Pros: The total experience of the Cyprus Inn was extraordinary. The room itself, the décor, the tasteful furnishings and amenities, the comfort level, the view were all beyond expectation. The staff were friendly, gracious and helpful. The breakfasts were beautifully presented, the food was delicious and the service impeccable. Of course, the location was perfect. We were lulled to sleep by the rhythmic sound of the waves and thoroughly enjoyed walks along the beach. The Inn created some lovely memories to carry home with us. I cannot commend it too highly.
Cons: I don't believe there was a thing we didn't like. I only think in superlatives when I recall it!

Pros: Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms and decent continental breakfast.

The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay - Half Moon Bay - Building
4
9.0 Excellent (1,819 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When the surrounding area is rich with natural resources and beauty, luxury comes with a distinctly local touch. At The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, resort guests can savor the Northern California sunset on a beautiful evening; sample fine wines from vintners along the coast; craft s’mores over an open fire on their private terrace; discover the nourishing benefits of pumpkin at the spa or tee off on two championship golf courses that are as beautiful as they are well-designed. Holding court on a bluff overlooking the ocean, and just 20 miles from San Francisco International Airport, this secluded, hotel in California celebrates its surroundings with an experience rooted in the element of fire and the discovery of wine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jan was very accommodating. It was my girlfriend and my first year anniversary. I’m a Platinum member and they upgraded our room. Nicolas was great at taking care of our luggage and even waited for our room to be ready. He went above and beyond and gave us an extra bottle of
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, friendly staff...beautiful grounds and facility. Its our "special place" to sneak off to.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality and location
Cons: The front desk how helped me with the check in was awesome and great, I will definitely go back because of him. Thanks for taking care of us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located right on the beach and is breath-taking. This is the Ritz-Carlton, so it is everything that you would expect. It is true that you get what you pay for! It is very LUXE and the staff is very attentive.
Cons: Can't imagine anything I could possibly complain about, except that it is NOT for those on a budget.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: the view from the room was beautiful and the land is huge, so you can explore the whole area without any restrictions. there is also a fireplace that you can sit around outside while watching the sunset (which by the way, is absolutely breathtaking). the room was very spacious and super comfortable! the toilet has a bathtub which is awesome too.
Cons: a bit expensive but worth it.
7.1 Good
Pros: The property is beautiful and the views are impressive
Cons: We had lots of issues that you would not expect when paying over $1,000/night for a room at the Ritz: (1) our room had a tiny sofa bed that barely fit one person but room on booking.com was sold as a 4-person room...my two daughters (5 and 6 year old) could not comfortably fit. They shouldn't sell that as a 4-person room but 3, even with kids. (2) to add to that, the sofa bed was not prepared (no sheets, pillow etc). We asked at reception and they promised they'd prepare that "and add an extra bed if that one was too small". It wasn't done. We called housekeeping again when back in room at 10:30pm and they said they'd come. They didn't and after 30 mins, we all fell asleep tired from the trip. I ended up sleeping on the bare mattress of the sofa bed while my family shared the double bed. Cold and uncomfortable night for $1,000. When complained the morning after reception gave a $300 credit but still.... (3) it was Mothers Day and they basically closed off two thirds of the restaurant for outsiders booking brunch. What it meant was that there was a crazy queue to get sat at breakfast. We waited 45mins and still were not sat!! At the same time they ran out of most food from the buffet. So we gave up and skipped breakfast rather than pay $50 per person after waiting one hour and not even get proper food. (4) lunch was the same story. No space anywhere. I had to beg the guy at the separate restaurant of the golf course (not a Ritz-managed restaurant) to squeeze us in their Mothers Day buffet lunch in between servings. So we managed to get a (rushed and overpriced) lunch at least Because of these failure in basic lodging needs (bed and food) at such a high price, I cannot rank this experience positively. I have stayed in several other Ritz properties around the world and have never had anything like this
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is stunning overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is our second time there and we will be back.
Cons: Food prices in the golf club are great and we are all welcome there. Prices at the main house are in the upper end for dining but then again you will have the view of the Ocean there.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Ocean view room is beautiful and relaxing. Bed is very comfortable.
Cons: I could hear people talking on the hall way very clearly. Door closing feature can be improved so that it won't have a loud closing sound. I was surprised the cleaning lady came before the day of checking out. I brought a personal wine glass and put it on the table. The cleaning lady accidentally took it away. I mentioned to them but with no luck to get it back. That is to say, the management need improvements.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: - toilet needs replacing - waiters in restaurant need better training - wine list is extremely poor/we had to ask twice for it - wine glasses were wrong for the wine - no steak knife with dinner There is more, but I wouldn't waste money here again...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A fabulous stay in a place in the wild and unspoiled nature and in a magnificent hotel in all senses
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a stunning property with spectacular staff and incredible amenities.
5.4 Okay
Pros: - excellent service - perfect food - nice place
Cons: Just the room. We were really disappointed with our suite. First, the location is not good: everybody can see us. Second, the bathroom (for a suite with such price) was really small: small shower, lack of space. And the sofa bed used by our daughter for sleeping was so uncomfortable...

Pros: Out room was very comfortable, and the view spectacular, loved the sound of the surf at night.

Pros: The Hotel Lobby was beautiful! Nice and sunny with a extremely large glass celling letting in the sunshine. Large warm fire and very nice decor also.
Cons: The furniture and couch pillows in our room were old and needed replacement. The fog horn blew every 20 seconds all day everyday making it hard to sleep. The hotel did however provide ear plugs.

