George Town hotels near Loh Guan Lye Specialist Centre

Cons: Everything is great except Wifi or internet connectivity. It's one of the worst for all the hotels I stayed. I feel not only the speed is slow, but the response time is quite slow. I suspect there are too many devices connected, so the router couldn't handle the number of devices. Probably the routers are not particular high grade or too few routers. Very late at night it gets a better (fewer devices are connected and use the network simultaneously). It is quite annoying. I think it's a relative easy fix. 1) Add more and high quality routers, 2) increase the bandwidth from the ISP. I hope next time the wifi issue is fixed because everything is great, but wifi is 1 out of 10....

Pros: Facilities like steam room & jacuzzi should be made available to all guests, not just SPA customers

Pros: Nice room with nice view. Good value and great staff!

Cons: Washroom not very accessible for wheelchair bound folks. Uncle and mom with mobility issues had a hard time with the slippery washroom and lack of hand grabs.

Pros: The breakfast was excellent especially the roti canai and kway teow.

Pros: Love the colonial atmosphere, the location facing the ocean but also right in the heart of George Town.

Cons: Unfortunately at the time of my visit the original 1885 building was under maintenance.

Pros: We enjoyed staying in the heritage part of the hotel. It really did feel like going back in time. The suite was very comfortable with everything you'd expect from a hotel of this level. The staff in front of house were extremely helpful.

Cons: The pool in the heritage section was closed for our entire stay. However the pool at the victory wing was pleasant and not too far to walk. The gym in the heritage section has little in the way of cardio equipment but again, there is a full range in the gym in the other section.

Pros: Amazing variety at breakfast. Huge beautiful rooms with high ceilings. Stunning pool area on the 6th floor

Pros: Very good seaview. The breakfast buffet is quite good. Plenty of food to choose.

Pros: The swimming pool and room were incredible. The view of the sea is also wonderful. The buffet breakfast had a good selection .

Cons: Unfortunatley on our first day, one of our party cut their foot on some glass that was in the swimming pool. There was a freak storm so we understand it was an accident but to be honest the response from the staff was underwhelming. On top of that the service in the restaurant was incredibly bad we waited over 25 minutes after we finished our meal and no one came to take our plates, ask us for more drinks/dessert etc. Who knows how long we would have been there if we had not got up to pay the bill at the counter ourselves. Its a shame as the hotel is gorgeous and the food was good. We ended up eating out the rest of the time because of this bad service.

Pros: The room itself was very good but noisy from neighboring room. The bathroom was very good, a beautiful view from balcony, comfortable bed and great service from lady concierge.

Cons: Noise from room opposite, noise from construction and uncontrolled behavior of children in Planters Lounge plus no dress code of an evening. The staff dress well so should the patrons.

Pros: Wonderful spacious and clean rooms. Very hospitable staff. Good food, wonderful pool deck and gym. And the location is fantastic!

Pros: Hotel with good location in middle of Georgetown. Walking distance to McDonalds.

Cons: Hotel needs to inform guests checking in on Tuesdays that the main road access is closed due to street vendors. Halal eateries are few in this area.

Cons: My booking was unavailable, they 'ran out' of rooms. So, they 'upgraded' me to a different room. Went up to the room to find out that it was no ready, and the hallway and room stunk of tabacoo and cigarettes. I checked in at 3pm, an hour later than the check in tome. So I find it unacceptable that rooms were no ready. Anyway, I talked to the manager, who did not believe that the room was not ready and that stunk of cigarettes So, after he confirmed himself that i was not making up a story, I was 'upgraded' again. Next day, at breakfast time I was politely asked to leave cos I was 'alone' in a table and they wanted the table for another party. And around 9am, as I returned from breakfast, I found housekeeping in my room. I had to pushed them out of the room cos they refused to leave. The room was not well insulated, I could hear the noise from outside eventough windows were shut and aircon was on, 2 nights of constant noise! The aircon was actually making a racket as well, so I had to turn it off after a while. All in all my 2 nights 3 days at this place was hellish to say the least.

Pros: This hotel was great in many respects: comfort, professionalism, cleanliness and great location not too far from many attractions. The Newlane street food vendors are located right outside of hotel. A very nice gentlemen as host (Shafiq) was taking comments during breakfast which was great and we would chat with him daily during our stay as he was very welcoming.

Cons: The only 2 somewhat negative points are: (1) the hotel lobby played music which was loud enough to hear in my room - this should NEVER be the case and (2) first day or two the breakfast restaurant was not able to handle to rush and was running out of tables and food. Latter was fixed with our comments but not the music issue unfortunately. Other than that, great stay (Aug 2019)!

Pros: It was a good stay. Everything needed is provided like hair dryer, some soft drinks, bath tub, do not disturb digital sign and much more. And the most important thing every hotel should have is A SUPER FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL staff. Im barely didnt look his name tag but I think he should get a great reward for his kindness from the hotel. He help us to bring our luggage and provide us information needed.

Pros: Comfortable and classic business hotel from the 80's, with a great breakfast buffet, full of options, served in an airy and comfortable diner room. The location is quite central, too.

Cons: The rooms are less attractive than on pictures, and the "deluxe option" is still quite standard... Expect a normal business hotel room, japanese style (i.e., quite small....)

Pros: This hotel unlike other hotels, that I have been to has nice size water station for the guests, people passing through as such! That is a welcome sight and a relief for a thirsty travelers. That I find is highly impressive. Also, I received 4 complimentary water bottles in the room l stayed. Most hotel housekeeping departments only provide the standard 2 bottles in this region of SE ASIA for daily consumption.

Cons: Be forwarded that there is a club on site that plays loud music nonstop from midnight to 6 am.

Cons: Power socket points in the room are seriously lacking. The car park should upgrade to use key card for access for guests.

Cons: The first room which I stayed there was some terrible noise at night from the above room from night till 5am ...not sure what noise was it ..I made a complaint the next day and at the evening I was given another room of the same floor ..this room was much better ..more clean and there was no noise ..

Pros: It's centrally located and close to many eateries and historical sites. A nice environment to sample the history and culture of Penang. There are so many places which are accessible on foot.
