10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spent 2 weeks in Japan (stayed in 6 properties) and the most favorite place to stay for my kids is Nagonde. This place located in a nice area. We had coffee in a nearby coffee shop, very nice. Walking distance to station and bus terminal. Central location. Clean and complete facilities. And most of all that my kids love is the welcome feeling they received from the owner and staffs. You feel like you are connected and part of the house. Ayako, Jasmine, Kanji, Tei and Sam have made our stays memorable. Arigato gozaimashita

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Host were the nicest people EVER. Our train was delayed by 2 hrs during which they kept in touch with us in order to make sure that we would be able to check-in after hours. The hosts spoke perfect English which made communication super easy. They gave us good recommendations of what to do in the city in addition to what to eat. The house provided sanitary towels as an amenity. It also had free tea, coffee and cookies. This is the best place we’ve lived in Japan during our 3 week long stay. In love.
Cons: Nothing.
kanazawa guesthouse stella - Kanazawa - Building

9.4 Excellent (425 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Kanazawa Guesthouse Stella in Kanazawa (Higashiyama), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art and Kanazawa Castle. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a vending machine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice helpful host, friendly staff made for a great stay. We stayed in a group room and the curtains made it quite nice to have a little privacy.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The host Shuji was well organised and helpful throughout our stay and his young staff were lovely and welcoming. We were welcomed with a brief summary of local areas of interest and eateries all marked out on a customised map for us to use to explore the area. Stella offered us a home stay style experience where we could cook local market produce and enjoy time with other guests in the shared areas. Our room (B - triple) had a private handbasin and nice upstairs views onto the small street. The guesthouse is well maintained, clean, good value and very well located near the older Gion district of town. All these features ensured we were able to have a relaxed visit and easily enjoy the many wonderful places nearby in Kanazawa.
Cons: There wasn’t anything negative. As it’s a home stay style guesthouse there‘s no formal staffed reception desk. This limited our opportunity to seek information or assistance a couple of times when we had queries which was a little inconvenient, eg. calling us a taxi or making reservations. Shuji more than made up for this when he arrived back as we were departing on our last day and offered to drive us to the train station. We were most appreciative!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredible host!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ideally located, Stella was the most wonderful place to stay with my 2 young daughters. Our host Shuji was immensely kind and helpful and we loved every aspect of this lovely simple guesthouse.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's like a home.Everyday u can met different people from many different places. The owner was also very nice.He told me all the thing about kanazawa. And when I leave he also dive me to the station. I have a good time in the guest house.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very good location and cleanliness. The host has exquisite manners and speak good English. I would definitely recommend this place. We were a family staying in a two bunk beds room, which was spacious enough for the luggage and us. Shared kitchen is very convenient too.
Cons: Shared bathrooms were enough and clean, but would be even better if there were a basin on the first floor.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This guest house is in a fantastic location. The host Shuji went above and beyond to make sure we had all the information and support we could need. We found our bed really comfy. We also rented bikes for a day from the guest house which I highly recommend. In the heat of early august bikes made getting around feel much more achievable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Useful tips from the hotel owner (good restaurants nearby). When we left he gave us a ride to the station. Common room with kitchen and free tea/coffee. Five minutes walk from geisha district.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent host who provided lots of useful tourist information in English.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, very good access and the kindest host you can wish for. he helped us so much and was so nice! i can only recommend this guesthouse!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and clean, nice decorated. Good coffee downstairs. Excellent location to the geisha chaya district !
Cons: Beds were way too warm, even with 5% discount downstairs the bar/restaurant was too expensive! Not a sociable hostel for lone travelers.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: I liked everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We didn’t understand why it is so cheap!!! It has so many details and it is super cozy!! Excellent:)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hostel might just be the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in (and my bar was already set so high after the other hostels I had stayed in in Japan). I liked absolutely everything about it. The staff was so friendly and everything was perfectly clean. The personal sleeping area almost felt like a private room due to its spaciousness, and the mattress was very comfortable. The rain showers are great (I really had to push myself out of there), and so are the other shared facilities. The building itself is quite old, but the interior is very modern and stylish. The cafe downstairs serves great coffee and the restaurant serves nice meal platters for dinner and tasty drinks. Highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location Excellent facilities Friendly staff Clean rooms
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I stayed here with my two teenage sons and this was one of our favourite places to stay on our whole trip. We had a private family room which consisted of 8 large bunks, each with a privacy curtain, light and charging point. The shared bathroom was on the basement level and there was a separate shower room for women and men. This was like a day spa- a really lovely space to use.
Cons: We couldn't turn off a couple of the lights in our room overnight - they were under the bunks but still I would have rather been able to turn them off completely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place! Rooms are spacious and spotless! Kids loved the bunks We had a quad room with shared bath and it was super
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was great. The location is very convenient (right between the castle, garden and the Higashi Chaya District; many bus stops are just a minute away), the staff was pleasant and everything was clean.
Cons: The breakfast is in typical Japanese style. I actually liked it, but wouldn't consider having it more than once if I stayed for longer (I am too used to fruit and yoghurt with cereal for breakfast).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely decoration and spaces. Their spacious and comfy capsule was one of the best I've found in Japan. Location is great.
Cons: Staff wasn't as friendly as usually in Japan. Especially the restaurant service didn't meet Japanese standards.

