Cons: Car had NY plate on front and FLA plate on tear
Not sure that is legal and it sure gave me heart failure when I was looking for my car in a crowded parking lot!

Avis does not have integrity!!!!!
Pros: The rental cost me a great price, $24.98 and then they charged me $42.00 for gas. I asked at the office when picking up the rental if there were gas stations around the airport to refuel. I was told there plenty. News flash, not one gas station near the airport to refuel. They took advantage of my unfamiliarity of the Fort Lauderdale area. Their business practice was not honest and very unfair! Mind you, I only used a little more than 1/4 tank of gas in a Toyota Yaris.
Pros: Very nice and helpful staff. Cared about honoring the price I booked online, and made an effort to ensure it was correct. Clean, nice car.
Cons: They closed at noon, and that was the time I was given for pickup. I was in earlier than that, but others were not. To the agents' credit, they were there with me and others till after their closing time without complaint.
I feel like the assigned noon pickup time was a glitch on kayak rather than Hertz, and the Start agents totally rolled with it and didn't chastise the customers for it.

Read the fine print...
Pros: Car was as promised and clean and new.
Cons: We were vacationing in south Florida for ten days and planned a short trip to Orlando during that time. My husband asked about the SunPass which pays the tolls for the Florida Turnpike automatically and was told by the Hertz agent checking us out that it cost $4.95, plus the cost of our tolls. Well, it turns out that it cost $4.95 per day, EVERY day of our rental, even the eight days we weren't on the Turnpike. Now, part of this is user-error--the policy was stated in the fine print of our rental agreement. But our agent, either through ignorance or through an attempt to run up the costs provided us with the wrong information and that really rubs me the wrong way.

Terrible- car was rented for the wrong location
Cons: I searched Kayak for Rental Car for West Palm Beach, and for some unknown Kayak set me up with a car in Stuart, Florida. I assumed that this was near the airport and just happened to have a different town name. So I get to Hertz near WPB airport and they tell me that my car is in Stuart, Florida which apparently is an hour away. So I had to call Hertz customer service and after being on hold with them for approx an hour it was determined that if I were to change rental locations the cost would go from $90 for the weekend to $400. I cancelled and incurred a $50 cancellation fee. I realize I am partially (maybe fully) to blame and should have double checked the location, etc by honestly didn't think that they would rent me a car to a location that is so far from where I searched. Makes no sense. The whole experience was a sour start to my vacation. I am finding that I don't like going through 3rd party sites such as Kayak, Expedia to make my arrangements bc lately they just seem to make this more complicated and I think I will probably go back to making arrangements directly with airlines, car rental companies, etc. it costs more but is worth saving me from this type of hassle and headach.
