Not open when arrived for pick upCons: I phoned to say that i would arrive just after 11pm abd was that a problem. I was told by Staff at Enterprise Aberdeen Airport that although they shut at 11pm someone would wait. I arrived to find everything shut. I needed a taxi and then return the next day. I was told my car was not there but a similar would be found. I thought the JUKE was slightly small for the size i ordered.
Pros: The car and the drive was spectacular.Cons: Everything was perfect.

Good people, great carsPros: The car was clean, the selection of makes was really nice - BMW/Volvo/Mini, etc. Unlike the Avis/Budget, there were no hidden charges, either.Cons: Driving on the other side of the road than I'm used to? Seriously, there weren't any major hassles. The charges were explained fully from the beginning, so there wasn't anything unexpected.

Great servicePros: Quick service thst got me in ang out in good time. Explained everything I asked and showed me what I needed.
Pros: All of the staff I spoke to were very friendly and helpful.Cons: With a one-way rental, we had never been to the Stena terminal before and on google maps it’s very confusing where the Hertz return location is. Even after phone confirmation with the Hertz rep on site we were unsure where to park because there are ZERO signs that say car rental, Hertz, etc.

Car rental from Glasgow instead of AberdeenPros: The car was compact, comfortable, and clean. Overall it was the right car for our vacation. At Glasgow airport Hertz, the younger woman at the pick-up and drop off was very nice and helpful, regardless of the trouble the other member of staff made.Cons: Although we called ahead to Hertz in Glasgow from Dublin airport about switching our pick-up location (due to delays and missed flights) which would be "no problem at all", they seemed to have nothing available when we got there. When they finally found a vehicle similar to our initial order, we felt like there were A LOT of added/hidden costs. The person helping us out was rude, and we seemed like an inconvenience. When we got to the car at the lot, about to load it, another member of staff claimed we were taking the wrong vehicle (which we were not) and continued to the lot-office to check. I later followed as we didn't understand what the issue was. Other staff also didn't understand what the problem was, so after some deliberation on her side she exclaimed "whatever, just tell her it's fine... Just let them take it!" Some of the staff should've handled the situation better by communicating with both the colleagues and clients. The explanation of the rental agreement should not be done rudely, and the pick-up/drop-off staff member handled the situation quite poorly.
july in scotlandPros: great car.Cons: too many undisclosed add-ons. felt like death by a hundred cuts.

No car was actually availableCons: When I arrived, I was informed that the prior customer had returned the car wrecked and there was no other car available for me to drive. There was also no other rental car available at any other rental company nearby. Needless to say, this caused major havoc for my intended vacation plans (which involved driving to 3 other cities in the area), and ended up costing me 3x as much on trains/buses and having to change plans for hotels. One of the guys at the customer service desk did his best to help (allowing me to use their phone for international calls, etc.), while shortly after the other kicked me out of their small waiting area, where I was using wifi to rearrange my plans, because other customers were on their way in. I won't be using them again.

3 rentals and counting!Pros: Quick service, great prices, speedy and friendly!
Cons: Was very disappointed with booking a "Premium Class" car through this service - Website stated a "Mercedes C Class or similar". An extremely basic Volkswagen Golf was the car we received on arrival at the Avis counter. Fitting a family and luggage into this car was awful. Extremely disappointed.

There is hardly a better way to explore the eastern coastline of Scotland and all the attractions of Aberdeen – such as the Maritime Museum or the Art Gallery – or the inner Scottish countryside than by renting a car. Benefit from the flexibility and a sense of freedom when visiting the coastal city when you get your own hire car.
Aberdeen Airport is located about six and a half miles from the heart of Aberdeen and travelers can rent a car directly from there to be in the city in about twenty minutes. There are various onsite car hire agencies of internationally renowned companies like Avis, Hertz, and Europcar, to name a few.
In Aberdeen, like the rest of the UK, cars drive on the left side of the road, plus the steering wheel is on the right-hand side of the car. Travelers who are not used to this should consider renting a GPS system with the car, as it makes it easier to navigate on the other side of the road. Remember to enter roundabouts clockwise and be extra attentive at intersections.
Peak times in Aberdeen are usually around 6-9 am and 4-7 pm in Aberdeen during the week, and traffic can increase dramatically with waiting hours sometimes as long as 1 hour. Try to avoid these times for driving if possible and find ways through little alleys and streets rather than bit arterial roads like the A96, for instance.

As Aberdeen is located in the north, it is wise to rent a 4-wheel-drive car, especially when visiting during the winter. Parking and traffic can be challenging in the city, so opt for a smaller car if possible, as it can fit into more parking spaces and will also need less petrol – which can get pretty expensive in Europe and the UK.
Even though the rest of European countries uses the metric system, in the UK the imperial system prevails to some extent and speed limits are given in miles per hour. Bear in mind that the posted signs are on the left side of the road. General regulations permit 30 mph in residential areas, but it goes down to 20 mph around schools. 50 mph is permitted on rural roads and up to 70 mph on freeways (called motorways in the UK and usually marked with an “M”).
Although the UK never fully adopted the metric system, petrol is measured in liters, so bear that in mind when refilling the tank and checking prices. The average price for one liter of petrol is around £1.20 ($1.52, which is $6.08 per gallon). Payment can be done by cash or card at the machines or the counter after refilling the tank.
On-street parking in Aberdeen is usually time restricted and metered, with a fee of around £1 ($1.27) per 20 minutes. There are also various parking lots and garages available, some of which are even free of charge. The Denburn, Chapel Street, or Frederick Street parking lots, for instance, can be used without paying a fee after 5pm.
