10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is meticulously maintained, sparkling clean and fun! The staff was ever so friendly and helpful. Our room had great furnishings and a lovely view. I loved the heated bathroom floor, the robes, the snacks and the breakfast. All in all a wonderful stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, the hotel respected the good bones of the historic building, but updated the design so that it was modern and inviting. Great location, large, comfortable room, and responsive staff.
Cons: No complaints!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast, hot coffee always available, snacks Location was amazing Interior design and style was incredible! Every room was stunning
Cons: A few recommendations - Dim the lights slightly in the evening to make it more inviting Wine instead of just hard alcohol and mixers in the evenings! Would be great if you could offer reimbursement or passes to the nearby YMCA
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We went there for Salem's Halloween Happenings. The Merchant was within walking distance of every place we wanted to visit. It was warm, cozy and the attention to details was very impressive. The breakfast served in the morning was a welcome delight to get us on our day's adventures, and it was also a chance to socialize with some of the other guests (we met some really nice people!). Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Tommy and Tamara were the most friendly and helpful hosts we could have asked for. We will definitely be back! :o)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was amazing...staff were lovely Tommy and Tamara were fantastic and helpful. The coffee was great...location was perfect

Stepping Stone Inn - Salem - Building
2
9.5 Excellent (100 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Stepping Stone Inn, you'll be centrally located in Salem, steps from Salem Witch Museum and within a 5-minute walk of Peabody Essex Museum. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was as advertised. The Inn is as central as you could ask for. Easy walking distance to all the attractions. The owners are lovely with an interesting past.
Cons: Nothing really. It was a bit on the expensive side but you do pay a premium for a central location in Salem in October, the spookiest month of the year.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Personal bathroom for each room. They were a bit tight but to keep the rooms at a reasonable size, it wasn’t much of an issue. The ease of access to all the attractions in Salem. This place was simply the best, and parking was free too!
Cons: Some nights it did get a little stuffy or hot. We were able to use the fan they provided in the room though. The only other thing would be noise attenuation. You could hear through most the walls and floors because it’s an old house. Some insulation in the room demising walls and some floor sound mat could help with this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Matt’s coffee really made the breakfast. Excellent location.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We liked the location of the Inn. It is in walking distance of almost everything. The proprietors are very nice and knowledgeable of the town and the happenings.
Cons: The rain.
7.9 Good
Pros: The location is very convenient - it is 2 blocks from the visitor center and within easy walking distance of several museums and restaurants. It is right next to the Salem Witch Museum. The proprietor was very helpful and greeted us promptly when we arrived and provided lots of information about the area. He recommended a local restaurant and even provided coupons for a free dessert. We stayed in the Monterey room which was very comfortable and we did have a private bath also.
Cons: We were disappointed that a cooked breakfast was not included, although the proprietor explained that a restaurant license is required in order to provide this amenity. There were muffins and fruit/cheese provided, and this limitation is noted on their web page.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was more than expected. Coffee was amazing. The location was easy to find and in walking distance to all tourist attractions.
Cons: Nothing it was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The inn couldn’t be any closer to the center of everything. The accommodations were comfortable and the dining room each morning had 40’s and 50’s music playing. The living room has furniture where you can easily curl up with a good book and the beds guaranteed a good night’s sleep.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really friendly owners. Super clean rooms close to everything
Cons: Small bath rooms
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was very well located and the owners were friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was beautiful. The location is amazing. The owners were so friendly and accommodating. The breakfast in the morning was perfect. I will always stay at the inn when visiting Salem.

Cons: Housekeeping started really early ; we were woken by vacuuming and the staff knocking on nearby doors. I understand and appreciate their jobs but on the rare getaway we were able to sleep in -it would have been nice to be able to. I was even wearing earplugs. :(
7.0 Good

Cons: While the price was right, the hotel was rated 3 1/2 stars, should be 2 1/2. The room compared to a Hampton Inn, but the lobby and eating area was small and much more poorly appointed than a typical Hampton. You typically rate Hamptons 2 1/2 stars.

