Parking was expensive
Great location in Copenhagen. Close to shops, restaurants and other sites. Clean and historic style hotel. Plentiful buffet breakfast.
The location of the hotel is very safe (near foreign embassies and the royal palace), on the waterfront facing the opera house, and close to wonderful restaurants. The buffet breakfast is great. The structure of the building was built in 1600 or 1700's as huge warehouse, The some large vertical beams are, unfortunately, in the middle of the guest rooms. The hallways feature long rows of brick arches. Have stayed in this hotel 4 times. Would be happy to stay there again despite somewhat high prices. The equipment stored between the hallway arches somewhat detracts from the ambience.
This is an iconic hotel on water in the very center of the city. Ofelia Plads is right next to the hotel (with tango on weekend nights in the summer). The breakfast buffet is one of the best I have seen (but it can get crowded if you go there at a wrong time). The rooms with windows facing the street, as opposed to water, are less nice and noisier.
The architecture is a great mix of old world and contemporary. The wood ceiling and support beams in the guest rooms and the brick arches down the center of the hallways make this a one of a kind location. Not a lot of dining options. The brunch buffet was a bit pricey.
The location was good. Mold in the bathroom, tiny windows, dungeon like feel walking to the rooms. Musty smell, overall dirty. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
We really liked the location in proximity to restaurants and sightseeing. Also the decor/look and feel was nice with the brick walls and old beams. Very comfortable and spacious compared to other Copenhagen properties. The staff was just okay.
The location was excellent, near canals and cafes and the concierge staff was very helpful. My room had beams that kept me from easily getting out of bed, and I hit my head badly on one just sitting down in the chair. My phone had been turned off by the prior occupant, and so I missed my wakeup call. The maids should have looked for that and restored service so that didn't happen.
Beautiful rough hewn, 12" x 12" beams throughout; multiple skylights with custom coverings; easy access to taxis. See above
cool hotel in good location with friendly and efficient front desk staff. Close to great shopping and good sites. Easy to get to from public transit. The hallways to the rooms sort of ruin the "luxury" impression of the hotel. The thick walls of the original structure run right through them, so they're difficult to navigate and closed in. I think some people would like the mystique of it, so depends on your view of that sort of thing.
Easy to find your way back to. Not far from food and shops. A neat place to stay, wish we had the time to stay longer. Corner of the bed sticking out where you bump your shin and trip as you pass through the room. A bit narrow between furniture and bed.
This was brilliant, the staff were fabulous, we really enjoyed our stay.
The central place with a nice wiew That the breakfast not was included in the roomprice
Friendly staff, good location very small room with basic bathroom
The location and the athomsfear, the old wherhouse style. There was no gymn and sauna.
The building was interesting.
Very good place Many time stay in the hotel
I loved the location, which is perfect for many good restaurants and bars along with the extensive luxury shopping theat CPH has to offer. My original superior single room was far from superior. Couldn't swing a cat in the room and the wet room, not bathroom or shower room, was really tired. Fortunately the extremely helpful staff were able to transfer me to a better, larger room. Overall I think the whole hotel needs a seriousl amount of money spent on updating the rooms.
The location and atmosphere are great. The bar area is a bit uninviting, as is the breakfast room, both in the basement. The lounge area is OK but nothing special.
Location / Reception area The rooms were small, no A/C and very hot, the bathroom was incredibly small, there are much nicer better value hotels in Copenhagen.
comfort location and atmosphere nothing
Location. Bathroom too small and no place for the shower.
The Location and value for $.
Perfect location nearby Nyhavn. Small room.
Excellent location Noisy ventilation in the room without possibility to turn off.
Charming hotel, superb location, friendly staff, cute room. Ridiculously overpriced breakfast (c. $30). There are several cafés in the area and you're better off going to one of them.
room had to be cleaned again after check in. This is unacceptable.
Central location Very small room and bed
? Small breakfast rooms, small rooms
Very clean and modern. Room was very small, though.
Great location and décor. The renovations are nice and the staff were very courteous and helpful One of the elevators was a bit slow and the bathroom was a bit cramped as the door hit the sink.
If your room is around the main courtyard, you will hear crashing noises that keep you awake all night.
my flight on SAS 5/21 was cancelled due to Pilots strike so it was impossible for me to honor my res.at Hotel Neptune on 5/22. I called kayak to arrange refund and was assured that this would happen and you would call me back to confirm. As of today I have yet to hear back from you. Please let me know when I can expect to see the refund on my CC. If you need further documentation regarding the flight cancellations and pilots strike I can provide though I would assume you know about it since that is your business. Regards Jimmy Galle
Great location, good price-quality, but definitely not up to 4 star standards, a good 3 stars. The room was nice and tidy but nothing special, no luxury. Good bed and a great hairdryer, though! The hotel was a bit run-down, needs upgrading. Breakfast arrangements were chaotic and the food was plain. The evening buffet was ok, but not very necessary. No shampoo or conditioner.
