Top tips for hiring a car at Flint Bishop airport

  • Avoiding traffic and congestion is at the top of every savvy traveller's list. When you plan your trip to Michigan, book a flight to Flint Bishop Airport (FNT) instead of Grand Rapids or Detroit. Ideal for both pleasure and business, car hire at Flint Bishop Airport, along with the flight there, gives you the most efficient, hassle-free way to reach any destination you may have in the state. It might even give you some extra time to relax after a business trip or enjoy your holiday a little longer.
  • With eight rental agencies which have offices at the airport, make sure to use KAYAK to search for and compare the vehicles that are available. When you've found your perfect wheels, book on KAYAK, then sit back and relax as everything will be ready and waiting for you at Flint Bishop Airport car hire. The airport is close to major routes, like Route 69 and Route 75 which connect you to the other parts of the state, as well as Canada. Worried about getting lost? Don't be! Add a GPS or a Wi-Fi Hotspot when you make your booking at a minimal daily rate.
  • When you plan a trip during the snowy season (from late autumn to late spring) remember to check that the car you rented from car hire at Flint Bishop Airport has been fitted with snow chains or snow tyres. There is normally heavy snowfall and blizzards in this area, and your safety is paramount. Usually, car rental agencies should make sure it is included in all rentals booked in winter. Just ask if there is an extra cost for it, but it is normally free of charge. If your agency tells you that it's not included, we advise that you book with another agency that offers this service.
  • Depending on whether business or pleasure is on your planned itinerary, you may consider renting a pickup truck, a medium to large SUV or an off-road vehicle. Especially in winter, or during other bad weather conditions, these vehicles provide extra safety that is worth the slightly higher price. Heading into the mountains? No problem, just add glass and tyre or undercarriage insurance to avoid potentially nasty bills, if something should happen. Likewise, if you are staying in town for business, both the snow chains and the added insurance give you the confidence to be fully focused on your meetings.
  • Book your car hire at Flint Bishop airport at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price

FAQs about hiring a car at Flint Bishop airport

  • Where in the terminal is car hire at Flint Bishop Airport located?

When you come down the escalator from the second floor, the concierge rental car desks will be on your right, next to the baggage claim. If you enter from the main entrance, it will be on your left.

For ease of use and your convenience, most of the rental agencies have the same weekday operating hours. The weekend hours are more variable, and a lot of agencies close at 12:00 on a Sunday. However, they may offer a late collection or return service if you organise it when you make your booking.

  • Can I drive my rental vehicle to Canada?

Should you be planning a road trip up north to Canada, you must check the individual terms and conditions for border crossings with each rental agency. Normally you must let the rental agency know if you plan to cross the border when you book, by adding it as a special request. The agency can issue you with a Canadian Non-Resident Insurance Card free of charge. There may be extra costs for border crossings depending on each agency.

  • Do you have any other tips?

Always make sure that the damage and scratches on your car match the description sheet you receive. If it doesn't, bring it to the attention of the desk agent and have them amend it before you leave.

We never received a car. When we got to the budget counter they told us they had been trying to contact us but didn't have the correct number. I'm not sure how that's possible since we provided it to kayak and through the website qeeq should have had it. We received no phone call, no email or text. The person at the counter told us that we would not be charged because they would not be running the credit card so we needed to do nothing further when we arrived and they did not have a car. We have now been charged by q e e q for a rental we did not receive. This is our first time through kayak, what a complete disaster.

I was sent an email to remind me to bring my drivers license. In the email they should have included that they do not accept debit cards and only except credit cards. Because I did not know this I was not able to rent the vehicle and my trip was canceled