Pros: Helpful front desk, and housekeeping kept our room spotless. The robes in our room were a nice touch.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: All of the front desk people were so nice and polite! And the room was very clean and welcoming. We were in walking distance to almost anything we wanted to do.
Cons: Smoke free, as Massachusetts has legal marijuana we were not allowed to smoke on the property.
6.8 Good
Pros: Christmas decor was gorgeous and there were Christmas cookies and hot cider offered on entering. The whole lobby smelled of cinnamon which I found charming. Bathrooms offered an extensive number of amenities and bottled water and robes. We mostly enjoyed the restaurant as well. Location was great, could walk to the Salem walking tour and many historic attractions.
Cons: Check in was very slow and an elevator was broken giving off a constant beeping. My sirloin was undercooked, even after sending it back twice and it took minutes and my announcing myself to be seated for breakfast even though there was only one other customer. But most disappointing was the way my young adult son was questioned when he came back into the hotel in the morning after making a trip to the car. He was making a cup of coffee and front desk staff approached him accusingly, asking him to verify his room number to assure he was indeed a guest. He was shocked and offended.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great location, easy walking distance to a lot of what Salem has to offer. It was also nice to get out of Boston when we wanted to.
Cons: The heater in our room wouldn’t go above 64 when it was getting down to single digits at night. It took twice mentioning something to the front desk but they ended up putting a portable heater in our room. Ended working just fine for the rest of our stay.

Cons: None
8.6 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed here 3 times for kids sporting events, it's the only hotel in the area with an indoor pool. Plenty of shops, restaurants and museums within a short walking distance.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, convenient location..
Cons: Two double beds in the room..beds a little on the narrow side! A little bit lacking in character/atmosphere but fine for a quick stop in Salem. Breakfast additional.. not even coffee included when ordering same!

7.1 Good
Pros: Lovely hotel. Breakfast was nice. When I called to say I’d be checking in very late, their staff was very kind. I stayed in room 412.
Cons: At first glance the hotel looks very clean. After staying, I began to realize that the bathroom lacked attention desired. The floor was dirty, (food crumbs, Bobby pins) the front if the vanity had toothpaste down the front. The shower had blue cleaner? streaks down the walls. The window curtains had a mysterious brown substance on them. I’m sure it can all be remedied, and I’m sure it was just an anomaly.

Cons: Great place. Very clean.

Cons: Bed and pillow was awful. My body ached for days.

Pros: Good clean consistent
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool was maintained beautifully. The breakfast that was available was fresh and quality. The lady maintaining the area during breakfast was very efficient, and hard working!
Cons: I feel that the rooms where comfortable, but lacked a coziness. The chair furniture pieces where amazing and beautiful. I do think the art in the room could have been more prominent as well, it blended too much with the TV and mirror on the wall.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The staff is not helpful and is not friendly

Pros: I loved everything particularly the breakfast buffet. Great location for heading up to New Hampshire.

Pros: The staff was very nice. They served a decent breakfast with a lot of variety to the types of food. Really liked that in addition to 24 hour coffee/tea they had a delicious lemon water.
Cons: It was a little hard to get to. Coming from our location to the hotel involved a triple cloverleaf turn in the dark. It would be nice to add an entrance from the road that is directly behind the hotel. Cheap materials in bath.