Location is great for city centre. It is just far enough away to be reasonably quiet at night as Copenhagen has many bars/nightclubs/raves, etc and can get rowdy. This is a repeat stay for me at Phoenix. be aware that "Superior room" in Europe is not same as expectations in North America. This would be a tight squeeze for 2 people but I knew that
Central position Breakfast service was 'average'
Internet network was not very strong, Breakfast buffet was very weak compared to other hotel that I stay at in Copenhagen.
The room was clean. I use the wake-up call facility in the morning. On the two days, the wake-up calls were required as I would have continued to sleep !. The breakfast was fine. On this occasion, my wife did not accompany me so I did not dine in the hotel in the evening. PLease note that I stayed in the hotel previously, it is close to the EEA building where I had my meeting and my head office ma\de the booking on the internet. From a point of energy efficiency, it may be more efficient to keep guests in one side of the hotel and to have separate heating arrangements for each floor/side of the building and thus heat teh section immediately required.
Large television in the room and the bathroom was clean. The breakfast has everything you could need. The room is small for how much we paid.
Excellent area; near city centre. Good size room. Nice breakfast. Very dated. Hairdryer faulty. Shower faulty. My room backed straight on to a washing up room, so v. noisy. No air conditioning.
The easy access this hotel has to many of the sites that are to be seen in Copenhagen. This hotel is only worth it, if you wish to have easy access to everything. I would not recommend staying at this hotel if individuals wish to have a nice hotel experience. My wife and I realized it was not worth staying at this hotel. We did not like that the rooms were way too small. The rooms portrayed online and through the websites make the rooms appear bigger than they are. It was hard for my wife and I to move around and we only had backpacks with us. The bathroom was another story and we hated it. The bathroom floor is literally one floor where you stand on which you shower, go bathroom, and use the mirror. The toilet holder was barely holding onto the wall and fell off a couple times and the towel holders were in the same condition.
The breakfast room was understaffed when we came there about an hour before closing time
Service, location, room as such No aircondition!!!
Nothing special, it was ok. Breakfast was good. Not well insulated for the noise. Towels were hard, pillows reaaly bad.
Staff was fairly attentive but somewhat inflexible. Room carpet seemed dusty, rooms are quite small, cannot control heat so it got a bit cold, nearly unusable wifi in the room.
Very freindly and helpful staff- excellent breakfast and central location.
Location Breakfast buffet Too close between windows of rooms for rooms with inside view to atrium.
Very nice hotel staff The double bed was uncomfortable
Good value for the money and good location for my use. No.
They serve an amazing breakfast! The staff is very friendly and eagerly helpful. My room was just fine although a better reading light would have been useful. Good place to stay. Some complain that it's not very central, but it's about half way between the Little Mermaid and Tivoli, and very close the Nyhaven. And it's quiet. Location was great, in my opinion.
The hotel staff was very friendly and efficient. no.
Location, literally just around the corner of Nyhavn
Good location, close to Nyhavn and the main shopping area. Friendly staff, ok breakfast. Strange smell in my room, either from renovation or from pesticide... Tiny TV-set.
The proximity to the city and key locations is an important criteria for chosing Hotel City. Size of the rooms was too small and did not reflect what seemed to be the size in the pictures on website. Also the price of the rooms were just not value for money.
The location - the hotel is close to the waterfront and it was easy to walk to the Little Mermaid, the site of the old Kastell and the main Stroget shopping street.
The location is very good and the room is okay,
Breakfast was not available due to unavailability of the hotel chef...
The view. One day it had not been cleaned. Another day I was promised a bycicle which was given to sombody else and my plan for that day was destroyed!!
Easy atmosphere / friendly personell / food choise was ok
very good position
Always nice cosy rooms, wonderful beds. Just downtown, but in the luxurious quiete part just by the water, Love this hotel They have taken away breakfast in the room and the espresso possibility in the morning.. only american coffee.
The location is perfect. Pretty big room. Very good breakfast While we were staying there was some sort of construction on the roof. They made a cargo elevator on the back of the building. So each morning we wre woken up with terrible sounds at 8 a.m. in the moning. We asked for extra bed in reservation comments, but it was not there when we arrived, so the kid had to sleep in our bad 1st night.
Excellent hotel and staff. Excellent location.
Location Rooms are ridiculously small, especially when I know I didi not have the smallest one !
Very good location and the hotel staff was friendly. Very good breakfast
Central Location, very helpful and friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, pleasant well heated rooms, breakfast included with good attention to breakfast buffet being constantly refuelled, useful to have tea and coffee facilities all the time in the dining area which was much appreciated during the cold spell in Copenhagen . No restaurant or cafe if you did not want to get out on a cold or windy evening to get a meal. However there are several places for dining all around the hotel.