Pros: The room was nice and clean. We could also feel some essence of traditional Japan from the interior. The Kaga style breakfast was great with lots of vegetables.
Cons: There were not enough tables for all the guests, so we had to book seats for the breakfast when we checked in.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were nice. Hotel was very clean. Breakfast was delicious. Location was good. The portable smartphone we could take on trips into the city.
Cons: The room was rather small and the breakfast expensive. We would have appreciated help with the luggage. Not very child friendly-there are no amenities for children.

The bath has some fountains and additional functionality. The bathroom was very big and perfectly clean. Not a single spot or damage. Also I loved the style of the room, modern but still the feeling of Japan. We would definitely visit the hotel again!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel and staff. It was by far our favorite of the trip. There wasn't much around the hotel in terms of sights or restaurants but their shuttle to the station made up for that. It left every 30 minutes and everything is around the station. The breakfast was unbelievable. Japanese with western touches that would keep any palate happy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff including the shuttle bus driver was outstanding. The description of the hotel as modern, traditional and no-frills was perfect- a great concept. Beautiful garden and easy access to all attractions because of their free shuttle service.

Pros: Fantastic property, big and comfortable beds, clean, amazing breakfast (both Japanese and Western). One of the best hotels we stayed during our whole trip. Staff polite and helpful, the best service possible. Oh, and we saw an eagle on the roof top terrace!
Cons: The only minor thing is the hotel location, in the middle of a residental/warehouse/parking lot area. However, the hotel has a comfortable shuttle to Kanazawa train station, that worked really well for us.

Pros: Staff are impeccable. Always smiling and helpful. Everything is extremely clean. Location is fantastic.
Cons: The walls are paper thin. You can hear every single small knock and footstep. We wanted a private room because we like quiet when we sleep. However, our private room shared a wall with a dorm room and we were kept awake late both nights and awoken very early. This is the only thing stopping us from 10/10 on the review.

