The A/C was broken and the "check engine light" came on while driving to the hotel. We called Budget and they said my husband could return the car even though it was in my name. When he got back to the airport, they would not exchange it without me. So he had to drive all the way back to the hotel in the broken down car to get me! They should look at the cars before they release them and their internal communication should be consistent! Easy things for them to correct and prevent extensive hassle for customers like us!

I rented a car, and was texted right before I was supposed to pick it up, that there were no cars available. A team member helped me move my reservation to another location, only for us to drive an hour there, and be told there were no cars available either. A very big waste of time, and disappointing customer service experience

If your company doesn't honor same-day reservations, why on earth do you make it possible to make same-day reservations online? It made a stressful flight cancelation situation even worse than it needed to be. I won't be using Hertz again.

Moe, in Nashville was a big help. It was the ending of a long day when I got to the hertz kiosk. I was at the gold membership zone (I’m not a gold member) and instead of sending me back into the airport, Moe took care of me. He was quick and efficient and friendly. Everything was perfect with the car but it was out of washer fluid.

I prepaid for my car rental for a one way and when I got there they charged me another $150 and a deposit. I was only needing it for one day and I feel like it was too expensive. I hate how they hit with extra fees when you go to pick up your rental.

When I got my final receipt they charged me for a fill up @ 10.99 per gallon and I returned it full. Then trying to get the charges reversed was a nightmare, they said thy reversed charges so we will see how that goes.

The following is not necessarily the fault of Kayak. With this above said, this was my worst car experience I’ve had with any rental company. This vehicle was not safe to be driven. It has a lot of mechanical issues with over 70,000 miles. This is not normally a problem for a Toyota, but it is clearly evident that this vehicle has not been maintained for the last year. The sticker on the windshield leads me to believe the oil has not been changed for over 30,000 miles. The tires are going bald and the car needs new brakes. The alignment is off kilter and the steering wheel had to be turned 20-30 degrees to the left in order to keep the car straight. I have already attempted to contact dollar on this matter because this was the first time I felt unsafe driving a car that was not mine. Aside from that the vehicle was fuel efficient and if they fix the car, it should last many more years.

Car was given to us dirty and then once it rained, it turned muddy. We had to pull off the highway and clean all the windows in order to see out clearly. The inside needed to be vacuumed and there were no floor mats.

I made a reservation specifically for a Ford Transit passenger van and Dollar Car Rental tried to give me a Honda Odyssey mini van, which does not have nearly enough space as we needed. So I cancelled the reservation and went with a different rental company who had the vehicle I needed and also ended up spending less money.

They would only give an EV. I can’t drive EV. QEEQ did not refund. Should have been clearer when booking that “mystery car” could be EV. No car and no refund. The worst booking ever.

The Avis system was down and we were unable to pick up our rental. The Avis airport staff were not helpful. We had to call Avis ourselves to cancel the rental. We were charged the full price and then refunded only a portion of the fees. They owe us $100. We’ve not been able to get a complete refund as the Avis telephone team couldn’t locate our reservation to help! Absolutely the poorest customer service in the airport and with their telephone and chat teams.

My experience with Avis was horrible. There was a deposit policy that wasn’t clearly stated and the money couldn’t be split between 2 credit cards. They didn’t accept cash or debit cards, making my reservation obsolete. When I asked the clerk if there was anything I could do, he seemed to take a little pleasure in telling me there was nothing he could do. Instead of being stranded in Nashville with an Avis reservation I couldn’t redeem, I went across to Enterprise and rented a nice vehicle through them with no deposit on the spot. I would never rent through Avis because there are too many strict rental restrictions that make a recreational traveler inconvenienced.

The first car had drugs, some white powder substance. I only found one individual baggie but that was enough. It took a while to get exchanged. I did get another SUV and got it home to realize the key fob was slowly dying. Over the course of four days, it got to the point where I couldn’t lock or unlock the vehicle and it wouldn’t recognize the key fob while driving. I had to exchange it. I take it an hour back to the airport. They try to put another battery in it and that doesn’t work. So it’s something computer related with the fob. They say, “No problem, we will exchange it.” Great! I got another vehicle and it worked out. However, when I turned in the final vehicle I got a bill for a transfer fee and a few other fees I already paid with the original purchase. The problems here are, the drugs cost me a lot of time and they weren’t even going to compensate me at all. They ended up just giving me a voucher. The key fob issue was a huge inconvenience because I was going camping so I got the car very early so I could pack based on the vehicle I got. I did that. I packed everything. I was ready to go and couldn’t lock or unlock the car. I can’t go on a camping trip with something like that! It’s not safe or reasonable. It delayed my trip by about five hours. I had to unpack the SUV and repack it, with no help from the rental car company. The worst part was they charged me for a transfer but not until I returned the final vehicle.

The car was from Florida, the tires have +42K miles on them, Kentucky get lots of rain, the low tread depth is not adequate in moderate to heavy rainfall (hydroplaning). Ok for more miles in climate area like Arizona. I have lots of driving experience with various tires in extreme weather conditions these type of tires are not safe for this climate region in the fall.