4.0 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: The bathrooms had barn doors that didn’t close properly my boyfriend had to put them back on the tracks twice . The upstairs part of the loft was stifling , no patriots games on tv , the hotel doesn’t get CBS . Beautiful curtains hanging ripped on one side , very disappointing overall for a Lark hotel .
4.2 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfortable, the bar on the first floor was pretty good, and the aesthetic of the place is great
Cons: Where to start; the place doubled its prices per room since our first stay in February, we had to switch rooms twice, the first time because our room had a water leak, the second because of room they switched us to had people staying in it or hadn't been cleaned. There were used towels on the floor, the TV was on and the room was generally a mess. The 3rd room we landed in was on the third floor and had a huge ceiling which amplified any coughing or snoring we did, we could hear the cleaning crew moving furniture around on the roof above us, and the door to the room is probably an inch off the ground, letting in all kinds of light and making any conversation in the hall exponentially easier to hear. I ended up hating this place. The check in person and check out person were the only staff I felt that had it together.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was enthusiastic and helpful as soon as we arrived. Check-in was a breeze and the staff made wonderful suggestions based on our planned activities. The room was exquisite. Very modern, cozy and chic. All areas of the hotel were pristine. Even at 2am, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate me. Will be staying again soon!
7.0 Good
Pros: This property is clearly a major renovation to a very old building into something with current day design expectations. They did a good job at finding quirky cool things to liven up the decor. The small spaces that they had to work with were handled with some creative space planning. We liked the barn door feature corner and the split bathroom in our room. The bed was comfortable, the sheets and blanket were super soft and cozy.
Cons: The HVAC unit in the bedroom was quite loud. It eventually faded to background noise, but definitely louder than something you would normally find in a hotel room. I don't think we had a full array of shampoo and conditioner to use in the shower, but the products were very high quality. The trash cans were not set up and distributed around the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved everything about it Cool Fresh and Funky Great location Walk to everything Be part of Salem for a day Great Will go back
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff was super helpful and the location cannot be beaten, super central, steps away from everything. Bathroom was great, clean and spacious enough.
Cons: Space can definitely be an issue if there are 2 people with 2 suitcases.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The diner closes too early.

Pros: Clean, comfortable, and all around great stay. Mainly the staff! Next level service and kindness! I wish I remembered names. The male host and female manager on duty went out of their way to help me in a mistake I made. Breakfast was much better than most "included" breakfasts. Again, credit to the staff. I'll be staying there every time I'm in the area.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Price
Cons: Everything!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed, decent shower.
Cons: Small gym facilities
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff very friendly
Cons: While the price was right, the hotel was rated 3 1/2 stars, should be 2 1/2. The room compared to a Hampton Inn, but the lobby and eating area was small and much more poorly appointed than a typical Hampton. You typically rate Hamptons 2 1/2 stars.

Pros: It was OK
Cons: The sound of traffic and sirens much of the night

Cons: The location was tricky to get to, we missed our turn and had to go through a roundabout three times to get back.

Pros: When we walked at first glance it was Beautiful! The setup was on point. We didn't have any complaints until we started using things.
Cons: Toilet happened to be clogged straight away, husband fixed it. The refrigerator started to leak this nasty brown oil substance which I'm assuming is for the cooling. Husband also cleaned that up. And then we had no hot water which we couldn't fix.

Pros: The girl at the front desk was so helpful in making our stay special.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: I loved the kids sweet. They enjoyed having there own beds and section of the room. It was great to be able to have are own TV 2 so they could watch there cartoons while we got to watch what we wanted. We also loved having a balcony! The food was good. The staff was friendly. We Loved the endless cookies !
Cons: It was way too over crowded. The elevator was not working so we were stuck dragging all are luggage up stairs. I am disabled so that was hard for me. I would have thought they would have someone help us to are room since we lugged are stuff all over the hotel looking for are room ...its like a maze lol. So would have been better if they were more direct about were the rooms are .They should change there towel system. It's way too cold u have to wait In line with people paying to come to the water park for the day. The desk is right by the main door so it is very cold and uncomfortable to stand in a bathing suit with people fully dressed. It would have been better if u could receive towels from the life guard station which is inside the heated area. Plus having the lazy river be closed one of the days we were staying was a real disappointment! The indoor outdoor jacuzzi was closed also another huge disappointment! At some point they closed the basketball area and it didnt seem like they were cleaning or doing anything to have a reason to be closed. In my opinion there should be something on the floors I saw so many kids slip and smash there heads and it was hard to explain to my 5 year old that I know u are excited but you need to walk 2 seconds later I had to say it again. All in all it felt like a big fauls advertisement. The bathroom in the water park area was disgusting!! I went in and turned right around and had to go back to my room to change .We got the room for the kids and they make it seem like there is a parrat on the bed waiting for them my 7 year old was bummed when she got to the room. Opened the door to an empty bed . We tried to make the best of it but honestly very disappointed!

Pros: Friendly staff convenient having the water park attached also.

Pros: This hotel was and has all the makings of a luxury hotel. Best fitness center ever in a hotel.