Cons: A fair distance from San Fran itself but very convenient to train station.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked that this space actually had clear separation in room usage with doors, unlike some other suite-style hotels. It helped delineate space and gave me and my toddler a bit of privacy and keep her on her sleep schedule.
Cons: While all the room features were up-to-date, the dish washer looked a bit sad. The walls seemed a bit thin and you could hear people walking throughout the halls and up and down the stairs.

Pros: The room and facilities were excellent and great value for money compared to what you can get at neighbouring San Francisco. Inclusive breakfast was very good too with a good fruit selection and waffle-making station. Staff were very friendly. Even has free shuttle bus service to the airport. By far the best hotel we stayed at on our Californian road trip, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if visiting San Fran.
Cons: There wasn't a lift to take our luggage up to our room - all 6 cases up 2 flights! After having travelled a long way by car and it being dark at this point, a lift would have been much appreciated.

Pros: Immaculate rooms and bathrooms! Decor very chic.
Cons: We worked an event till past midnight came in late and expected to sleep in a little. Maid service utility room was across from our room and the room staff started conversing from that closet to another room several doors down before 8:00am. Facility is beautiful, but not a quiet place to wake up in.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, very clean. Great location. Will stay again in the future.
6.0 Good
Cons: A thorough cleaning would benefit this hotel. The furniture, paint, and plumbing could all use freshening.
6.0 Good
Pros: I didn't realise the facility was a motel and it was a cold and wet afternoon/evening so the walk from the room to the lobby was outside, albeit somewhat protected by a glass frame. The room was fine.
Cons: My issues were with the fact that I had expected more of a hotel and not a motel.

7.0 Good
Pros: The breakfast,
Cons: The first room we got was very stuffy because the air conditioning was down. They did however change us to a new room which wasn't as bad.
6.3 Good
Pros: Customer service at the reception desk was exceptional.
Cons: Pricing is a joke. I think i was charged more than on the booking orginal offer. Additionally I needed to pay for overnight stay of my car at their garage almost +40% of what i already paid for the room. Not even saying that a bottle of water in your room costs extra 4 USD !!!! My room offer also did not included breakfast - but that was my choice. Taking all of that into consideration, I recomend other hotels on the same street where out of the country guest can get better value for the money.
6.3 Good
Pros: The room could have been great.
Cons: But we were given probably one of very few rooms on this floor right above the freeway! We have stayed on the airport side and it’s much quieter. This room is so noisy. Sure the hotel isn’t fully booked. Mean.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was Amazing & the hotel is gorgeous.
Cons: I booked a disabled room for wheelchair accessibility, but it wasn't. The bed was so high that it took 2 people to get the wheelchair bound person in bed. That is unacceptable & very disappointing! Will think twice about re-booking there
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Staff is very helpful, rooms are very updated, Atrium is beautiful. This is my 3rd time staying at this hotel. Never a disappointment.
Cons: I feel that with the price of the room the water should be included and not free to honorary Hyatt members.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The parking is a bit expensive for no reason.

Pros: I loved my view onto the Bay and watching the planes landing and taking off. The ladies in the breakfast service, especially Olga were great. Alysess? was our server in the evening and she was also good.
Cons: I was shocked when I wanted to get a steak for dinner and it was just the steak on a plate without any veggies or anything and the price was very hefty. I so wanted a steak but I can go to an excellent steakhouse for that price. this is a hotel with travellers and only people on expense accounts can afford those prices. If I had gotten a small salad and vegetable and potatoe or rice for that price I would have considered it......

6.0 Good
Pros: Location, location, location. Nice front desk staff. Appreciate the coffee maker, fridge and microwave. Sufficient toiletries. The price is reasonable compared to other locations so near a major airport, and with parking.
Cons: This is the second time I have stayed here. Unfortunately this visit was a let down from the first. The bed was uneven, highest in the middle then sloping down on either side. The refrigerator made an awful noise that sounded like the "tink, tink, tink" of water in pipes. I finally realized it was the refrigerator, not a pipe in the wall, so I turned it off and was finally able to get some sleep. Also, though I noticed on my last visit that the bathroom could use a facelift, this bathroom was in worse shape, chips in the counter, etc. Again, very clean but time to freshen the property a bit. The breakfast options are plentiful but the dining area was full. If you are not dashing out the door, and like me, don't want maximum human interaction first thing when you wake up, take your food back to your room for some peace and quiet. I'll give it one more try after Christmas for the deciding vote.

7.0 Good
Pros: Nice room. Very clean.
Cons: The breakfast choices aren't that good. There seems to be a lack of staff for replenishing food and beverages or a lack of good management. They ran out of many items... no milk, no coffee, no omelets (not good anyway), no plain yoghurt, no bananas. The trash was piled up and overflowing. It was a frustrating breakfast. We went out to eat for breakfast one of the days we stayed.
1.0 Poor
Cons: We booked this hotel a few days in advance and due to the power outage they were overbooked and we did not have a place to stay for the night. We didn't know until 6 pm the day of check in.

Cons: We enjoyed our stay. We booked for the 1st time because of the hotels proximity to the beach. For $300/night I was hoping to enjoy the view on our balcony. Instead we were given a room with a view of the parking lot

Pros: The view, location to beach, and accommodations made this a great place to stay for a getaway weekend.
Cons: We would have preferred a gas fireplace.

Cons: The bed was quite hard.

Pros: No complaints. We loved the walk on trails directly accessible from the property. The room was clean, plenty of towels, no noise. Continental breakfast was excellent with trays available to get all you needed for the family to take back to family in room. Easy quick drive to town.
Cons: Rooms a little dated. I would use bleach cleaner in grout regularly.