Location was fantastic. HORRIBLE INTERNET. Rooms were okay, not great. Didn't always feel super clean. Overall it just did not seem to match up to the price.
Centrally located to most of the sites and easy metro access. Nice to have tea available 24 hours a day especially on the cool and rainy days. Room was very small. We couldn't walk around the bed without having to go single file. Pretty bare bones for the cost of the room. They ran out of breakfast food 30 minutes before closing time on morning without making anymore for the quests.
good location and polite staff
The staff were very helpful and the hotel was very convenient for access to the centre of Copenhagen. The room was very small and basic with no facilities for tea and coffee although this was available in the dining room. The breakfast was limited.
Very helpful staff and excellent location.
Excellent location - close to metro station and tourist attractions; free wireless internet; very good breakfast Small room
Staff was very friendly and helpful The single room was very small, much smaller than I would have expected
friendliness of staff
is not the advantage of te hotel but the city, but everything is in walking distance:) breakfast is very poor, had to change room as window did not close, and they charged extra for the other room ,which actually looked at the canal...
Easy walking distance to the main shopping town and nice location on the river. There was no tea or coffee facilities provided in our room. However we were supplied with a Kettle and cups when we asked at reception.
The situation of the hotel was perfect for us, staying one night in Copenhagen. Everything was within a walking distance.
Good, We had room just above head door. It was a little noicy.
The city is great, hotel location close to busy restaurants, shops and bars There was left over food in the fridge from previous guests.
the hotel is in the centre of the city, so everything worth to be seen is at walking distance! it was preatty hot in our room, and it was impossible to breath with closed windows...
Nice sized room, clean, comfortable, decent facilities. Friendly staff. Close to Nyhaven and short walk to Metro, shopping, centre etc. Quieter part of town which meant peaceful nights. Excellent breakfast. Nothing
The location and the calm area Smoking in the lobby area
Location!! Nice size rooms for Europe.
excellent location, cleanliness of the room, good looking lobby, friendly staff our room was really very small, price was high a bit
I liked the location; near the central area, rooms well isolated; nearby rooms didn´t disturbe, staff friendly and helpful
Fantastic friendly staff
well decorated, good furniture, not air conditioned which I like, old fashioned exterior which is good, generaly low key and casual character which again I like. Not really
Excellent staff and beautiful rooms and facilities!
The staff was extremely helpful and very pleasant. They were always glad to provide information and recommendations for dining or attractions.
nearness to historic sites n/a
Warm friendly atmosphere and comfortable room. Being at the front of the hotel, got a fair bit of noise from the street.
Staff was helpful and friendly, choise of dishes for the breakfast was ok There was some strange smell in the room on the 4th floor and the sewage in the bath was not working properly
Great location, the room were large The room was a little tired
Fine hotel, nothing to complain about.
After the initial impression which was disappointing we found our stay to be pleasant. The beds were comfortable, breakfast was satisfying with a nice variety the location was good and the staff nice and helpful. The room and especially the bathroom could use some renovation
The hotel was great. The staff friendly and very helpful. We were traveling with my aunt who is in a wherlchair, the hotel is aces sable and the staff really helped make our stay comfortable. Rooms are good size and very comfortable even with a wheelchair. Breakfast was good with a large assortment of items. Location was great since it is near Rosenburg gardens and the metro. We walked all over the city from here with the wheelchair ! It was all good.
Excellent tv Didn't have a weigh scale so I could weigh suitcases to prevent extra fine at airport for overweight bags. ($20 investment). Two wake-up calls never happened, and I nearly missed my flight home. The clerk on desk couldn't answer me who pays for my flight home if I miss it because of his errors? Lastly, I didn't at all appreciate the maid walking in on me just as I had got out of the shower, even though I repeatedly shouted stop, and she kept coming into the room. Undertrained, I guess.
Like coming home in from the cold. Coffee and danish lovely.
close to city centre; breakfast was OK room: very small, unpleasant smell in bath room, washtable in shower moreover at six o'clock in the morning, one moved noisy charriots behind the hotel waking me up
Located close to Metro going to or from airport. Near center of town. Room was a little cramped.
Friendly staff upgraded the room to a suite, which was nice! Was a bit of a pain to get the suitcases up to the room (elevator only went up so far and had to walk the suitcase the rest of the way). Hotel is old but clean and spacious. Location was fantastic - close to metro and shopping.
Its location. Besides the loby area, the rest of the hotel is very tired.
Great position in good part of city - away from noisy areas and close walk to Stroedt, main shopping street, canal trips, theatre and nice walk to little mermaid. Very nice foyer, lounge and breakfast areas. Good breakfast continental style. Single room quite small but to be expected in better part of town.
Location Surly staff, small room...
I liked the location and the staff was very helpful and friendly at all times. The breakfast buffet was exellent and the room was clean. It would have been nice to have coffe and tea making facilities in the room
