was great.
Location was fantastic, walk to sights and restaurants, parking avaliable opposite hotel. Lovely Port view.
As in many other cities in France, the service in the hotel makes you forgive them some other things. Nikolas advised us everything we need and even exceeded our expectations in his hospitality and willing to communicate in good English. Seems we had the smallest room (203 if I am not mistaken), but with biggest bathroom (we've rechecked on evacuation plan). Everything was veeery simple, but clean and cosy, the price is fair. The street wasn't too noisy, hence I slept well for 2 nights we spent there, that is very important. WiFi worked well. Breakfast was tasty. The room was slightly claustrofobic at first sight, but that wasn't a big deal for us. important for drivers - parking is not private and can't be reserved. It is in front of the hotel, but public and between 3 and 10 pm it can be really hard to find a place. But you should just "hunt" it for 5-10 minutes and most probably somebody will leave. There are other parkings in 5 minutes: open near marina and also underground under chateau, but I don't know the price.
Staff really nice and helpful, perfect location on the port and 2 min walk from the main center. A bit noisy at night, but bear in mind the place is in the main center, surrounded by bars and pubs.
We were very late but the staff were there for us when we arrived. The beds were comfy and breakfast was very good value for money - hot chocolate was fab! Central location.
Good location Rooms quite small. Lobby/Reception area also small.
Right in the middle of town by the pedestrian zones! The staff was very very helpful and friendly, and they told us where to go and what to see in Normandy, and where the best museums were. Great hotel, great price!
The owners were very helpful. The location is perfect, parking is just down the street. Easy walking to restaurants and local sights. The rooms are very comfortable. A breakfast room is always nice, but it is rather enjoyable to have breakfast in bed (served to your room) every once in a while. My poor Dad had to lug my suitcase up the stairs as there is no elevator.
The location The owners being really rude and not informing at arrival of really noisi building work from 9am on week days
hotel very central, excellent value for money
good value for money no complaints
Great location in centre of Caen. No private parking but can park on street free after shops close or in nearby car parks. We parked at the nearby port/marina for just 3 Euros from mid-afternoon to the following morning. Received warm welcome at reception with local map offered without asking.
Location and value for money Decor could do with updating
It is located very close to the tram. Staff very friendly and helpful. I liked to have had the breakfast at my room at the time I indicated.
The people running it were great
friendly service, quiet room
The great value - proximity to city centre (places of interest and shopping area) and the ferry bus stop - very close to the hotel. Great value for money for 1 night stay
Reasonable prices no
the location was excellent! the staff were very helpful and friendly. i didnt have breakfast but my friends who had it enjoyed it very much!
Nice staff, good breakfast, great location no
Staff exceptionally helpful, happily found spaces for our bikes and were very informative over things to see and places to eat. Breakfast slightly disappointing - the addition of some ham and cheese would have made all to he difference.
Small very central budget hotel an easy tram ride from the station. All sights within walking distance. Friendly staff and good value for this price. No lift so had to carry case up 4 floors. Walls between rooms very thin. Breakfast basic.
Very friendly staff. Convenient location, right off the guided bus line. Needs blackout curtains on the street, since the lights shine through the window all night.
Great location. Very friendly staff. Hotel needs some work, but if you are used to traveling in Europe, it is right on par.
Very central location, comfortable room, everything worked in the room The handle of the door from the stairs to the landing came off in my hand in the evening so I reported it at reception. It appeared to have been repaired later, but when I came out next morning it was lying on the floor. I mentioned it at reception again and the response was 'C'est normal.'
the only thing i liked was the location of the hotel it was close to most facilities and local for shopping we stayed at bernieres and was very dissappointed they staff could not speak any english there were no facilities for tea making there was no privacy when using the toilet in your room you had to be best of friends to share
Very friendly staff, great location, good value. Downside was no lift but great hotel / Location centrale, tres amicale, pas trop cher. Recommandé No lift / pas d'ascenseur
Staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Well appropriate for the money, but if have opporunity better to pay more and choose hotel which more close to the sea. it will take you about hour to get to the sea and almost 11\2 to get to Douiville.
There were adequate beds in the room. Breakfast was flexible. Centre of town.Shower good. Looked after our bags for a few hours. Well heated. On 5th floor no lift. Noises all night from adjoining rooms.....slamming doors......people coming and going. Other guests ? were sat on the staircase. Breakfast we had to wait for croisants for ages to be ready.
