10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a wonderful small hotel with an unforgettable atmosphere of authenticity located in the town where the traces of history are well preserved. A charming inn keeper, very sweet lady is very good at creating a homely atmosphere and providing a comfortable stay at a reasonable price. The hotel is suitable for everyone, including those with limited mobility.
7.9 Good
Pros: Charming older home, quiet.
Cons: Steps to enter from gravel parking in back. Dark at night. Main entrance clear around front so would have to walk around driveway to use that entrance. Not best accommodations for elderly.
5.0 Okay
Cons: We arrived at about 330 PM and nobody was on site to check us in. After returning at about 5, the young man checked us into a different room than I had requested. He seemed to think it was an upgrade. I had wanted 2 beds. The honeymoon suite with 1 bed was not appropriate for us. I was too embarrassed to force the issue and shared a bed with my friend. The bed in the Double Delight room was not comfortable. Neither of us slept well. Breakfast the next morning was minimal. I have stayed at the Palm prior and enjoyed it but this experience was very disappointing.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, beautifully renovated bedroom & bathroom. Much better than would have expected in a historic building.
7.0 Good
Pros: A rather old-fashioned but comfortable hotel with charming and helpful staff. Just the place to stay for a visit to what is quite an interesting and historic area. We had an excellent tour of the Railtown museum.
7.0 Good
Pros: The bedroom was spacious and the bed very comfortable. It also had a very good ensuite.
Cons: The staff did not make us feel welcome and seem to lack interest in what they were doing. We have visited the USA on many vacations and have always experienced excellent customer service. They took no interest in what we wanted to see and did not offer any advice on what was available in the local area. The food was average hence we only had breakfast once. The hotel next door (National) was excellent very friendly staff and very good food. The decor in the hotel is disappointing and needs updating. I feel they were a bar for the local people. They appear to have a low occupancy rate, we were the only guests for 3 of our 4 night stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the restaurant staff is especially hospitable, genuine in making patrons feel welcome ---one of the best aspects of this hotel is a good bar and restaurant, and the food is good; most outstanding was the delicious carrot and ginger soup, as well as the sauces for entrees; very comfortable rooms and a proprietor who carefully listens --- truly good rest! one weekend was like being on vacation for a week - simply terrific sites within a very few miles- this is my second stay and I will definitely go back
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely refurbished historic hotel full of character. Friendly staff, great location for the start of our three week road trip through California and Oregon. Pleasant open balcony on first floor where we enjoyed a drink watching the sun set over Jamestown’s Main Street.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the quaintness of the hotel-the decor, the ambiance, and the lovely veranda! I especially loved the staff! Nellie and Erin were awesome! They were totally personable and friendly and helpful and professional! I can’t say enough about them!!!!!
Cons: Nothing! I LOVE the place! I want to go back!

Pros: Friwndly staff
Cons: Somebody forgot shoes in my room. Cleaner didnt see...
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I had requested a room with a balcony through booking.com and the hotel got back to me and said it would not be a problem. We got in late and once we got to our room we realized it was overlooking the parking lot and no balcony. In inquiring the next morning at the front desk it was immediately taken care of. No questions asked. I was impressed.
Cons: Can’t really think of much. Sonora, being a small town, does not really have a great selection in hotels. I took this into consideration and felt this hotel was beyond par.

7.9 Good (1,173 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Sonora Inn places you in the heart of Sonora, steps from New Melones Lake and 3 minutes by foot from Veterans Memorial Hall and Military Museum. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was very clean and comfortable but yet still had historic charm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The history and the view from the roof top
Cons: No. Every thing was great.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and odorless. The bedding was clean. The tall ceilings felt grand. It was quiet at night. The coffee maker in the room, the mini refrigerator and microwave makes for convenient eating. I liked that there was soap and shampoo provided. The towels were clean. The water was hot enough. The public areas are beautiful. Parking is convenient. The breakfast service is wonderful. The staff is friendly.
Cons: The cat lives all over the lobby with its bed and carpeted climbing structure, and lounges on the sofas for humans. I am allergic to cats, so being in the lobby made my eyes itch. I think it is unprofessional to have a pet living in the lobby. Also, the sink has separate faucets for hot and cold water, so you either have to use cold water or risk burning yourself on the hot water. I know this is a “historic” inn, but this separated faucet was a poor invention that doesn’t have to stay. The bathtub looks not so clean. There is not closet to hang up clothes.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Worked out great for snow hitting our area hard.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The history of the building and the pleasant staff.
Cons: Beds were a bit uncomfortable.

Cons: Room a little on the small side for the price and the floor was slanted. The bathroom needed some tlc.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The historic charm
Cons: It's an old hotel. The plumbing is very loud (sounds like a car crashed thru a wall when the people above us flushed the toilet. The Inn needs to update the plumbing and bathrooms. The breakfast that was provided was below average and nothing tasted goo
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming hotel with history and modern comforts. Clean room and friendly staff. Downtown Sonora was inviting with its shops, restaurants that catered to vegetarians, and new coffee venues.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing customer service! And very clean! Breakfast was a great spread! I couldn't believe the overall value the hotel staff provided.
Cons: Need some remodel
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: The room was in poor condition, carpet dirty, small bugs in the bed, tiny, bathroom had several chipped areas, thread bare towels. Not as advertised and too much money for the room/amenities.

7.0 Good
Pros: Staff was helpful
Cons: The room heat comes out of the "window air conditioner" but no one explained that to us. And it turns out that you have to press the Mode button to change from cool to heat but the indicator light is so small and high up that it cannot be seen or at least read from the standing position. And there were no instructions. But to be fair, the room was new and the staff didn't have any experience with it. The cable TV did not have MSNBC!

Pros: Quiet location
Cons: Outdated room. Mattress stained and worn. Poor overall cleanliness.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Location was convenient to downtown area.
Cons: Expensive for what you get. Could have been cleaner. Breakfast was a bit of a joke. Linens were scratchy. Employee/tenant sat outside his room in a chair and rather"started"at everyone while he smoked. The room was ungodly hour when we arrived, as the heater had been set to 75. We had to open the windows in the 45 degree weather to cool off.

Pros: Very nice staff and clean but not safe and for the money not worth it.

Cons: Only negative was the person upstairs walked around the room all night long and we could hear it. If staying again, I would ask for second floor.

Pros: This hotel was such a disappointment. We stayed two nights over New Years for two nights. Our room was not cleaned and was offered 10% discount for one night for their mistake. Go stay at the Black Oak Casino for the same price.

Cons: I’ve stayed here before and loved the breakfast, but on this occasion there were far more limited options (none of the famous waffles) and the coffee was horrible. We left and bought breakfast elsewhere, too bad as this inclusion was one I really looked forward to and was the reason I had selected Gunn House over other options.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A gold rush era building nicely adapted to modern use. For example the bathroom seems nicely modernized/updated but retains the quirky look of a bath added to a building that did not feature indoor plumbing when built. I would bet that no two rooms are configured alike. The breakfast room was originally a small bar and the decor is fascinating. The breakfast menu includes egg bake and coffee cake which gives it a B&B feel. My favorite part is sitting on the veranda in front of my room in a rocking chair looking out at the town and the opposing hillside. Very relaxing. Furnished with antiques but with a comfortable bed.

Pros: The owners were very friendly and accommodating. We loved to hear their story about the history of the home. The creme brûlée french toast breakfast is a recipe that has been used at the Inn for the last 20 years... and it shows, it was amazing!! Clean rooms, peaceful neighborhood, and very close walking distance to all the local hot spots.

Jamestown Hotel - Jamestown - Building

9.0 Excellent (390 reviews)