Murataya Ryokan - Kanazawa - Building
8
9.1 Excellent (594 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Murataya Ryokan in Kanazawa, you'll be within a 15-minute walk of Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle. Featured amenities include a computer station, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful and friendly staff, spotlessly clean and excellent location, everything in walking distance. It was an excellent introduction to staying in a ryokan and I would stay here again when I visit Kanazawa in the future. It was very comfortable which I wasn't expecting.
Cons: There wasn't anything I could complain about.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The ryokan is located 30 min walk from the station, but if you have JR pass you can use it on JR buses. I is in a little alley between a very nicee high street and the "cool" restaurants area. The tatami room was large and had air conditioning, beds, linens, and yukatas were as new. The common bathroom and washing areas were always impeccable. We have been offered great green tea and the water in the thermo flask was always hot.
Cons: They do not manage your payment through booking and they only accept cash. English was basic but enough to cover fundamentals for the stay in a ryokan.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very kind, polite and helpful people, this more than compensated for the limited facilities (no refrigerator in room , wash basin or tea coffee) in comparison to the other ryokan's we've stayed in. But considering the experience of the ryokan in the middle of a bustling city and the kindness of the elderly couple and son who own the place ... it was well worth it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb hosts, nice room and bath. Love their attention to small details. Like every day they leave a Japanese sweet (which they seem to buy the day before) with a tea set.
Cons: The only thing maybe an “old” smell (you know like when you’re visiting your grandma) in the lobby. That’s probably because the building is very old. Plus it’s not a problem if the door is open. Still giving it 10 stars
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous location for sight-seeing, but not close to the train station. This is a classic ryokan-style inn. Great value. The lighting in our room was nice, with a window to a green, quiet courtyard. The staff were so helpful.
Cons: The onsen (hot bath) is tiny, and the bathroom is down the corridor. (Beware of the house slippers on the stairs).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The stuff ate extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and nice with walking distance to all the main attraction. I really enjoyed my stay there.
Cons: Only one small thing: when I went back for shower after a humid hot day, some guests locked the Japanese style shower/bath place from inside which was supposed to be shared with other people but that is not a big deal: just need to wait a bit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were so helpful and accommodating. The rooms were restful and calming. We all loved the hot bath
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, clean & friendly - perfect place to explore the city!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, tea and Japanese sweets every day
Cons: That you have to pay straight away at check in and not when checking out or the night before if you are departing early. Dark room, hardly any daylight and musty smell despite owner spraying with room freshener.
Blue Hour Kanazawa - Kanazawa - Lobby
9
9.0 Excellent (1,295 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Blue Hour Kanazawa, you'll be centrally located in Kanazawa, within a 5-minute drive of Omicho Market and Kanazawa Castle. Featured amenities include luggage storage and a library.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice view, complimentary tea & coffee Very close to the train station Very good organisation & friendly staff
Cons: Unfortunately there's no window at all in the mixed bedroom.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: There were proper mattresses on the bed, which is good for those not used to sleeping on hard futons. The female only area was excellent - it provided a fully safe space for female travelers who need it. There's refreshments, a separate toilet/ shower, and the area is code locked. It's also a five minute walk from the main JR station.
Cons: The capsules were plasterboard and wood, so the slightest knock on the wall echoed. Free ear plugs are provided though! Only one small gripe - nothing to put your wash bag/ clothes on in the shower cubicles, I had to put my clothes on the floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is good and clean the staff is very kind and helpful, its very close to the station and has a lot of facilities, its a must go if you go to Kanazawa
Cons: Nothing no complains at all
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It is close to bus/train station and it is cheap. Good for one night stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The place was very close to the station (within 5 minute walk). I liked that there was a huge map on the board, recommending places to eat, do or visit, as well as providing some local tips! (Like bike rental round the back was only 500 yen for 24 hours, super convenient). The service was also really good, the girl I had couldn't speak English but it's pretty straightforward what she's saying anyway since the instruction card was in English. I stayed in the all girl's dorm, and everyone was really nice in general. Luggages are stored under the beds, but they also offer to lock it up in the staff area for free.
