Pros: The location and attention to detail was brilliant. Also the staff also braved into work despite floods and never complained and just got on as normal. Ellie was brilliant and very helpful
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a nice hotel and the staff really make this hotel. Almost every person we dealt with was fantastic and friendly and went the extra mile for you. Our room had quality curtains, a good bed and pillows. Because we arrived on a Sunday and they weren’t fully booked we were able to upgrade to a good sized room. The standard room was very small but the superior room was spacious and what I would expect a room to be. The breakfast was very good with a good selection.
Cons: The bathroom in our room was poor. It was dated, old fashioned, with an inefficient shower, cramped, badly lit and ill thought out. In fairness though I believe the hotel is updating it ‘80’s’ bathrooms. I like a good modern efficient bathroom! We thought the evening meals in the hotel were expensive, £38 for 3 courses per person plus drinks, we didn’t want to eat that much every night or pay that much plus drinks so we ate in Hawes. We ate evening meals in The Crown and The White Hart, both served good food at a reasonable price. The Crown had a great Theakson Barista on tap, my husband really enjoyed this! The hotel should offer more flexibility with its menu.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is warm and welcoming, and the staff were all lovely, from check-in to check-out. Our room was superb - a gorgeous four-poster bed, comfortable sofa and seating area, and a wonderful outlook from both windows (rolling countryside, snow-covered hills, and a family of rabbits on the lawn). And snow falling, which made it perfect for me! The hotel felt very home-y for such a grand old place, and we loved every minute of it.
Cons: Having to leave.
