Great experience but hard to find
We stayed at the Ibis the night before leaving Scotland and wanted an inexpensive hotel close to the airport. The hotel was clean and modern. The price was great for what you get, and the small size of the rooms did not bother us at all. The rooms are efficiently laid out with shower, toilet, and sink en suite. For a brief stay, it was great. Taxi ride from there was inexpensive, too.
We tried to check in at the hotel before returning our rental car so as to avoid carrying luggage back and forth. We could not figure out how to get to the entrance to the hotel! Granted, we were Americans trying to navigate driving in the UK ("wrong" side of road and roundabouts). It would have been nice for the hotel to provide extra directions when we made the reservation. We finally ended up returning the rental car and having a taxi drop us off.
Great for solo traveller, amazing airport access
This is a really great place to stay over for easy access to Edinburgh Airport. It's only a short tram ride away. The tram ride into the city is also easy and cheap so this would be a good alternative to staying somewhere more expensive downtown. The rooms are small but use space so ingeniously that it's actually really fun to stay there, like being in a futuristic space pod :) I think kids would like it.
There is nothing around the hotel except a business park and a mall so atmosphere-wise so it may not be great for long-term stay if you really want to experience Edinburgh.
Our fuss-free hotel sets out everything you need without all the unnecessary extras, so you enjoy budget-friendly room rates without missing out on anything critical. Modern, well-equipped and staffed with one of the friendliest teams around, ibis Budget Edinburgh Park boasts a 24/7 café for refreshments, 161 cosy cocoon rooms and free on-site parking for ease of coming and going throughout your stay.