Cons: The guesthouse is on level 3, with no elevator. Beware if you have a lot of luggage. Also, no place to park bikes so I had to just leave it at the entrance area unlocked.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: New, modern, clean and functional hostel very close to the train station. The common area is very bright and friendly due to a range of large windows. The hostel offers a women-only area, which can only be accessed by code. Very comforting for female solo travellers. Very good free coffee and tea can be found in the common kitchen. The bed and pillow in the dormitory was extremely comfortable, which guaranteed a good night's rest.
Cons: The staff could have been a little bit more communicative and interested in their guests. There are no windows in the women's domitory which gives it a little bit of a prison-cell touch.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff recommendations and helpfulness .Proximity to train .
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: No lift as its on the 2F but the staff is here to help you carrying your luggage
8.8 Excellent
Pros: 1. Staff service was superb! 2. Mini fridges/toaster over/microwave/hot water provided for both female dorm and mixed dorm 3. Hair/Body shampoo/bath towels/hair-dryer provided! 4. literally 4min walk from Kanazawa Station. You can view the station in full as you sit at the bar counter.
Cons: Perhaps better locker storage for each of the bunk beds could be improved. Mine was a wooden locker storage with combination number lock which looked pretty old and could be easily broken into.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I felt like I was home. There was no one around to bother, and the staff was nice yet they left you to your thoughts.
Cons: They didn’t have a nice face wash in the mixed bathroom, I had to sneak into the female dorm to get it.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is very comfortable stay. Lots of hot springs and nice location. Building owner was especially very friendly and super nice. I have enjoyed staying there and will come again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We are a bit shock when first entering the ryokan since the entrance is like a bar, however after we met and escorted to our rooms upstair, they are awesome. The host Yasou is a super nice person, asked whether we brought food since all stores closed due to New Year holiday and then offered to cook us a Japanese hotpot in a traditional room with a very fair price. He also gave us wines and sake as NY treat. I booked 4 rooms for 8 persons and when he saw we brought 2 little kids he said he will give us discount from the listed price at booking.com for the kids. The food turn out to be very nice. The rooms are clean, warm, with comfortable tatami beds. We left early in the morning without saying goodbye in the attempt of catching the earlier bus to Kanazawa. But it turns out to be no bus earlier than 7.30am as Yasou told us due to NY holiday. Yasou came to meet us at the station using and umbrella since it was snowing. He then insisted to give us his umbrella as a give since we didn’t use any. Our best stay in Japan.
Cons: There are no bathroom/shower room in the guest house but the public onsen is very near. Anyway, who will use a bathroom when staying in a ryokan?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location, quiet place to sleep well and the best host in japan. Very friendly host, he cooked for us and took us to an onsen! We highly recommed this place.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Yasou the host is very very nice, friendly, helpfull, warm, caring, a good cook ... the best.
Cons: Everything well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner is so friendly and the traditional Japanese room is awesome. I really enjoy an amazing night there.
6.3 Good
Pros: The place was very close to the onsens if that is your purpose. The room was clean and there was parking. The internet was good. The owner gave us a voucher each for a free onsen entry.
Cons: There was no shower in the hotel. When asked about it, he said he will take us to the bath houses instead. We gave him a time at 7am in the morning, and he never showed. We had to walk to the bathhouse on our own. The room was also very small. It was for 4 people, but we could only fit 3 sleeping mats down. Also, we had to put all the bedding/sheets/quilt cover on by ourself. He also charged us a fee for heating, even though the price was “guaranteed.”
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Yasuo is one of the nicest people we’ve met—we bumped into him at the bus station and he gave us a ride to the guest house and offered to take us to his favorite onsen once we’re settled in and rested. A must place to stay if you’re in the area!
Cons: A little bit of the regular tourist route—but that might be a plus, actually!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very kind, he even took me to a local onsen with his car. The price is also very affordable for a traditional Japanese inn.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice traditional japanese rooms. Short distance to several amazing onsen. The owner is very friendly and helpful and makes great udon soup for breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: interesting host, nice facility, enjoyable rooms and services
Cons: none

