The car was great and there were no problems as far a quality. However, the pick up process was not good. I purchased the insurance through the website when the reservation was done. When I got to the counter they informed me that I had two options. Buy the insurance that they had, even though I had already purchased insurance, or have an $18,000.00 Hold on my credit card. Of course because of the amount and it being a foreign transaction, my credit card thought it was fraud and the hold could not be placed. I was forced to buy the second insurance. On top of everything, I rented the car for 4 days and they only had cars that had Pico Y placa on one of those days. So it could not be used in town for one of the days. I would not rent from them again. The insurance process is very shady.Reviewed 3 Aug 2026

My reservation was supposed to have free cancellation up to 48 hours in advance. I was never able to cancel it. I had to undergo heart surgery that prevented me from traveling. I spoke with Europcar and they told me they couldn't cancel it because it was made through Kayak. The reservation number was 26705658. They charged me for a service they didn't provide. The car was listed as a “mid-size” SUV but was actually a compact and hardly fit our luggage. But the worst part was the chaos at the pick up and drop off. The staff was not interested in being helpful and had no organization. Everyone was frustrated and they did not seem to care at all. Will never rent through them again.Reviewed 27 Jul 2026

I called a couple of days before to tell them I was coming early due to a flight change and they said it wouldn't be a problem. When I showed up with my family in tow, it was a problem, we spent an hour and a half before cancelling the original and paying an extra $100 for the rent because of me being two hours early. I called two days before to make sure I wouldn't have problems, I had the chance to rebook two days before. The beginning of a vacation shouldn't start this way. Horrible experience with staff people in the counter; i didn’t get the info about International licence on time, but i get i’m responsable to find out what’s needed to drive in Italy, the thing is they were disrespectful and didn’t show any interest and give me good info or any solutions; also i write two mails and call them to say i was going to be late, and they said it was ok, but then change 95 euros for the late show up; never again with Europcar!Reviewed 19 Jul 2026
