Be careful! This location takes advantage of weary travelers and upsells insurance. I stepped away to get coffee for our long drive after a red eye flight. My husband didn’t know I had already purchased ample 3rd party insurance, plus we are covered by our regular insurance. The pushy sales guy bullied him into 400euros worth of extra insurance—told him it wasn’t optional. When I returned to learn what happened and argued with the guy, he told me it was too late to refund. Terrible! Do not book here.

It is a gimmick when you rent a car from Budget, through a 3rd party (Kayak) and you purchase insurance but are then told by Budget that it really doesn't exist through a 3rd party and would need to pay Budget upfront for any damage, then issuing the claim to the insurance you did purchase, for reimbursement. If you purchase insurance you should have non-complicated insurance for your rental. I then had to purchase insurance with Budget again in order to not have difficulties should a problem arise. Also, NOTHING IN THE INFORMATION informed that my passport was needed for the rental. The information specifically said, Driver's License & the Credit Card used to rent the car. I was again told by the Budget agent, that is a 3rd party issue about the information given. Wait times at the counter were too long, as well.

The car class we reserved was “unavailable” and we were forced to upgrade to a car that resulted in us paying more than double for the rental. I am very disappointed that instead of enjoying activities and meals, we had to blow our budget on a car from Budget. I don’t know how to avoid this or what we did wrong but a $900 surprise is not a nice way to start off a vacation. The car itself was great, and their service was otherwise great but this is a common occurrence which in my view can be avoided. If the company doesn’t have the class we reserved, they should give us the upgrade at no cost as it isn’t the customer’s fault the car they reserved months in advance isn’t there when they arrive.

The pick up was the worst experience in all years that I rent cars in so many different countries, including Portugal. There was another attendant that was extremely rude to me as well as to a couple that was there facing some problems. He shouted to me and after did not answer my question. Very rude person. The young guy that was attending me was very polite but he was lost in the procedures... it took him over 30min to finalize the process, he also gave me wrong information that I just found out when I returned the car. Very bad experince!

The time I took to fill out all of the registration in advance was no where to be found at the time of the pickup. This made the process slow and frustrating. The rate expected was also wrong. They just seemed to want to force a different plan than the one that had been purchased and expected.

The pickup location was incorrectly stated in the instructions. After pre-regestering online, the instructions told you to to to the car pickup spot in terminal 2. But when you got to car pickup, they told you to go to terminal 1 to finish registering before you can pick up the car. After doing that, the car still took about 1-2 hours to pickup, after the agreed upon time. The staff was nice and the car was nice. But the pickup instructions were wrong and I was not notified of the expected wait beforehand.

Pick up and drop off from the airport were very simple. We were slightly under the charge threshold on our electric car on return, but the employee was gracious and did not charge us for it. A very kind gesture! The car was brand new (only had 20 km on it) and sparkling clean.

We waited in line for close to 2 hours to pick up our reserved vehicle at Lisbon Airport. That's just from when we pulled a number to when we walked out to get into the car. That's not at all what we would expect from a major rental company. The staff, once we got to the counter, was great. Polite and patient. The car was great - like new condition, clean, comfortable. The rate seemed reasonable for what we got.

The pick-up and drop-off staff in Lisbon and Porto were lovely. The car had a manual transmission, which was fine, but for some reason the cruise control was disabled or not optioned at order for this vehicle, so we had no cruise control for our 2 week road trip around Portugal. This made the drives a lot more tiring and not as fun.

We had an overall great experience renting from Drive on Holidays. Our car was awesome (clean, barely used, etc.) and the nice woman who helped us was sweet. I had read reviews prior to renting from this company and was a tad concerned, but we had no issues that would keep us from renting from them again. The only downfall in our experience was that we waited at least two hours in line at pick up and that pushed our first day back a bit. It is true that they have you put down a $3,600 (maybe it was euros?) deposit, which I thought was pretty intense and had never experienced before but eh, we had no issues.

The pickup directions were terrible. Info came from car rental app, so it’s hard to tell if it was Drive on Holidays fault or the rental car app that was the issue. They sent a pickup address that was at some residential Apartment complex. Tried calling but no one picked up. After some digging on the internet I found the closest pickup center near the airport in hopes it was the correct location. I was lucky that it was, because if you’re late they typically give your reserved car to the next person. I spent a bunch of money on two xl Ubers trying to find the pickup location… very ironic Once I finally got there, the service was fine and the process was smoother.

Very good value and quality/ price ratio. Staff was friendly, attentive to any questions, changes or issues through the entire process. Fairly easy shuttle and airport access to Lisbon International. Not the fastest , but okay - plan and allow extra time though !!! Pay attention for extended rental time!!!. The fees are hefty, to say the least

I booked through Enterprise specifically to avoid the well-known predatory damage practices in Portugal, but unfortunately I still ended up with exactly that. At drop-off, the agent claimed extremely minor cosmetic marks on the plastic hubcaps were “damage” and charged €439.08. The behaviour was consistent with the typical Portuguese rental-car damage scam: • the agent repeatedly asked if I had insurance before even looking at the car • he refused to mark the damage on the inspection diagram and told me I could draw it myself • he would not clearly show how the alleged marks differed from the faint areas visible in my pickup video • he would not state the cost of the charge until we were inside the small office • the “damage” itself was tiny, superficial cosmetic wear that no major rental company would normally charge for • I filed a written dispute with Guerin on the same day and received no acknowledgment or response nearly a week later. Additionally, the pickup process was extremely slow. The self-check-in computer failed multiple times, the system was reset twice, and I had to wait a long time in the queue after it crashed again. I chose Enterprise to avoid exactly this type of experience, and I’m very disappointed.

Was assured by the gentleman at the counter that this would not be an issue if I returned the next day by the drop off time had provided. I was subsequently charged for a second day and no one at the company followed up with my dispute inquiries.

We showed up at the dollar location which was run by hertz, who insisted on selling us a different more expensive package as they did not honor the one we purchased online from dollar, including the insurance. The same thing was happening at the two counters next to ours. It was a take it or leave it situation. It’s a scam, never again

It was okay. There are lots of hidden charges like a $3000 deposit despite that I bought insurance from kayak which they at tangerine had no record of. Then exit to the building in a parking garage is a 4 -5 point turn and in a new car that took a $3000 deposit it secretes an immense amount of cortisol. The staff are very nice the car wasn’t at all what I ordered or wanted. I wanted to be high off the ground in an SUV and they gave me a low car with low profile tires causing me even more stress as they are easily damaged.

They had way too many hidden charges that more than doubled the cost of rental. First, my car wasn't available, so I had to pay extra to upgrade. The gas tank was at 7/8 when I picked up the car, and when I returned at the same level, they charged 60 euro to refill 1/8 of tank. There's also a 36 euro charge on my credit card that I never got a receipt for. I will not rent from them again