6.8 Good
Pros: The location was excellent, close to everything.
Cons: The room was very small, and there was no storage at all, which made moving around the room difficult. Also the room was more expensive than advertised, as there was an extra fee. I feel that we should have been notified by email about the extra fee.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: Toilet was a bit small
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was very cozy and had a young vibe. Staff was super sweet and helpful! I would definitely stay there again!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great little hotel in a good spot
5.0 Okay
Cons: VERY small rooms, crowded "lobby" area, and older building. It was very expensive for what we got.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel's staff is super friendly and efficient: they helped us sending our bags to the next hotel and they also called our next hotel to let them know our luggage would arrive. The staff also recommended some restaurants and they were great! The position is perfect to visit Kanazawa: everything is within a 10 minute walk except the station which is an extra 5 minutes far. Our room (6th floor) also had a nice view on the neighborhood. The room was clean and super silent, we spent a couple of days there and it was just perfect. Last but not least: the hall is also a beautiful café, stylish and warm, where you can have breakfast and drink a good espresso or have a drink when you come back at night. We will book a room here again for sure the next time we'll be back to Kanazawa!

Pros: The atmosphere

Pros: The staff at the car park and the front desk are very nice and helpful. As I cannot speak Japanese, they tried their best to communicate with me in English. The room is spectacular given the room fare. It is very clean and spacious. Will definitely stay there again in the future

Pros: A very well located hotel in a beautiful city- we wish we’d spent more time here!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The king room was very spacious, and everything was clean, fresh, and appealing. Great value and was part of the reason we found Kanazawa our favorite city in Japan.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was huge for Japan. Bed was comfortable (good bedding!). We enjoyed staying at the 11th floor, which was the top floor. Given the price it was pretty amazing.
Cons: -
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was perfect for my family to visit the sights in Kanazawa. We had a quad room and everyone had enough space. The hotel was clean, the parking was spacious and I would book here again. It isn't a resort but this hotel suited our needs for a basic two night stay.
Cons: The beds were a bit harder than I prefer however if you have traveled in Japan you should be used to this. Each bed had two pillows which was a plus.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The largest room ever. A double round could easily accommodate 6 or 7 beds. Simple but very adequate and clean. No complaints. Good value.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The newly built hotel is very convenient walking distance from the train station. Clean modern rooms, pleasant decor and overall great amenities.
Cons: The restaurant needs much to be desired especially for service and menu choices.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best quality/price of all of our trip!!
Cons: Can not complain about anything :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A short walk from Kanazawa Station. Room is clean.
Cons: The dryer in the laundry room is not working properly. Took an extremely long time to dry the clothes. When we booked our room, we stated 4 adults and one kid, but we were given 4 set of towels and pillows only. We have to ask for extra towels everyday. We were told by the front desk that no extra pillows are available for my kid when we checked in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms good size. Catering for children excellent. As we had not booked for breakfast it was a pity that buying a ticket would have provided breakfast if we had been informed
Cons: Not much but when a vacancy occurred for the car it would have been good to know on the second day
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The closeness with the station, the staff and the big and nice rooms.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and polite staff. Good room service. Great location near train station. Comfortable bed, big room.
Cons: The heating/cooling light is way too bright same with wifi.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location next to Kanazawa station which is walking distance (15-20mims) to all main sites. Great views. THE biggest and most diverse buffet breakfast we came across in Japan and really good quality. Great in house Sky Lounge bar and restaurants with great views.
Cons: Only slight down side was that our room was dated compared to the opulent lobby, cafe and restaurant areas. I understand some rooms may of been rennovated. We could access a gym next door (payment required) but it didn't open until 9am.
10.0 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is right across the main train station, which is also where the bus terminal that one could take the essential touring loop bus to most attractions in the city! The view of the room is superb - with the spectacular night view of the famous architecture of the train terminal building. The bathing experience is also great. Breakfast is good as a 3-4 star Japanese hotel! The hotel lobby and entrance are quite classic! Value for money when compared with other city center hotels in Nagoya and vacinity.
Cons: The room and hotel in general are a bit old!
5.6 Okay
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Although the lobby was decent the rooms were in need of upgrade. It felt like going back in time about 30 years.

Pros: We loved everything about the Yuyaruru Sai Sai! It was clean, comfortable and the staff was excellent. We had dinner there one evening which was outstanding. Breakfast was also wonderful. The ryokan is in a perfect location --a close walk to public transportation and the walking path along the river. The setting makes you forget you are in a city.

Cons: The location is a 10-15m walk from the parks and from the restaurant district

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Location close to bus stop and an easy walk. Facilities were great and enhanced our cultural experience. Breakfast was great and an interesting introduction to Japanese food styles. Only suggestion is to have a non-seafood option and an earlier time slot, maybe 7.30am.
Cons: Earliest breakfast option was 8am. Too much seafood for some of our family in the breakfast.

8.9 Excellent (140 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Yuzuya Ryokan Kanazawa Ryokusone in Kanazawa, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I really enjoyed my stay at Yuzuya Ryokan Kanazawa Ryokusone. The staff are amazingly friendly, the breakfasts were amazing and the living space was ideal for someone wanting a more Japanese experience. The bath was the highlight, Japanese style deep bath and hand shower which was so nice I spent hours soaking each evening. They also had good car parking, just make sure that you let them know ahead of time.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The rooms, the amenities (leave your own toiletries at home), the food (the chef is fantastic; I ate the Kaiseki set dinner most nights and breakfast is done Japanese style or Western— the croissants rival Paris), and most of all, the gracious service. Everyone here is warm, friendly, and so helpful (I left something on the train from Tokyo, and they called night and day to retrieve it for me; I left my glasses in a taxi and they got those back too!). Toku (the head concierge) speaks English and is incredibly kind and patient.
Cons: Nothing! I love walking and wandering to get to know a place, so the 20-30 minute walk to the sightseeing areas did not bother me (even in the rain) but fair warning: most of the other visitors took taxis to town center.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I would highly recommend this beautiful place to stay in Kanazawa. We had an amazing stay, the staffs are really on point for the service. They are very helpful if you need any assistance or advice about the city, they can speak well English. The room is very clean, traditional Japanese Ryokan decorated in a super stylish way. Private with the view of the city. I enjoy so much how they pay attention to every little details. Aesop products for the bathroom. Full Japanese breakfast; really at the top quality and top service. Chefs there are really super! I would highly recommend the dinner set! It was beyond my expectation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing staff incredible experience in Japanese Ryokan a very special experience all round.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place, gorgeous room, great food and the best staff.
Cons: The location makes sense for the place itself but in a traveler perspective it was always difficult to come back from the centre by taxi because drivers didn’t know the place, were lost and just driving around and around...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A ryokan joining beautifully modern with ancient. The breakfast was fantastic, specially I was given the little room with a view - special experience.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful serene ryokan with amazing food and beautiful rooms
Cons: Location is a bit far from things, but if you don’t mind walking through quiet neighborhoods for 20-30 minutes it’s fine.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great, particularly Toku and 'Antonio'
Cons: Beds and pillows much too hard
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful surroundings located near a beautiful temple. Its It's a boutique ryokan with only 7 rooms, hence it is a lovely and quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday living. Staff were very attentive and gave excellent Japanese hospitality. Luxurious Aesop toiletries were also provided! Kaiseki breakfast and dinner were an absolute standout and a must. Within walking distance to Kenroku-en Gardens and Kanazawa Castle. We would love to return one day.
Cons: Would have been good if they provided courtesy pickup and dropoff during checkin and checkout.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The premises were beautiful. The staff was great. Tea and a sweet on arrival. Gracious and spacious room. Simple elegance.
Cons: No onsen. Overpriced. Kaisecki dinner not that impressive, although varied and well-prepared.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, comfortable and clean. Great location for walking to Kanazawa attractions, lots of restaurants, cafes and bars nearby.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Right located at the city center. It's is so easy to reach the major attractions.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good price/quality ratio. Very comfortable room above Japan standard
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Best location, it is so easy to access to 21 century museum, Kanazawa castles, Kenrokuen erc Also near hotel there are bunch of shopping and eating places
Cons: Most staff are very kind however some of them are not so friendly from guest point of view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel, very comfortable and convenient. Delicious melon parfait in the cafe.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: As an American tourist, the usual great things about an upscale Japanese hotel apply: - Outstanding customer service that never fails to give you the impression that everybody just wants to go above and beyond - Outstanding cleanliness - Nice decor, nice facilities. There's a dessert dining area and a master patissier, which is an interesting take in addition to the usual lunch and dinner. I actually had a slice of mango cake and iced coffee, and it was a great afternoon snack. For only 1,000 yen I might add (the equivalent of about $10 USD). There's really not much you can complain about. The staff spoke exceptionally good English, even in comparison to the other luxury hotels I stayed at in larger cities such as Kyoto and Hiroshima. The breakfast buffet is great, but probably not worth the 2,000 yen price tag (about $20 USD). You'll get better value from their weekly pasta lunches which run around 1,300 yen.
Cons: The only thing was spacing. I upgraded my room because like most places in Japan, space comes at a premium. However, I found that the extra space was occupied by a larger bed (full size). Personally, I would have preferred a normal double bed and more open space to move around/arrange my luggage. It was a fairly narrow fit as was the case in most of the hotels that I stayed at during a six week Japan trip.
6.8 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean, with good water pressure in the shower. Location very central in a nice area. There does not seem to be much choice of nice hotels in Kanazawa and this is not a terrible one.
Cons: More Hotel Dusty than Hotel Trusty. We found plenty of dust on the bedside tables, around the bed, etc. - definitely not the level of cleanliness and attention to detail that we've seen elsewhere in Japan. The room we stayed in (Superior Double Room) was really tiny. It had a huge super king bed but not much space around it, so it was impossible to open our large suitcase anywhere in the room. The bathroom was very cramped but functional. Nowhere near what you would expect from a 4 star hotel - more like a basic 3 star, think Ibis. If driving, note that the hotel car park does not have many spaces, and it is one of the automated elevator ones you find in Japan, which is a bit of a hassle as it requires 10 minutes to park or retrieve the car with the help of the hotel staff.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location and cleanness of the hotel.
Cons: There was only one staff working at the check-in desk in the morning when I got there. There were 2 -3 guests waiting ahead of me to be served. When I was checking out next day, I had a similar experience. It would be nice if there were at least two staffs instead of just one.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Extremely comfortable bed and pillows.. Reasonable sized room. Good selection for buffet breakfast.Good location close to the castle.
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was brilliant. Very good value for money
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel and hospitality. Our twin room was a good size with quality furnishings, comfortable beds and a well appointed bathroom with lovely toiletries. The breakfast choice was extensive and delicious, with eggs made to order and coffee to take away. The staff were all very helpful and it was great to be able to buy a one day travel pass from the concierge. Thank you to the young man who ran after us to tell us about other places a bit further away, as the hotel is so well located for access to The Samurai District, Castle and Gardens that you can walk. The Club Lounge access was worth paying that bit extra for.
Cons: The room was too warm for us and could not be cooled independently due to the time of year. However, the window opened - great - but unfortunately for us it was very windy and we were on the 14th floor so it was too loud to leave open during the night. An electric fan would have been useful, (and might perhaps be given some consideration), as there was an air purifier in the room which was a nice touch.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very good personnel, good breakfast.
Cons: Size of the room and a bit steep in price.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, location, location.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Large room and comfortable
Cons: Nil
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First stay at a Tokyu Hotel and very impressed with the level of service and overall look and feel of the hotel. If you are looking for a modern hotel in Japan which is still very Japanese then this chain is a good bet. This particular hotel is very well located for the garden, the castle, the modern art museum and the old samurai neighbourhood. Around the back are plenty of bars and izakayas to keep you happy at night. We instead opted to walk to Higashi Chaya-gai, the eastern geisha district, which was very pretty but extremely quiet. Should probably have visited it during the day rather than evening.
6.3 Good
Pros: The hotel is a short bus or taxi ride from the station but in a very good position , near the gardens and samurai district The staff were very friendly and did their best to help ( although our request for soft pillows in English and Japanese only resulted in more hard ones) I liked breakfast but my friend who likes western style breakfasts thought it OK and no more
Cons: The beds were hard which my friend and I could have tolerated had the pillows been soft: a hard rubber pillow and a softer one but with a hard grainy layer ( perhaps buckwheat?). We had little sleep both nights It was my second stay in a year at this hotel. I had booked superior single rooms with club access. There was an element of penny pinching - the room was on the small side, only one towel and even only one teabag! The club lounge was the same - hardly anything to eat with drinks eg three tiny plates ( one with half a slice of salami and pork sausage and a little bit of cheese was the largest offering ) and no generosity in the range of drinks or offering another glass My friend rated this hotel the worst she had stayed in in her four trips to Japan. I thought it only fair this time
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in a great location, room size was good. Bathroom clean and well sized.
Cons: Mattresses were too hard.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were the most wonderfully kind people. Super accommodating, resourceful and helpful. Extra thanks needs to go to Zhi Yang. I left some items in my room which was my fault alone and had left Kanazawa before realizing. Upon contacting them I was promptly re-directed to Zhi who has been in constant contact with me to organise forwarding my items to Osaka location for pick up.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very central location. Clean rooms. Courteous and very helpful staff.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were great, facilities and public spaces were comfortable and attractive, location was perfect, restaurants and food were delicious. The staff was accommodating and friendly, and they went above and beyond to help with any request.
Cons: There was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, and the wired internet that was provided was very slow. In this day and age, it seems important to provide quick, reliable internet and Wi-Fi, or it will be difficult for business travelers (or anyone who relies on the internet really) to stay there.
